Review Summary

Reviews paint Yokato Yokabai Ramen as a busy, cramped but authentic spot where a rich, customizable ramen experience sits at the center of the appeal. The broths, especially tonkotsu and torikotsu, are repeatedly described as savory, creamy, and deeply flavored, with homemade noodles that hold up to toppings like pork, chicken, or vegan options; karaage and takoyaki are frequent favorites on the side. The atmosphere is described as cozy and authentic Japanese with a lively vibe, though the space is small, chilly near the door, and noisy during peak hours. A popular text-based waitlist system helps manage queues but wait times can stretch, sometimes making the meal feel pricey for the portion size or the level of service. Service quality ranges in reviewers' eyes from warm and attentive to slow or inconsistent, contributing to a sense that the place is excellent when it shines but not always flawless. Value is debated: some call it the best ramen in Montreal and worth the crowd and cost, while others feel the hype and Michelin connection have inflated expectations and that the experience does not always match the price. The restaurant also offers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-aware options, and a cocktail program adds to the scene, but overall opinions converge on a standout, highly flavorful ramen that pays off for many despite the caveats of popularity and pace.

The entrance was through 360 Rue Rachel, Ichigo Ichie Izakaya (probably temporarily). There's usually a waiting time before you're served.

Best pork bun & tapas. Lots of menu items were out but still worth it

Called before coming to make sure there was a way to have gluten free options. Was told on the line that they could make any dish gluten free, that I just had to ask in the restaurant. Took an hour trip long there to realize there's only one gluten free option on the menu, EVERYTHING else has gluten. Guess it would have been easier to tell me the name of the GF option to make an informed decision before traveling across the city for nothing.

There's a lot of waiting, but my complaint doesn't relate to that. After being seated, the cold drafts from the doors opening & closing were draining. Thankfully, the soups were served hot. The server, though nice & quick, seemed to be in a hurry when answering my questions about the different add-ons I could choose for my soup. It felt like I wasn't allowed to take my time to reflect, just to make a choice. While eating at the top counter, the credit card machine was placed right in front of me, & every time the dusty bill printer worked, particles of dust seemed to fall dangerously close to my soup. Despite these issues, the place itself looked great. When my soup arrived, it tasted really good, but they forgot two of my extras. I didn't mind waiting for them to be added, but when the mushrooms finally came, they were so cold that it was disappointing. The broth, however, was delicious, & the noodles were amazing. While eating, I noticed a girl in the kitchen with blue or green hair (or maybe both) cleaning something with a sponge right next to the soups lined up for their add-ons. Drops of water from whatever she was cleaning were falling into the soups, which, given how crowded the kitchen was, seemed unhygienic. I can't lie-I was happy with my meal. I liked being able to follow the preparation of my soup while sitting at the counter, & the food itself was good. However, small hiccups like these made the experience less than perfect &, overall, a bit disappointing. Will I go again? Yes. But will I hype it up to others & say it was amazing? No. I think a few small changes could greatly improve the atmosphere & experience.

Very lacklustre ramen, targeted at Caucasian palate. Kinton, sansotei, & ichi ramen are all comparable or better for a cheaper price. Wouldn't go back & wouldn't recommend. The one plus would be that it has vegan broth for those who care

This ramen restaurant has undoubtedly the best ramen you could find in Montreal. It truly masters the formula of the signature ramen anyone would be craving for whether or not you have eaten ramen in Japan. My only complaint is that the options of ramen are practically non existent. This isn't a major issue as the classic ramen they offer is plenty enough to fill my craving, but I would hope that they add different ramens such as the tan tan ramen.
