The authenticity of the restaurant & quality of the food are something to be appreciated for anyone who enjoys a good bowl of ramen. Prices are very reasonable & the control you have over your order does not compromise on the overall integrity of the dish you get. That said, I've definitely had better ramen at the many places you'll find a few streets away-the noodles & chicken were pretty stale, & the sesame broth lacked depth & felt powdery. Couldn't finish it because the taste just wasn't it, which never happens. Better food & a little interior rearranging (it's very cramped, snug but bordering on uncomfortable) would knock this place out of the park.
Ramen excellent, mais le bouillon manquait de chaleur. Sinon, tout était parfait.
Meilleure place de ramen a Montréal. Ambiance superbe, nourriture délicieuse. Kaarage & ramen, je pourrais y aller a chaque semaine
Best ramen in the city. Don't need to fluff more in the review no one I know has ever been disappointed eating here.
Sides are good, ramen is also good, but the ramen is a little bit cold.
The ramen is sooo good! The broth is so rich & full of flavour! Definitely one of the best ramen I've had 💖
The drinks are also very nice, & appetisers like Takoyaki & Karage are definitely worth it too!
Been to Japan & this ramen is seriously up there. The tonkatsu ramen is so good & refreshing summer special is also very nice. The ambiance & service is also 10/10. Highly highly recommend
I have come back time & time again to the best ramen shop in Montreal. The service is quick & efficient, menu is clear & concise, vegan options are delicious. Very affordable & filling, it never disappoints!
This restaurant reminds me so much of being in Japan which is amazing. From the interior decor to the countertop seatings, everything felt so real. The service was also friendly & welcoming but it is definitely not as'perfect' as in Japan. The food itself was great. The thick soup has great flavours & complements the noodles so well. The pork slices were thick & soft & the eggs was bursting in flavours as well. Everything tasted delicious & each element kept adding on to the bowl. Such a simple yet amazing bowl of noodles. I do think that I would have preferred the noodles to be a bit thicker but it was still pretty good. I especially enjoyed the flavours of the karaage. The little sauce/topping on top had this slight sour flavour & it paired so well with the fried chicken. The biggest difference from eating this here & 8n Japan is probably the price. One bowl of ramen here is around 21$ but the portion is pretty good & there are a lot of customizing options which is always a plus for me.
I recently visited Yokato Yokabai Ramen & was really impressed. The ramen was rich, flavorful, & incredibly satisfying. You can tell they take pride in their broth - it's creamy & full of depth, just like real Hakata-style ramen should be.
The atmosphere is cozy & casual, perfect for a comforting meal, especially on a cold day. The staff were friendly & efficient, & the service was quick without feeling rushed.
If you're a ramen lover or just looking for a warm, authentic Japanese meal in Toronto, Yokato Yokabai is definitely worth a visit. I'll be back for sure!
While the regular ramen is personally too expensive for me to justify buying (considering I would want to add a couple toppings, upgrade the egg & get thick noodles), their limited time cold ramen is really delicious, & this is the second summer I've made sure to get it. The sour & slightly spicy yuzu/lemony broth contrasts perfectly with the karaage, which is rich & stayed extremely crispy even after I mixed it in the broth.
The current kakigori (matcha strawberry) was too strong for me, with too much of the matcha topping & not enough of the shaved ice to mellow it out. (The matcha topping was very fluffy & soft, but strong enough that its bitterness could not be fully masked by the shaved ice underneath.) Just a warning for those who prefer their matcha in less intense contexts. Also the strawberry was not very noticeable because the matcha overpowered it.
Lunch was a lot less crowded than when I went for dinner in the past, & I found the atmosphere to be much more pleasant because of that. (No wait, but I went on a weekday at 1pm).
I had a great time, & there was no wait for a table. Honestly, it's the best ramen I've had in Montreal. I can't wait to come back!
Les ramens sont succulentes & le porc fond dans la bouche!
The ramen here is phenomenal. This place is considered THE ramen place in Montreal.
Points off for service & atmosphere. Don't come too hungry because even on a Monday at 2pm you will wait about 30 mins for your food.
They seem to only hire men for the serving staff, & it's pretty small quarters so the last time I went the guys were all talking about women while I waited.
If you don't mind looking over these details & waiting quite long for the food then this place is a Montreal must try.
Authentic ramen done right in Montreal? You bet! Seating was tight inside but it matched the decor & it worked.
Amazing rich broth ramen, well worth the wait. Very crowded but it's worth it
