I used to go a few years back, had some memorable experiences. This time however was not. The tables are very small, we were only 2 & had no space for 2 ramen & a side dish. the flavour was quite bland. It used to be my favorite ramen shop, but after coming back for the first time in 3 years, the quality of the food & experience dropped alot. the priced went UP as we spent close to 80$ for ramen & side. 25$ for an okay ramen & 15$+ for a side. the aesthetic of the store is there, But very crowded, small, expensive. It does look good at least.
It was great the food was good I will have to go back & try more of their ramen
On a eu the best seats in the house, au bar, proche de l'action !:)
Whoa. I was not expecting this quality on Ramen, great service, delicious!!!!
My experience was somewhat unfortunate since they forgot a dish & after at least 15 minutes of waiting a waitress came to tell me that my dish was about to come out to which I only ordered a dessert & a tea since they do not have coffee, she was very kind to offer these last orders as a courtesy, as someone who is within the industry I would advise them that if it required more staff they should invest in it because forgetting orders is not a good thing for anyone, just as being a Michelin restaurant I expected better service & with the issue of Dishes As a lover of oriental food, I can say that the ramen is nothing spectacular, it is good, although I think that due to overproduction the quality of the flavor has been lost & the sausages were good but nothing out of this world & the dessert was quite flat, like something that lacks love. I hope to visit you on the next occasion & that the great success you enjoy today is not the cross on your grave.
We went there on Saturday & there was an hour & 15 minute wait we put our name in & waited for 25 minutes before they called us back then we had to wait another 10 to 15 minutes to get seated & then another 10 minutes for someone to come get our order. Then we also waited another 40 minutes & then I asked the server where our order was cause & he unfortunately lost it. I understand that mistakes happen, but we were waiting for so long at that point that I was kind of disappointed & very hungry. We were seated by the door which they was always open so it was very cold. He brought us some free karaage as an apology. We waited another 30 minutes to get our ramen, at that point we were at the restaurant for an an hour & a half. The ramen was ok. It wasn't anything special. I feel like the wait was way too long for the quality of the food. I don't know if it changed since they got that Michelin recognition but I feel like it was just not worth the price, we paid around $30 for one Ramen, which is crazy so yeah I guess if you wanna try it go ahead like the food isn't amazing but it's not bad either. I don't think the experience is worth it.
This used to be a great place food wise. I think it is just ok at best nowadays based on testing takoyaki, karaage & ramen. Not Michelin worthy for sure.
Speaking from my experience:
My family & I have been craving ramen this morning, we looked online & saw that this restaurant was recommended by many & not to mention their Michelin status. Today was cold & windy, of course we expect something warm & delicious to fill our stomach. We walked about 5km just to get there (not a problem). When we arrive, we were super tired, hungry & cold: expecting to get the best food experience. We waited there for a couple of minutes: no waiter came to assist. We didn't notice the little tablet which you have to use to reserve for ( our fault). We reserved, waiting time was 3h 30 + minutes. That's insane, since we saw much table available. It's fine though, we didn't come all the way for nothing. We settle down in another store waiting.
Great news! Around 30 minutes in, we got the text! Yay! We hurried & arrived. They quickly assigned us to our seat. We ordered, everything went perfectly. The atmosphere was nice, there wasn't heating nor air conditioner: no one had any problem, even though most of the people still kept their coat on for extra heat. Personally I was pretty cold & very excited for my ramen to come. When it arrived the first thing I did was to put my hands on the hottest part of the bowl. Weirdly it was warm but more on the cold side. Maybe it's a sign that the bowl was made to last! I took a bite: the food was exactly like the bowl, warm but more on the cold side, I asked around to see if it's just a me problem. Seems like it wasn't.
I finished my bowl, disappointed. & tell me why the egg was so bland. Is this Asian food? The food wasn't worth the hype, especially not with the compliment'just like Japan'. Im not picky at all, but the food was really disappointing: it wasn't special compared to other ramens. I would prefer Sensotei ramen for better flavor & packaged homemade ramen for its warmth.
Overall, the experience was upsetting & I wouldn't come back. Also not to mention, I put more green onion, but the amount was just like regular ramen stores.
Une heure d'attente pour des ramens hors de prix & pas non plus exceptionnel, ca vaut vraiment pas le coup
Always was & still one of the best ramen spots in town if not the best. On par with what I ate in Japan. Only downside is.. it's always busy & they don't take reservations. Drinks were nothing extraordinary. Would stick to the basics : ramen
Great Ramen, Location , Service & Food is like the real thing from Japan, absolutely enjoyed my stay. Highly recommended
Word of warning: since earning a Michelin mention, come for lunch on a weekend & you will wait in a black hole of a lineup where nobody will tell you how to get on a waitlist or how long the waitlist is & when finally some staff member does talk to the people waiting you find out you have to enter your details into a tablet to get texted when your table is ready & you'll then see other groups of more people get seated ahead of you & when they do seat you half an hour after you arrived, you'll get water & you fill out your order on little slips which will be then be ignored for another 20 minutes until someone takes them & your drink order finally. BUT when your ramen finally does come an hour after you first arrived on the scene, it will be fantastic. & every thing will suddenly be ok again. Pricey, but delicious. But you will make a mental note next time to come for lunch at either 11:30 when it opens or 1:15 after the first rush or to have a snack before you go.
We had a wonderful lunch at Yokato Yokabai. Cocktails, karaage chicken & ramen. Everything was delicious. Great way to celebrate our anniversary
This is clearly the best ramen restaurant in Montreal. I absolutely insist on visiting whenever I have the chance. This is the absolute jewel of the Plateau, consistently delivering delicious ramen every time. The tonkotsu broth is a must. The portions are incredibly generous & leave you full & satisfied. We are so blessed to have Yokato Yokabai. 3 Michelin starts from me.
