Review Summary

Reviews paint Yokato Yokabai Ramen as a busy, cramped but authentic spot where a rich, customizable ramen experience sits at the center of the appeal. The broths, especially tonkotsu and torikotsu, are repeatedly described as savory, creamy, and deeply flavored, with homemade noodles that hold up to toppings like pork, chicken, or vegan options; karaage and takoyaki are frequent favorites on the side. The atmosphere is described as cozy and authentic Japanese with a lively vibe, though the space is small, chilly near the door, and noisy during peak hours. A popular text-based waitlist system helps manage queues but wait times can stretch, sometimes making the meal feel pricey for the portion size or the level of service. Service quality ranges in reviewers' eyes from warm and attentive to slow or inconsistent, contributing to a sense that the place is excellent when it shines but not always flawless. Value is debated: some call it the best ramen in Montreal and worth the crowd and cost, while others feel the hype and Michelin connection have inflated expectations and that the experience does not always match the price. The restaurant also offers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-aware options, and a cocktail program adds to the scene, but overall opinions converge on a standout, highly flavorful ramen that pays off for many despite the caveats of popularity and pace.

Its a bit tight but its a nice concept. I had better ramen but it was relatively decent.

I know everyone loves this place, & it was good but it's so small & cramped. The pork was so tough in the ramen, & the broth lacked flavour. Thankfully they brought chili oil to the table. I liked the noodles, but overall wasn't super impressed unfortunately.

We were impressed with the service, the place was packed, but the food was served very quickly. Also, the ramen was absolutely delicious & super flavourful, the cocktails were great too.

Quite an authentic place that serves exclusively Ramen! It was my first time there & I did not expect a waiting line at the entrance! The place was packed! The food is great, genuine Japanese flavours. I recommend to take the matcha ice-cream too.

Probably the most elegant Ramen spot in town. Food, decor, ambiance, service are all top notch, explains the line-ups. Highly recommend!

By far the best & most authentic ramen in Montreal! It's the closest thing to what I experienced in Japan. The atmosphere is inspired & cozy, & the service is friendly. Try the Gomami Ramen. It's a delicious, lighter option. The Chicken Karaage will blow your mind.
