Afficher toutramen(348) broth(76) noodle(44) pork(43) chicken(37) bouillon(26) tonkotsu(20) poulet(17) soup(16)I got dinner here around 6. There wasn't any wait so I was seated immediately. The atmosphere is cool, pretty dark & a nice Japanese vibe. The staff was very friendly too. I got chicken Raman with chicken broth with thin noodles & a whole egg. The portion sizes were very generous. There was a lot more meat than I expected & lots of noodles. It all tasted good. It wasn't gorme but I was more than satisfied. I paid about $21 (+$1 for another half an egg) so I think it was good value for the amount of food I got.Voir plus
We had dinner here at 5pm on a Friday. No line to get in & was promptly seated. The restaurant was small & my husband & I were put in a seat facing the wall which was fine. The restaurant was dark & hot. Hot because they are literally cooking the food with fire right in front of you! Which is awesome. I hate when ramen comes out warm/hot. This came out extremely hot which is perfect.
I ordered the sesame broth with normal salt & chicken teriyaki. The broth was nice & creamy. They put HUGE pieces of chicken in the soup. I was actually shocked. It was all very filling. If you aren't absolutely starving or aren't the type of person to have a big appetite, you can share one bowl with two people. $22 for that much food was great.
The service was great & the food came out quick. Clean big washrooms as well.Voir plus
Ramen was tasteless. Nothing like a good ramen should be rich & full of umami. Pork look old & dry. If you get the chicken instead you would get big pieces of chicken thighs that they call teriyaki chicken but looks more like steamed chicken. Chicken garage was good nothing out of this world. They should make better ramensVoir plus
Saturday 12:30 pm, 5 minutes wait, seated at the bar. Ordered sesame broth chicken ramen. Really thick broth, & they gave me probably three chicken thighs worth of meat, really generous amount I almost couldn't finish. I'd say it's a decent flavor, but it's not unmatched, you can probably find similar taste downtown Montreal. It's worth the visit if you happened to be close & there's no line.Voir plus
I visited Yokato Yokabai for the first time on a chilly, rainy Saturday afternoon with a friend, & it turned out to be a cozy, unforgettable experience. The restaurant's vibe immediately set a welcoming tone-its intimate setting, with warm lighting & beautiful Japanese wall murals complemented by wooden accents, made it feel like stepping into a little slice of Japan. Since it was early & only the ramen bar was open, we had to wait about 40 minutes for a seat, but it was well worth it. We were seated right in front of the chefs, which was a treat as we watched them skillfully prepare the ramen.

In depth review:
To start, we shared the pork gyoza with a peanut sauce, which had a perfect balance of flavors-crispy & savory with a little sweetness from the sauce. But the real star of the meal was the ramen. I opted for the torikotsu, which is a chicken broth ramen with thin noodles & chicken teriyaki as my protein. My friend went for the tonkotsu, which featured a rich pork broth with tender slices of pork & thin noodles. Both dishes were exceptional, with each bite bursting with flavor. The broth was so comforting, rich without being overwhelming, & the noodles were perfectly cooked.
There was a water jug on our table, but the menu didn't mention any drinks, so we weren't sure if we needed to ask specifically for something else. We weren't offered any additional beverages, which left us wondering if this was the usual practice.
To top it off, there was a special deal-ramen & a yuzu panna cotta dessert for just $25, which felt like an amazing value. The panna cotta was smooth & subtly tangy, a perfect way to end the meal.
Though the space was a bit tight, it added to the charm, & it was clear this is a place where people come together to enjoy great food & a relaxed atmosphere.
In the end, Yokato Yokabai is a hidden gem in Montreal's Plateau neighborhood. Whether you're craving a bowl of ramen on a cold day or just looking for a cozy spot to unwind, this place delivers authentic, comforting Japanese food at an excellent price. I'll definitely be back, but during a less busy traffic time when all the rooms are open.Voir plus
I'm a big eater & ramen that I ordered was super-filling!
Chicken pieces were more than enough, broth was flavourful, & overall quantity was good.
I would love to come again to this place.
Recommendations:
- Ramen
- Grape Soda water
- Spicy fried chicken (side dish)Voir plus
I can see why this place gets busy....num num num yummy with that extra num num num. Ate at the chill ramen side, loved the sesame broth very unique. Portion of meat generous.... loved that they have 3 broth options that dont have pork. Num num num chicken ramen : )Voir plus
We had a wonderful meal here in a cold snowy Monday. The food was delicious - three of us had Ramen with Tonkatsu broth, one of us had some Chicken Kaarage. The atmosphere is fun & lively, & service was kind & attentive. Highly recommend!Voir plus
A lively space to slurp down some ramen. I enjoyed my chicken-broth soup, but did wish that the flavour profile had more depth.
Great to satisfy a sudden craving if you're close by, especially during the winter months.Voir plus
Good ramen in Montreal. I tried this place out during a 2 day stint in the city due to its' high amount of reviews & I was happy with the option. The broth was solid, along with pretty delicious noodles that tasted very fresh. The meat was good as well. I didn't really like the spoon situation as drinking the broth at our tiny 2 person booth was a little... like annoying. But it LoOkS tRaDiTiOnAl. Whatever. The chicken karaage was good too, but definitely not like a "must get." We should've gotten a small plate for me & my girlfriend because the chicken was loaded on the tiny plate & kept tipping over, with not a lot of chopstick power. Other than those tiny points, I would come back again to get my ramen fix in the city.Voir plus
Vegetarian soup (not the veg milk one) tastes good but not super special, though the toppings, sides & everything are definitely very thoughtful & well made. According to our friends the chicken soup is REALLY good. Takoyaki & shaved ice are standard tasty. We waited at least an hour, was pretty annoying that the wait time increased as we were waiting, it was just a thursday night. The waiter was very nice though.Voir plus
Excellent!! Amazing taste (pork & chicken broth). Superb bite on the homemade noodles! One of the best Ramen shops I have ever been to - including the ones in Japan!Voir plus
The service is okay, the chicken ramen is average, & the atmosphere feels like a nightclub. It seems I'm the only Asian here. Compared to most Japanese restaurants in Paris, unfortunately, the ramen here is just mediocre.Voir plus
Really enjoyed the experience! The food was worth the wait, Saturday night is vey busy. We took the Kaarage (fried chicken) & the Chashu Don (Braised Pork rice) & Ramen soups that are personalized to your liking. Oh & do take the lemon ice cream. Service was quick & courteous. It felt like we were transported in Japan, sitting at the bar, looking at the chefs making their magic!Voir plus
Stopped for a quick ramen with my son who lives in Montreal & loves this place - I can see why. The ramen broth was out of this world - flavourful, rich, indescribable! The noodles were perfect, the pork was perfect, everything was perfect, except, perhaps, the egg, which was kind of pungent. Did not spoil the dish, though. We also shared some crispy chicken "bites" - just as delicious as the ramen. Two ramen & the shared chicken was too much; we had to take a couple pieces of chicken home. All in all, I see why our so e loves this place, & if I lived in Montreal I'd soon become a regular. We walked by a couple times & there were lineups - obviously it's a popular spot.Voir plus
Delicious Ramen. They also offer gluten free noodles for your Ramen. I ordered vegetable in chicken broth with chicken pieces - it was really good!Voir plus
We took two ramen here to take away, one was with chicken, the other was with pork, both were good, but I can't say that this is the best Ramen I've tried. For me, kinton is the constant standard for ramen, I just need to know which chain to choose, hehe. I noticed the decor with one eye, a little dark, but in traditional colors, the price is too high friends, I can say that for sure, but thank you, it's okVoir plus
Ordered pick up for 7 PM online, but had to wait an extra 30 minutes when I came to pick it up because they weren't ready. I had to approach the staff & remind them of my order twice. They almost forgot the chicken I ordered if I didn't check my order. Food was good, but not worth the hassle & inconvenience.Voir plus
Great ramen spot. I had the chicken broth ramen with chicken. A decent portion of tender chicken thighs & broth was flavorful & hot!Voir plus
By far the best & most authentic ramen in Montreal! It's the closest thing to what I experienced in Japan. The atmosphere is inspired & cozy, & the service is friendly. Try the Gomami Ramen. It's a delicious, lighter option. The Chicken Karaage will blow your mind.Voir plus
That was one of the best Ramens that I had. Try Chicken broth with seeweed & egg.Voir plus
The presentation, atmosphere, & service was great. Might've been a bad day but the flavour was lacking for the Tonkotsu & the Torikotsu. The chashu was also not how I would've expected it.
Did enjoy the Chicken Karaage.
If you're really craving soup it will get the job done.
