A hidden gem in Montreal. The sushi is incredibly fresh & flavorful, offering great value for the price. The atmosphere is very cozy & the staff is super helpful. This is my go-to for authentic Japanese food.
Food was good, & fresh (sushi & tartare). Service was ok (on Asian restaurant scale). Overall good cosy place for the price.
Wow, the salmon appetizer & fried dragon roll i had here were so so good! The salmon had literal fried, crispy, puffy salmon skin with a raw salmon tartare on top - super crunchy & delicious. Three dragon roll was perfectly spicy & flavorful. Both were very filling & well prepared. The place itself is also really nice - it looks like it could be a spot for formal meetings or just casual lunches. So so so good! One of my new favorite sushi spots in town!
I was a regular customer for almost 4 years. I've seen the quality of the restaurant deteriorate severely over that period. The service is now a lot worse (today I came in after ordering online 40min prior & the food was nowhere near ready), the quality of the food is simply not as good, & the portions have become ridiculous for the price.
I am disappointed because this was my go-to sushi place for a long time, & I will find a new one after today.
I love this place: excellent sushi super fresh & excellently crafted. Friendly efficient service & a very welcoming & comfortable atmosphere. It's my favourite restaurant in the area.
It was my second time visiting this sushi place. Loved it as usual. I'd rate it as the top few Japanese sushi places in Montreal among those I've been to. Every dish (those shown in the pics) was yummy. We ordered a few more (Toshikoshi soba, beef rice bowl & Kizuna Hotate Maki) which we forgot to take pics. They were also really delicious!

Absolutely exceptional experience at YEN Cuisine Japonaise! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was calm, elegant, & inviting. The service was warm & attentive without being intrusive - a perfect balance.
The food? Simply outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented & packed with authentic Japanese flavor. The sushi was incredibly fresh, the ramen rich & flavorful, & the attention to detail in every bite was clear. You can tell they take real pride in their craft.
Whether you're a longtime fan of Japanese cuisine or trying it for the first time, YEN is a must-visit. A perfect blend of tradition & modern refinement. Highly recommend - we'll definitely be back!
The food at Yen Japanese Sushi was actually quite good - fresh & nicely prepared. However, the overall experience was a bit underwhelming.
The service wasn't great: staff seemed inattentive & not very welcoming. The atmosphere was also just okay - nothing particularly special or inviting.
I might return for the sushi, but definitely hope the service improves.
Amazing sushi! Everything is done to perfection & I really enjoy the variety of sushi, including shawanmushi. I'd come & eat here every single day if I could!
Their foie gras salmon sushi is to die for!! :)) Nice staff, super fresh sushi, & cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
Yen Cuisine is an absolute gem for sushi lovers in Montreal! The freshness of the fish is top-tier, & the presentation is stunning. Every bite feels like a work of art, especially their signature rolls!
The food was amazing, we had sushi, edamames, & a bowl. All delicious 🤤🫶🏻. I would improve a lil the service. But in general I like this restaurant
Awful quality sushi rice + mediocre quality fish cuts = very underwhelming
The tempura that we ordered was not even crispy (beside the shrimp, which makes us wonder if the shrimp was semi-precooked unlike the other vegetables, you can clearly see that the batter used are different)
The platting may seem nice but would not recommend.
Really great experience overall. The chef & co are fantastic, the food is phenomenal, & the decor is aesthetic & authentic. My favourite sushi joint in Montreal!
I brought my family here for my mom's birthday & we had an amazing time. We ordered a variety of salmon, unagi, & torched hamachi sushi rolls, along with a bowl of gyudon. The first thing I noticed - they're very generous with their portions. You really get your money's worth. Second, the staff made us feel like a priority; they tended to our every need (& promptly) despite the restaurant being pretty busy. Third, the service worked very quickly! We were served within 15 minutes of ordering, & the waitress who took care of us frequently cleared the table & came by to check up on us. Lastly, the atmosphere was super calming, yet there was a nice buzz you could feel through Yen. There was always mellow chatter surrounding you, it was cozy & warm. :) My mom thoroughly enjoyed herself… & she's usually a harsh critic! She said she'd bring her work friends here the next time for a lunch or dinner date, & she barely eats out. It was so refreshing to see her so happy. Come here for QUALITY food, great service, & a happy time! :DDDD
Pretty good! Sushi was fresh & delicious. Gyudon is atypical, they had steaks in there instead of the usual thin beef but still really good. Service is great.
