Menu changed
Served like cafeteria dishes
Not what I expected
Going there for many years
Will not return
Omg this place has the most fine & yummy dishes. Been there twice & will come back to taste them all! Sophisticated japanese cuisine at its finest.
Only once i got pissed because they served us the entrées along with the main dish even though i had specifically asked not to. But I guess this is also something used to happen in Canada..
It happens to me a LOT in this country lol
But the second time i ve been there they were amazing on the service, so its all forgiven!
Loved our visit to YEN Cuisine Japonaise! Fresh, flavorful dishes with a modern twist & such a lively, youthful energy. Great spot to enjoy delicious Japanese cuisine with friends!
I had a great experience at Yen Cuisine, the food was light but filling & the atmosphere was very nice. My friend & I got a few dishes to share & enjoyed everything.
Very good & authentic Japanese restaurant. We had their recommended dishes which were delicious. If you're looking for a real Japanese experience downtown Montreal go there
SO DELICIOUS! Great atmosphere, great service, great selection of japanese dishes. Everything tasted really fresh. I actually went back twice in the same week because it was so good.
A nice little izakaya place with authentic & delicious Japanese bistro dishes. Their imported sake added a nice touch to the place.
This eatery offers some interesting Japanese dishes. The interior evokes a youthful Japanese atmosphere. The sake & Japanese whiskey selections are particularly remarkable, & I've found my favorite far yeast white beer, smooth & aromatic. However, the restaurant's noticeable fishy odor was rather off-putting.
Yen Cuisine Japonaise is such a cute spot, perfect for a date or a fun night out with friends. The vibe is super cozy with the brick wall & wooden panels, very Zen. But the real star? The food! The Sashimi Moriawase bowl was not only gorgeous but also insanely fresh & delicious. I also tried Soba noodles for the first time, & even though they were cold, the mix of black truffle mayo, tobiko, & scallops was chef's kiss! Can't wait to go back & try more dishes!
first off the presentation of all the dishes was very impressive! I especially loved their sushi rolls. The soba scallop dish was disappointing & didn't reflect the menu picture as the scallop was thinly sliced which was misleading. I personally wasn't a fan of that dish but my friend did. went during lunch on a Monday so it wasn't that busy but the staff was speaking loudly which ruined the ambience. They were clearly overstaffed, 4 servers for four tables. I would go back for takeout for their sushi but not dine in...
I visited Yen with my friends tonight ☺️☺️☺️& yeas I want to say, I was thoroughly impressed. Every aspect, from the quality & taste of the dishes to the presentation & decor, was delightful. The ambiance of the restaurant perfectly complements its style, which is both chic & sophisticated, typical of a Japanese izakaya. If I were to recommend a Japanese restaurant, Yen would undoubtedly be my top choice. It seems I'm not alone in my opinion, as the restaurant was completely full. 🤓
The first place I recommend to everyone visiting or hungry in Montreal! Amazing staff, warm ambience & delicious food! Such good prices for incredible high-quality & generous dishes!
The atmosphere & the decoration is great. Also the quality of the ingredients & the size of the portions are outstanding. The service was not good but not terribly bad. The waitress didn't explain to us the mom's day menu & took our order after long minutes. Yet, she was super quick to let us know that the reservation only lasted 1:30 hours. Also, we ordered the bill & it took her 15 min & a reminder from the table besides to bring it. In the meantime she was trying drinks inside the kitchen (open kitchen so you could see). I'm definitely giving it a second chance because the menu & dishes are great.
The taste is great,& it makes me feel very appetizing at first glance. The ingredients & dishes are also very fresh,& taste is moderately salty,& the heat is just right. I recommend the steamed egg with foie gras,it is so delicious! I can't stop eating the eel rice. Five-star recommendation!
We tried this place for the first time a year ago & the food overall is good. The place was quite busy on Friday & even with reservation, we were warned upon entering that we only have 1h30min to eat! The seafood was fresh. The karaage were medium crispy. Taste is good overall but the beef meat in two dishes we ordered (Gyu tataki & gyu shiitake don) felt overcooked & chewy. The foie gras chawanmushi was delicious. We recently come back to this place & same as before, seafood dishes are delicious. Gyu tataki a bit chewy as always, maybe it's supposed to be like that? Sashimi pieces are thick & yummy!
