Le brunch est délicieux & les pâtisseries sont non seulement magnifiques mais absolument délicieuses. Le baklava cheese cake était tellement bon !!! Les portions sont généreuses & le services est très bien.
I had such a pleasant experience, their Biscoff
tres leches cake has become my new obsession, super creamy & moist, just how I like it. The staff is also super sweet & welcoming, greeting you with the brightest smiles, ready to serve whatever you please. Overall, this is one of the best cafés to either just hangout with your friends, or even get your personal work done, as it's peacefully quiet & warm, providing an environment where you can easily focus.
Try the safran lèche cake!!!! Its sweet but it marries very well with a hot coffee! The cake was super light & very tasty! Highly recommend - Didn't take a picture of the cake because we all were enjoying it too much 😆 Everything was super delicious & the service was also excellent!!
I had such a good time over there & the atmosphere & staff are great, only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is for the price which I believe is quite high for slices of cake & the chai which I recognize from being the same syrup I use at home ! Otherwise very pretty & cozy spot with unusual pastries but simply not worth it to me for the price :)
Loved it! Velora has some of the best desserts (tres leches cakes 🤤) & lattes. Finally a coffee place that stays open later at night for an impromptu treat, a study session or to end a date night on a sweet note 🩷 super friendly staff too!
I will go back to try their other cakes 🤪🧁🍰
I love the atomosphere & the owners are incredibly warm & welcoming. I ordered an earl grey latte & added some of the pistachio sauce that came with my friend's pistachio tres leches cake which he really enjoyed. The earl grey with the pistachio made for the best tasting latte I've ever had. I'll be back very soon for this.
I loved this place ! The decor is beautiful & elegant, the space is large! Great for big groups which we were , the service was awesome & the tres Leche pistachio cake plus latte are absolutely perfect!
Such a cute coffee shop with an amazing decor & their pistachio cake & matcha are to die for!
Most appalling & confusing service I have ever experienced. It felt like nobody was in charge. When I walked in & said my friend was waiting for me, the waiter greeted me with little enthusiasm. I sat down & after 20 minutes, he still hadn't come to take my order. We had to call him ourselves. When my friend asked for an extra cup for the pretty large teapot she had ordered, the waiter seemed irritated by our request & begrudgingly accepted. Then I placed my order, which seemed to astonish him. My friend finally received her food (after a very long time), & the cake I ordered didn't arrive. We had to remind the waiter about it, which is strange because the place was practically empty. Long after we were done eating, he did not come to clear our plates or to ask us if we wanted anything else. My friend had to call him again to ask for a glass of water (none was provided in the beginning). The waiter brought one, & only one. Which was a total lack of courtesy. Finally, when we went to pay, we asked that the tea be split in half, which the waiter was completely unable to comprehend. He made a single attempt & then gave up. I must add that his language skills in both English & French were very poor, which did not help the situation.
It's really unfortunate, because the place itself is very beautiful & we enjoyed our food very much. The saffron dulce de leche cake was delicious, though it only had one single saffron flower on top.
All in all, I will not be returning to this café. It was not worth the price, &, frankly, the disrespectful indifference with which we were treated.
This is a very new place (approx 2 months) From the outside appearance, this place does look inviting. Once inside past the door, a sign greets you saying'let me assign you a place' &, although a very large space minimalistically decorated & inviting enough, it gives a'sit down restaurant vibe with large tables surrounded by many chairs. More for families i guess rather than the online worker or hang out place.
I personally prefer the walk in'sit where you want' open invitation type cafe.
As far as pastries, this is not your typical croissant flaky pastry place. This one has more Middle Eastern cakes, Baklava & such..
Of course, the menu is more extended that I did not have a look at because that was not what I was looking for..
Now we get to the coffee…I had myself a latte & they do have a selection of three plant milks which consist of oat almond & soy only.
I do not like sugar in my coffee, & this coffee was far too sweet without adding anything extra. The flavouring was more like of caramelized molasses & it left a lingering sticky after taste on my tongue. If you like your coffee sweet from the get go then, this place is for you. it was also rather quite expensive over seven dollars for a cup of Joe without leaving a Tip. The hostess, which was also the barista, was sweet & seemed just as new working In this field. The knowledge of what kind of coffee or bean Was limited to reading the label on the bag.
As far as I'm concerned this place is not for me. It did not cater to what I was looking for & the ambiance although might be good for families, I did not feel comfortable to hang out, not to mention overpriced for my simple experience. I wouldn't be encouraged to go for more.
I like to encourage new openings, but this does not seem to fit with the area & café mentality that we are accustomed to locally.
The experience fell a little flat for me hence my rating.
Amazing Persian love cake & a great atmosphere. I came by on Thursday morning & the staff were really nice especially the girl who was working then, she was really sweet & kind. Definitely coming back!
Omg, the tres leches cake was amazing, & the strawberry one too! Highly recommended. Unlike many spots in Montreal where they cram so many tables together, here you actually have space & you're not stuck listening to someone else's conversation.
My new favorite place in montreal amazing the coffee & cake are one of a kind & the service is the best love the girl that works at the cafe shes the sweetest
I loved this place before the renovations. It was more cozy, intimate, with mismatched tables & chairs. The pastries (esp the Persian cakes) & service were also better. While Velora looks nicer now, everything else that made it beloved falls flat. I'm not sure why they have the pastry shelves out at the front, making it look like you can go in & order like a self serve (especially when there are plates near it). The hostess seemed annoyed that I didn't know where to go when I ordered (at the coffee station in the back? Right at the entrance at the hostess desk? At the corner near the pastry shelf?). So already the layout is confusing. Cafés are usually order & then seat. This place doesn't know what it wants to be (a café? A sit down restaurant?) It doesn't help that the hostess (who worked Sunday evening at Nov 23) had this disinterested look on her face & kept clicking on her nails. Also literally the Gen Z stare. She also walked away when I tried to ask questions or follow up on my order (I wanted to order more things). The man who produced my takeout order did the same (just disinterestedly asking me is this your food, & then pushing the takeout bag to me across the counter), so it took 2 more follow ups & me waiting or chasing them down to complete my order with a beverage. The'Persian love' cakes (?) weren't as delicious, moist, fragrant, or large as their previous pastries. I felt cheated with the smaller portion sizes. I am not sure if they changed managament...The lattés are decent though; can't go wrong with anything pistachio. You can come here if you want to feel like being in a beautiful cafe, but food & service is meh.
You've got to check out this spot! Their signature Tres Leches cake is unreal! I've never tasted anything like it. The smoothies are all amazing too; I tried the Cherry Matcha & it was next-level. Super friendly staff as well, especially Hamidreza.
Definitely recommend!
I rarely write reviews, but this cafe deserves one. I've only been there three times, & it's already become one of my favorite cafés in Montreal. The staff are genuinely kind, every time I walk in, someone greets me with a smile.
The place is bright & spacious, & I love that they keep big tables open for people with laptops. It's the perfect spot to have a coffee & study on weekends for me. Even their music taste is great.
& the desserts are sooo good, I love their pistachio cake 🍰🍰🍰
Beautiful place, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff & owners, The pastries & desserts are out of this world, especially their Tres Leches cakes. A must try.
Disclaimer: Don't come here if you are on a diet, their pastries are impossible to resist. :D
This is my favorite cafe right now!
1. The tres leches cakes were spooky delicious & moist. We got a pistachio cake which I could smell the real pistachio! The Ferrero cake was not as good, the hazelnut taste was mild, but still delicious. Our Mexican friends confirmed the quality of these cakes.
2. The French toast was done perfectly! A thick slice of brioche bread, crispy outside & pudding inside, with amazing dolce de leches syrup. However, it was not a big portion (at least not for a brunch)
3. We also had Dutch baby shakshuka, again, perfectly done.
The service also was so good, they were so nice & polite. Everywhere was very clean, with nice plates & cups.
Overall, one of the best cafes I've tried in Montreal. I will definitely go again for the cakes but also for trying other pastries.
Esthetic style, curved walls, ecstatic music, & Pain Perdu that's worth the long wait (looks like a big cake, very fluffy & delicious organic jams).
