Cafe is quiet which is what I enjoy. Lots of people on laptops or quietly chatting. Didn't get a chance to try the pastries in the window but did get a yogurt bowl & latte, which was good. I'd come here again to get some work done.
This is a very new place (approx 2 months) From the outside appearance, this place does look inviting. Once inside past the door, a sign greets you saying'let me assign you a place' &, although a very large space minimalistically decorated & inviting enough, it gives a'sit down restaurant vibe with large tables surrounded by many chairs. More for families i guess rather than the online worker or hang out place.
I personally prefer the walk in'sit where you want' open invitation type cafe.
As far as pastries, this is not your typical croissant flaky pastry place. This one has more Middle Eastern cakes, Baklava & such..
Of course, the menu is more extended that I did not have a look at because that was not what I was looking for..
Now we get to the coffee…I had myself a latte & they do have a selection of three plant milks which consist of oat almond & soy only.
I do not like sugar in my coffee, & this coffee was far too sweet without adding anything extra. The flavouring was more like of caramelized molasses & it left a lingering sticky after taste on my tongue. If you like your coffee sweet from the get go then, this place is for you. it was also rather quite expensive over seven dollars for a cup of Joe without leaving a Tip. The hostess, which was also the barista, was sweet & seemed just as new working In this field. The knowledge of what kind of coffee or bean Was limited to reading the label on the bag.
As far as I'm concerned this place is not for me. It did not cater to what I was looking for & the ambiance although might be good for families, I did not feel comfortable to hang out, not to mention overpriced for my simple experience. I wouldn't be encouraged to go for more.
I like to encourage new openings, but this does not seem to fit with the area & café mentality that we are accustomed to locally.
The experience fell a little flat for me hence my rating.
My new favorite place in montreal amazing the coffee & cake are one of a kind & the service is the best love the girl that works at the cafe shes the sweetest
I loved this place before the renovations. It was more cozy, intimate, with mismatched tables & chairs. The pastries (esp the Persian cakes) & service were also better. While Velora looks nicer now, everything else that made it beloved falls flat. I'm not sure why they have the pastry shelves out at the front, making it look like you can go in & order like a self serve (especially when there are plates near it). The hostess seemed annoyed that I didn't know where to go when I ordered (at the coffee station in the back? Right at the entrance at the hostess desk? At the corner near the pastry shelf?). So already the layout is confusing. Cafés are usually order & then seat. This place doesn't know what it wants to be (a café? A sit down restaurant?) It doesn't help that the hostess (who worked Sunday evening at Nov 23) had this disinterested look on her face & kept clicking on her nails. Also literally the Gen Z stare. She also walked away when I tried to ask questions or follow up on my order (I wanted to order more things). The man who produced my takeout order did the same (just disinterestedly asking me is this your food, & then pushing the takeout bag to me across the counter), so it took 2 more follow ups & me waiting or chasing them down to complete my order with a beverage. The'Persian love' cakes (?) weren't as delicious, moist, fragrant, or large as their previous pastries. I felt cheated with the smaller portion sizes. I am not sure if they changed managament...The lattés are decent though; can't go wrong with anything pistachio. You can come here if you want to feel like being in a beautiful cafe, but food & service is meh.
I rarely write reviews, but this cafe deserves one. I've only been there three times, & it's already become one of my favorite cafés in Montreal. The staff are genuinely kind, every time I walk in, someone greets me with a smile.
The place is bright & spacious, & I love that they keep big tables open for people with laptops. It's the perfect spot to have a coffee & study on weekends for me. Even their music taste is great.
& the desserts are sooo good, I love their pistachio cake 🍰🍰🍰
Mon amie & moi sommes tombées just par hasard sur cette pépite Velora Café Pâtisserie.
Nous étions attirées par la vitrine remplie de pâtisserie bien gourmande & appétissante.
Bel environnement cozy & chaleureux.
Velora cafe is a nice spot to sit & have a coffee, not for a full meal. Overall staff are very friendly & the space is cute.
I would like to preface that at the time of this review it is a new restaurant, however the service is extremely slow. It took nearly an hour for the Dutch baby, the French toast & a granola bowl to come out. We were told it is because all of the bread is made in house, however, I do not think that is reason for it to take as long as it did. Overall it is quite unorganized. We were brought the wrong food, not brought cutlery & had to ask for water multiple times.
The food is good but not worth the 45+ minute wait time. It is also slightly overpriced.
Bel endroit Instagramable à 100%. Café excellent & les pâtisseries super franches j'ai adoré
This is my favorite cafe right now!
1. The tres leches cakes were spooky delicious & moist. We got a pistachio cake which I could smell the real pistachio! The Ferrero cake was not as good, the hazelnut taste was mild, but still delicious. Our Mexican friends confirmed the quality of these cakes.
2. The French toast was done perfectly! A thick slice of brioche bread, crispy outside & pudding inside, with amazing dolce de leches syrup. However, it was not a big portion (at least not for a brunch)
3. We also had Dutch baby shakshuka, again, perfectly done.
The service also was so good, they were so nice & polite. Everywhere was very clean, with nice plates & cups.
Overall, one of the best cafes I've tried in Montreal. I will definitely go again for the cakes but also for trying other pastries.
I love everything about this cafe, the atmosphere, customer service & products, especially the dessert is omggggg😍
Velora Café is a beautiful new spot in Montreal! I didn't get the chance to try their coffee or desserts yet, but the decor alone makes it worth visiting it's impressive, cozy, & gives such a peaceful vibe.
I also had a nice chat with one of the team members, Nika, who was super kind & friendly. She took the time to answer all my questions with a smile. Can't wait to go back soon to try their menu
THIS IS ALI NOOR & THIS IS MY REVIEW
