At Vegateau, we're proud to offer vegan, gluten-free, artisanal pastries, prepared with care and love on site. Quality and freshness are our main concerns. We select the best ingredients to offer unique and delicious flavors. We believe that artisanal patisserie is a precious tradition that deserves to be preserved, which is why we strive to perpetuate this art through our creations. We hope you enjoy our pastries and appreciate the attention we pay to every detail of their preparation.
Vegauté is described as a standout vegan and gluten-free bakery with a growing footprint, including plans for a Mile End location and a smooth online ordering experience. Reviewers praise an appealing range of indulgent desserts that appeal to vegans and non-vegans alike, with favorites like matcha and lemon tarts, eclairs, Paris Brest, pistachio pastries, and a coconut soft serve, though some items can be heavier on flavoring. Many note the high quality and value, with desserts that are beautiful, flavorful, and not overly indulgent at the gluten-free and dairy-free bases, and online orders and delivery are reliable. There are some practical caveats such as the absence of on-site restrooms and occasional questions about seating or service standards. Overall reviews position Vegauté as a go-to for gluten-free vegan pastries, a delightful discovery, and even a preferred wedding cake option.
I love everything there! With my gluten-free & dairy-free diet (vegan until recently), Vegateau is like paradise for me. Their cookies, muffins, cupcakes & tarts are all delicious. Their cakes are the best vegan birthday cakes! My wife doesn't have any food restriction & says the Paris-Brest is the best she's ever had, even when compared to those she ate in France. Highly recommended!
Back for another visit to Vegâteau for their gluten free pastries. Love their coconut based soft serve & matcha cookies.
- Crème glacée classique ($4.95 petit) - great texture & flavour. Always order it classic
- Biscuit matcha ($9.50 for 6) - still the best GF cookies we've found in town
- Entremet à la mangue-fruit de la passion ($6.50) - bright tart flavour. Pistachio base adds a touch of nuttiness

I ordered the raspberry cupcake & pistachio croissant. Both of them were FABULOUS! Prices are good compared to what I've seen for gluten free bakeries.
I live next door & have tried five different things. My favorite was the vegan soft serve with the gluten free cone. So thick, creamy & delicious! & the cone is amazing! I love that they use coconut as their milk of choice.
VERY IMPRESSIVE!! ALL these pastries & desserts are amazing, all gluten-free & dairy-free. The owners of Vegâteau, Marc-Olivier & Jeremy, have taken the time to perfect special recipes so all their family members with different dietary needs can enjoy ALL these scrumptious treats. Perfect for a Low FODMAP diet!! My husband (who can eat anything, no dietary restrictions) was also super impressed with the delicious tastes & textures. After visiting over 100 coffee, pastry & bakery shops in the last 16 days in Toronto & Montreal, this was by faaaaaaar the absolute BEST!! My personal favorite: Paris-Brest!!! How many desserts can you try in 3 days?!? Lots! It's a good thing we were only near this bakery for a limited time or my waist line would have been in serious trouble. Yummy!!! 😋
I was very impressed with this vegan pastry shop. Loved it. First, the desserts are a gorgeous work of art. Very fancy! 2nd, everything I tasted was delicious.3rd, I applaud their sustainability efforts which is important to me. I only support 100% vegan establishments whenever possible & available to me. & they don't use palm oil! They make their own butter! 4th, the owner was really nice. On a side note, I believe that all the desserts are gluten free. I am not gluten free, & not going to lie- I normally avoid most gluten free desserts, because the rare moments I eat dessert I want it to be an indulgent experience not necessarily a healthy one. But it's a win-win if the dessert can be tasty & healthy. Well Vegateau's desserts are a decadent & indulgent experience & a healthier treat! Aside from the cookies, I really couldn't tell that any of the desserts were gluten free (gf). That is a high compliment when a chef can make something vegan &/or gluten free & you feel like you are eating the real thing. That said, my favorite items I tried were: the vegan & gf butter cookie dipped in chocolate; the eclairs, iced chocolate drink & the opera cake. The eclairs are so gorgeous! I have been vegan for 30 years & this was my first time eating a vegan eclair & it made me very happy. Their homemade chocolate is of high quality. If we lived in Montreal, I would come often!
This shop carries a small but beautiful selection of desserts, all vegan & gluten-free. I had the chocolate & pear tart, at the recommendation of staff. It was tasty enough, though not the best of the GF desserts I've found in the city. Wouldn't recommend it for non-vegan/GF folks.

Pastries are delectable. Couldn't even tell they were gluten free. Or vegan. The chef sure knows what he is doing. Just go have some you wont regret it. I will be coming back to try other ones for sure. WoW thats was really good i can still taste them in my mouth.
We've ordered from Vegateau several times & tried a little bit of everything. Each time we were impressed & absolutely delighted with everything. These are truly the best vegan gluten free pastries we've ever had. Last time I got a lemon meringue tartelette & I couldn't believe they got that texture without eggs. I highly recommend trying it out, you won't regret it.
