We enjoyed a great (Wednesday) night at Upstairs. Outstanding service, good food, good company with the folk on adjoining tables & outstanding music from the resident trio for the first set followed by some outstanding musicians in the jam session that followed.View more

It is very disappointing to come to a show at Upstairs only to find that the piano is highly out of tune from the middle C up. While most places only charge one drink minimum for a Jam session, Upstairs charges a cover & on top of that forces you to consume yet they can't afford to tune the piano. It is disrespectful towards the audience & the musicians! Maybe they think people don't notice but it completely ruins the experience, especially for a piano trio setting. If I were one of the musicians having to perform in such a poor-sounding instrument I would be embarrassed.View more

Upstairs Jazz Bar & Grill is an authentic jazz performance club & restaurant. The musicians are top flight & the club' s reputation is such that its the only off-site location for the prestigious Montreal International Jazz Festival. Awesome spot for live jazz, the musicians playing when we were there were just incredible. They have various shows every week. The food was mid, but to be fair you don't really go here for the food. Still pretty good. Our waitress was super nice 😊 Show costs 15$ on top of your meal, but the food is reasonably priced.View more

Montreal is great for live jazz venues, so we went there on a recommendation. Ten dollar cover, but I'm ok with that when there's live music. Really cool atmosphere, & since it was a jam night, there was a wide range of musicians showing off their various talents. Will be stopping in again for sure!View more
