We could barely the band play but that was OK. The sound was very good on the back terrace plus we got to hangout with Steve Turre & the band after has amazing set. We had a great time.View more
Super! Steve Turre Band, du jazz comme on l'aime! À+View more
My wife & I have been going to the Upstairs Jazz Bar & have enjoyed the food, ambience & great jazz for many years. The intimate atmosphere of this iconic jazz club is perfectly suited for both traditional & modern jazz bands to play in. Excellent food & a great bar along with great service contribute to very pleasant & enriching dinner & jazz evenings!
Joel Giberovitch is an outstanding owner & host who has been serving the Montreal jazz community for over 30 years! Upstairs is deservedly a regular venue in the Montreal Jazz Festival.View more
I was able to get a last minute single seat to an amazing performance by Steve Turre's band. It was a front row seat! Not only was the band great, the ambiance was perfect & the staff were some of the nicest I have ever encountered. This is the perfect spot to hear jazz! Thank you!!View more
Fantastic little cozy venue for both music, drinks & dining! Saw/heard jazz singer Laura Anglade & her 3 person band there last night & she/they were the highlight for me, of this year's Montréal Jazz Festival!View more
Great place to see a nice show. It is cozy & feels close to the band. Have plenty of space even sitting at the bar.
Service is great & fast. & the fact that the price of the Thursday show is included makes it easier to manage.View more
Food like always was good. Our server was friendly, prompt & attentive to our welfare. Our only complaint is that we had a poor view of the band & singer due to a blocked view due to a pole & a tall person sitting at an adjoining table. The singer Alex Bird was quite good as was his band.View more
I only took a salad but it was divine. Great portions. Ambiance is great, although I wish they had a great selection of music on their own because once the band was done performing it was pretty boring. 8/10?View more
We thoroughly enjoyed the performance. The singer had an incredible voice, & her wit & humor added a delightful touch. The band complemented her energy perfectly. The food was also excellent. However, if you're planning a reunion or a first date, this bar might not be the ideal spot unless you're planning to spend some time there before or after the show. We initially thought it was a restaurant with jazz music enhancing the experience, but it turns out it's more of a performance venue. We were advised to enjoy the show with minimal interaction & to communicate quietly.View more
Excellente expérience !! Service attentionné, cuisine recherchée & ambiance électrique (le band & la chanteuse Dawn Tyler Watson y sont pour quelque chose c'est sûr). Owner knows how to make everyone feel at home !View more
I didn't eat any food there. We went after a lovely dinner to enjoy the live band & have additional cocktails. Both were amazing! The band was absolutely worth the late night! The band was a blues & a jazz band & they were great!!View more
The place was nice & we sat not far from the stage. One major problem is the layout. The band is playing by the front door. When people came in during the show it was very distracting for us since it was in our view & earshot. The sound was great & so was the show. We would definitely go there again for a show any way.View more
What a wonderful spot. As an Australian I appreciated a place called " Upstairs " where the sign was upside down & the bar is downstairs . I felt like Anelie Poulon herself when I cracked the creme brulee with my spoon . It was light sweet & divinely sensual as I savoured every spoonful. The place was packed with people living the music & the band was on fire ! Staff also were great even able to handle a non French speaking lad like me . Recommended !View more
No drummer with band & I was not impressed. The ambiance was great. Didn't sound like real jazzView more
Really enjoyed our experience here & the band was phenomenal. The service was friendly & attentive & we would definitely come back the next time we visit Montreal.View more
Very unique place.Good food. Great atmosphere. It is small so you need to come early to have a spot before the band starts playing.Overall had a great experienceView more
Never been to a place where they ask you not to talk when the band is playing !! Seriously the waiter came to us & told us to shut up !!!!View more
Great service. Our waiter was attentive but not intrusive. Food was fantastic. We heard the Jazz students from McGill. All of the bands put on great shows. You definitely need to make reservations. It was packed. There's no room for walk-ins. Leave a message; they really do call you back. The tacos were great! Oh & I don't know what they made their fries from, but they were delicious.View more
Saw a band there tonight doing Leonard Cohen classics. Fabulous service. Great food. Great music. Atmosphere was perfect. Will definitely be returning.

Didn't really get to experience the food or drinks there as we went when it was really packed. There was an amazing jazz band playing & we enjoyed the show but from standing near the door as all tables were taken up. In their defense, you probably have to reserve a table much in advance as the place isn't that big to accommodate too many tables.
