Review Summary

Umamia is repeatedly described as a standout sushi spot with ultra-fresh fish, creative rolls, and meticulous preparation that impresses diners who value quality ingredients and elegant presentation. The atmosphere is warm, modern, and inviting, with a calm, refined vibe and a well chosen playlist. Service is generally attentive and friendly, with helpful recommendations, though a few reviews mention slower pacing or occasional inconsistencies. The BYOW concept is a major plus for many, often paired with thoughtful corkage and glassware, while a small number note hidden charges or misalignment with expectations. Dishes such as sashimi, nigiri, and signature rolls like Griffin and Tokyo uramaki are celebrated for balance and freshness, with some meals noting that portions feel modest for the price. Overall Umamia is seen as a premium yet accessible sushi experience, ideal for celebrations or casual dinners, and frequently recommended as one of the best sushi options in Montreal.

Nice place but overpriced for the quality. The Japanese Salad was great but the tuna & salmon sashimi were essentially tasteless. Same for the rolls - you could only taste the sauce & avocado/other ingredients, not the salmon. Service was slow & distracted. Overall ok but there's a mismatch with pricing.
