Review Summary

Overall, Tuck Shop earns praise for fresh, flavorful dishes across a versatile menu, with oysters and the housemade hot sauce often highlighted as memorable, and service described as attentive in a warm, welcoming atmosphere; some visits note the space can be loud at peak hours and a few dishes feel imbalanced or overfussy, but the fish and the duck regularly read as standouts and desserts like chocolate espresso cake and coconut cream pie are favorites. The kitchen is commended for thoughtful plating and seasonal changes that keep the menu exciting, while prices are sometimes considered high and a few guests felt certain meals did not fully land. Still, many leave inspired and eager to return, thanks to strong guidance from staff, a lively open kitchen vibe, and consistently high hospitality.

The culinary finesse & aesthetic appeal of the dishes at Tuck Shop are flawlessly complemented by the staff's top-notch service. As regulars who often celebrate special occasions here, my wife & I are continually charmed by the experience. My go-to dish is the hanger steak served with chimichurri & accompanied by crisp fries, while my wife usually opts for the freshest catch of the day. If available, don't overlook the focaccia - it's a flavour-packed masterpiece that's nothing short of divine.

My husband & I were really disappointed with our dining experience at Tuck Shop. We were celebrating our anniversary & we had made reservations. The restaurant was empty when we went in except for 1 couple. They sat us exactly next to that couple (as if we were a table of 4). The next couple who came in were also seated exactly to our left. Very awkward & uncomfortable for all of us. The cocktail was 19$ plus tax plus tip. I saw the bartender shake it & prepare it in 10 seconds, not even a garnish on it, what a joke. How hard is it to put a sprig of thyme to amp it up? Hoping the food would impress us after all the rave reviews, it really didn’t. We took the hanger steak & fries, horrible meat cut. My knife couldn’t even cut it, imagine chewing it, so nervy. The pork chop was just ok, nothing exciting & would not want to order it again. We had the chanterelle starter on focaccia, once again, nothing memorable & nothing tying it together.

Honestly, 5 star service. Very well treated, as if you're family. Would go back here time & time again just for the ambiance.

I have been here a number of times & have tried many different things. All was fantastic, from the halibut with root puree to the rib steak & fries.

Love this place.
