About

Tsukuyomi Ramen serves authentic Japanese ramen centered around a signature tonkotsu broth that undergoes an extensive boiling process for deep, complex flavor extraction. The menu highlights firm, house-made noodles designed to maintain optimal texture within the rich, creamy pork-based soup. Diners select from various topping configurations, including tender chashu pork, marinated soft-boiled eggs, and crisp wood ear mushrooms that provide a necessary textural contrast. The atmosphere is minimalist and functional, prioritizing the quick consumption of steaming bowls in an open-kitchen environment. Every component is engineered to adhere to traditional ramen craftsmanship, emphasizing broth density and precise noodle calibration. This establishment functions as a dedicated destination for those seeking a focused, unadorned experience rooted in classic Japanese culinary techniques, avoiding unnecessary embellishments to keep the bowl the central point of the meal.

Review Summary

Tsukuyomi Ramen is widely regarded as a top-tier destination for authentic Japanese cuisine in Montreal, frequently praised for its creamy, flavorful tonkotsu broth and high-quality ramen dishes. Guests often highlight the consistent excellence of both meat-based and vegan options, alongside a variety of popular appetizers like karaage, takoyaki, and eggplant. The restaurant is generally noted for its cozy atmosphere, friendly and efficient service, and reasonable pricing, making it a favorite for casual dining. While the majority of feedback is highly positive, some patrons have mentioned inconsistencies with dish temperatures, specific side dish portions, or occasional variations in service, but most agree that the overall quality remains impressive and worthy of repeat visits.

Les nouilles sont excellante, mais le poulet du ramen est sans saveur. Je suis pret à donner une 2e chance, mais j'éviterai le poulet & le bouillon Shio

The food was bland, unfortunately, & the waiter didnt seem to care about anything else than his cellphone. Also no soap in either of the bathrooms...

A more authentic take on ramen with a rich broth. Has a nice Japanese vibe right down to seating.

Long time customer, since their opening. Over the years, there has been many many changes, some good, some disappointing. The very first iteration of the cold ramen (the one with the noodles in an ice bowl & the most delicious dipping sauce ever) was fantastic. The tonkotsu always has been good but sometimes the egg is freezing cold, sometimes the chashu is a very small slice sometimes very generous & thick. Overall, it always was my to-go place. But recently, I am absolutely sure they changed the noodles, which is like the most important part of a ramen bowl. They used to taste fresh & natural. Now, they have that dry & starchy mouthfeel, like the commercial processed noodles we get in instant noodles. They no longer feel bouncy & chewy at all. Just undercooked dehydrated store-bought noodles. They say they didn't change it but the staff there is always new, so they have no clue of the precedent menus over the years. Anyway, broth is still good but the noodles are not worth it anymore. Will now get my ramen fix at Nakamichi
