About

Tsukuyomi Ramen serves authentic Japanese ramen centered around a signature tonkotsu broth that undergoes an extensive boiling process for deep, complex flavor extraction. The menu highlights firm, house-made noodles designed to maintain optimal texture within the rich, creamy pork-based soup. Diners select from various topping configurations, including tender chashu pork, marinated soft-boiled eggs, and crisp wood ear mushrooms that provide a necessary textural contrast. The atmosphere is minimalist and functional, prioritizing the quick consumption of steaming bowls in an open-kitchen environment. Every component is engineered to adhere to traditional ramen craftsmanship, emphasizing broth density and precise noodle calibration. This establishment functions as a dedicated destination for those seeking a focused, unadorned experience rooted in classic Japanese culinary techniques, avoiding unnecessary embellishments to keep the bowl the central point of the meal.

Review Summary

Tsukuyomi Ramen is widely recognized as a top-tier destination for authentic Japanese cuisine in Montreal, frequently praised for its flavorful, rich broths, perfectly cooked noodles, and tender pork chashu. Many patrons highlight the cozy atmosphere, efficient service, and generous portions as key factors in their positive experiences, often recommending the karaage, takoyaki, and various side dishes as excellent accompaniments. While the majority of feedback is glowing, noting the restaurant as a staple for ramen lovers, some mixed reviews point to inconsistencies in dish temperature, occasional seasoning preferences, and concerns regarding the cleanliness of the facilities or portion sizes for certain desserts. Despite these isolated critiques, the overall consensus remains highly favorable, with many customers considering it their go-to spot for a delicious, reliable, and reasonably priced meal.

Stumbled upon this place & what a nice surprise. Tonkotsu broth is excellent - pure, tasty & creamy. Karaage was delicious. Free gyozas with their fifa game day promo. I'd return in a heartbeat.

this was crazy good.

tonkotsu ramen was delicious, milky & fatty broth & delicious pork, & the vegan ramen was super flavourful & had awesome toppings (we did the soy broth).

sometimes veggie ramens can be duller than a fatty meat based one but they were equal if not BETTER!! so good!

thank you tsukuyomi! 🍜

Just happened to passby & went into restaurant in spur of moment for a late lunch quick bite. Was surprised by the light but tasty ramen noodle, clam shoyu based broth, good umami flavor & tender pork spices. Oddly the highlight for me was the side dish Miso Yasai, veggie not sure grilled or pan seared but nicely done with aroma matched wonderfully with sweet & savory miso seasame sauce. Wished I had time & was more hungry to try other dishes.

The eggplant appetizer was great, but the ramen unfortunately was not. My partner got the porc broth with chicken & it was nothing more than average. I got the vegan soy ramen & it was so sweet that I couldn't eat it. The server was very sweet though!!

A delicious bowl of ramen. Broth was flavorful, noodles perfectly cooked & pork chashu tender with a hint of smoke. The chicken karaage was super juicy on the inside & came in a very generous portion. Will definitely be back again.

Went back a second time & got the chicken instead of the pork chashu & it was very juicy & tender. Also tried the tako wasabi & that was very good as well. The wasabi flavour is quite strong which I enjoyed. Probably best to not take a super large portion for the first one.

Update
Went back again & tried the miso ramen, the ship ramen & the eggplant. Everything was excellent. The ship ramen is on the lighter side & the miso on the heavier flavour side.

Best ramen in town. Love the milky fatty broth, very yummy! The spicy yuzu chicken karage (yuzu Nanban) is excellent too, must try! Cozy atmosphere & friendly table service.

We had an excellent time at Tsukuyomi Ramen in Mile End. The atmosphere was inviting, the service was great, & the food was outstanding. The whole family loved it-from the flavorful broth to the perfectly cooked noodles. A must-visit spot for ramen lovers!

Ramen is alright but broth to me was quite bland. I tried it twice to see if it was just a one off.
Matcha Tea is from tea bags (They warn you in advanced so it's fine just disappointing).
Service was decent

As a neighbourhood ramen joint, it's decent, but far from one of the best ramen in Montreal. The broth lacks depth & I'm not fond of the thin white noodles. IMHO, I find nearby Nakamichi, Yokato Yokabai, even Ramen-Ya have better ramen than this place.

Also they cook their broth in sequential batches - what kind of ramen joint only has one pot simmering at a time??? Once I arrived at 12:20pm & did not realize I had just missed a batch. Fortunately I had something to read, but realized over 30 minutes had passed, a rather long time to wait for ramen during lunch hour rush. This means that the guy who got seated next to me 20 minutes after I arrived, only got to wait 10 minutes for his ramen.

If they had communicated this to me when I ordered, it would have helped. But no, I had to ask the server why it was taking 35 minutes to make a bloody bowl of ramen.

Edit: It's been a few years now & I have never come back since. So many better ramen alternatives out there! With prompt service!
