I asked ChatGPT to recommend an authentic Italian restaurant near our hotel in Montreal to take a client for dinner, & Trattoria Trestevere came up as the #1 suggestion. Let me just say-it more than lived up to that recommendation!
From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional-the warm & welcoming atmosphere, the charming location, & above all, the world-class service & food. We were fortunate to be served by the owner himself, who graciously guided us through a lineup of unforgettable appetizers: calamari, zucchini fries, beef carpaccio, prosciutto with melon, & the most incredible mozzarella in carrozza covered in the most delicious tomato sauce....I noticed on the way out a sign that says you can buy the sauces to take home....if I lived in Montreal, I would be buying their sauce by the Liter! Each dish was perfectly prepared & full of authentic Italian flavor.
For our mains, we enjoyed a variety of dishes-from veal parmigiana, seafood linguine, & filet mignon with pasta, to lasagna, rigatoni, & the highlight for me: the homemade spinach & ricotta stuffed pasta (I believe it was called malfatti). Every single person at the table said it was the best Italian food they've ever had. We ended the night with a spread of decadent desserts-tiramisu, crème brûlée, ice cream, & fried gnocchi with Nutella (which was out of this world). We sipped the best cappuccino I've ever tasted & were treated to a round of limoncello by the owner to finish the evening.
This restaurant is a gem-authentic, warm, delicious, & truly unforgettable. It was the highlight of our time in Montreal, & we are already planning to come back. Thank you, Trattoria Trestevere, for a truly special evening. Bless you! 🙏🏻

I wanted to share my recent dining experience at Trattoria Trestevere, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
We started with a unique zucchini & prosciutto melon dish. The zucchini was unlike anything I've had at a traditional restaurant-cut into shoestrings & perfectly spiced, it was a delightful surprise.
For the main course, the veal was cooked to perfection, & my cannelloni was simply delicious. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared & truly enjoyable. The zabaglione dessert for two & the Nutella gnocchi were amazing.
What made the experience even more special was the opportunity to converse with the owner, who shared some fascinating stories about the restaurant.
If you're looking for a wonderful dining experience, I highly recommend Trattoria Trestevere. I assure you, you will not be disappointed!
My husband & I have been coming here for years now & can't recommend it enough. I was baffled by some of the recent reviews so I had to write them a review. Beautiful cozy ambiance, amazing wine selection, quality food & most importantly exceptional service. Love Mauro the owner. He always makes us feel so welcome. All servers are also very friendly. Thanks for another amazing night. We couldn't have asked for more.
My wife & I (both seniors) were looking for a great Italian food. We had veal parmigiana & a salad to share as our appetites are not large at our age. Well the reviews were a lot better than food. Pretty much ordinary except for the prices which were very high. You could do better!
The food was great. My wife & I had the veal marsala. It was tender & a generous serving with a nice side of spaghetti Poma d'oro. The service was efficient & friendly. We enjoyed our meal & intend to return there.
The reason I am giving it 3 stars is mostly due to the service. The food was O-K (lentil soup for entree was bland, veal for the main meal was good, the tiramisu for dessert was delicious). I brought my parents here for their last night in Montreal. They are 80 + years old. My father eats slowly, & the waiter took his salad (entree) away while he was still eating! The waiter didn't even apologize, he just said "the main meal is ready". There was still salad in the plate & my father had his fork in his hand... Then, for dessert, my father ordered the Cassatta Siciliana; which is supposed to be a cake but it was in fact ice cream. They should mention it's ice cream on the menu as he probably wouldn't have ordered it. At the end, while paying, my 80 + year old father has trouble seeing the screen on the debit machine so it took a while for him to proceed with each step. The waiter was pushing him to hurry up which caused a mistake in the transaction & final total. There was no remorse & in fact the waiter was annoyed he took so long. Service was overbearing / impatient & rude. We felt rushed, & there were many empty tables around us as it was a Monday evening.
Amazing food. Tasted like the home cooked favourites I grew up enjoying. Super friendly service too. Portion & quality was worth the price. I enjoyed the veal parmigiana with upgrade to gnocchi as a side (smooth as butter). My date had the seafood linguine & finished his plate (even though he was full two thirds of the way through). I can't wait to go back. Thank you so much

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. My friends & I, a group of 8 decided to visit Trattoria Trestevere before heading to an event at the Bell Center. Cozy ambiance, delicious food, friendly attentive staff. Try their gnocchi rosé, veal marsala & tiramisu. Highly recommend this place!!!
Absolutely Delicious!! The service was impeccable. The fried calamari is out of this world!! We had the breaded veal & the lamb shank -they were both cooked to perfection. We will definitely be going back.

The place is small but very nice & has a comfortable atmosphere. Waiter was courteous & kind. I ordered the Ceasar Salad entrée to a Veal Parmesan with Spaghetti rosé side. The Ceasar Salad was incredible! Best dressing I've had! Veal was cooked perfectly & had great flavour. Pasta was good too, sauce was little watery for my preference. Overall a fantastic experience & I would definitely come back if I was in the area.
Welcoming staff in this warm subterranean restaurant. Decent wine list with choices for every budget. Traditional Italian dishes well prepared & served with care. Veal was delicious & pasta served al-dente. Recommend this for a special occasion.
We were served by a handsome fellow, Mauro who was very helpful in guiding us with our choices. Pasta & veal dishes were delicioso . We will defintely return. The look of the restaurant is a bit old; not trendy at all. Watch your footsteps at the entrance. Once inside, it feels comfy. Tables are well spaced apart for privacy & we were offered a choice of tables, which was very nice of him as we did not have reservations. The house wine, by the glass was surprisingly good. Went down very easy. Tiramisu was "yumful".
