The Keg Steakhouse + Bar opened the doors of its first restaurant in 1971 in Vancouver. Since then, The Keg has expanded across Canada and the US to include over 100 locations. Although its name and décor have changed over time, the dining experience has always stayed consistent. The Keg’s focus has been, and continues to be, on providing exceptional service and quality food in a comfortable atmosphere for its guests.
Quality, comfort and value are three key ingredients that make The Keg experience unlike any other. When it comes to steak, The Keg serves only the finest cuts, aged for tenderness and seasoned with a unique blend. Classic cocktails, delicious appetizers, succulent seafood, and an outstanding wine list round out its classic menu. The Keg’s friendly and knowledgeable staff creates an atmosphere that encourages guests to enjoy, relax and be themselves. Whether you’re getting together with friends or celebrating with family, you’ll always be welcomed with a smile.
The Keg Steakhouse + Bar is consistently praised for the quality and tenderness of its steaks, with filet mignon, prime rib, and baseball sirloin highlighted across reviews, and the sides and sauces generally described as solid, though some mention that veggies can be average or potatoes fine. Service is repeatedly described as professional, attentive, and friendly, with many guests noting that reservations are respected and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, while a few experiences point to slow service or occasional lapses in accuracy during busy times. Allergies and dietary needs are often well-handled, and several guests commend staff for going the extra mile to ensure safe gluten-free options and accommodate allergies; desserts and cocktails also receive praise, and celebratory touches like complimentary birthday treats appear in some visits. Despite occasional critiques about wait times, mis-ordered dishes, or rooms being too dark or loud, overall the reviews frame The Keg as a reliable go-to for steak lovers in the city, delivering strong food quality, consistent service, and a pleasant dining environment, with a note that experiences may vary by location and time of day.
Love going to the keg. Took my nephew for dinner. We both had steaks (filet/ prime rib), which were awesome. Shrimp cocktails were great. First time having steak tartare at the keg - wasn't impressed. Also avoid the high tops in the bar. The booths are too low for the table heights.

Food was not terrible but also not great. Barely passable. I would expect more from any restaurant, especially given the price tag. Service was nice, although they forgot our appetizers. Would not go again.
Catherine at the Lunch Bar is outrageously professional & courteous. I have been coming for lunch at her lunch for 18 years regularly. It's like'Cheers' where she has built a clientele where everyone comes together often for great food & service!
Cat is a true pro & I thank her for all the things she does to accommodate me!
Depuis que j'ai découvert le'bar sitting' au Keg centre ville j'y retourne chaque mois sans faute !! Je n'aime pas luncher seule & Catherine au bar est la meilleur serveuse EVER :) merci !

Still the Best Keg in Montreal. I'm partial to bar seating as I get to watch sports while eating a steak. The staff always goes above & beyond. Keg ceasar please!
Absolutely stellar experience! We were just passing through from the Maritime provinces on our way to Europe & decided to stop in-& we're so glad we did. Sitting at the bar, we were lucky enough to have Mark as our server. From the moment we sat down, he was warm, inviting, & genuinely attentive. His level of service was outstanding-something we don't often come across, even in our travels. Mark made us feel welcome & valued, & his friendly, personable nature truly elevated our experience. Exceptional customer service like this deserves to be recognized. Thank you, Mark-you were a highlight of our journey!
Super service !

How can you not love the best prepared meat in town, personally we come here for the prime rib but the rest of the cuts are superb, the T-Bone is worth a try, delicious, & the bacon wrapped scallops were so juicy with a hint of sweetness i swear I could have eaten 2 plates of just that, we go often to the Keg, you can always count on the most perfectly cooked piece of meat you'll ever have. & gotta order the tuna tartare, I always get that to start, so well prepared, absolutely packed with flavor, the only problem was the music, it was so loud i had to scream at my guests & I couldn't hear my husband who was sitting right next to me, I asked the manager to lower it but I'm not sure I noticed a difference, my throat hurts from yelling at my guests for 3 hours this is why I removed the atmosphere stars, there is no reason for it to be like a club loud or a bar, it's a dinner, I want to talk normally & be able to hear my guests, this was a major issue for me.

Everything on our plates were barely room temp (prime rib, twice baked potato, etc) - definitely sitting under a heat lamp for a while. Also gave us both food poisoning at night.
Not as nice as their other locations. (Montreal old town) Though I like their care with gluten free options! (My wife's a celiac). Very attentive staff! Great bar! Burgers are so so.
Best Place in Montréal for steaks lovers...The Keg Steakhouse & Bar in Montreal is part of a well-known Canadian chain famous for its high-quality steaks & vibrant atmosphere.
Just sat at the bar but the bartenders were really nice & attentive despite being obviously busy. Food was great. Was in Montreal for a conference & ended up going twice. Great service both times.
The meats looked good & always love classic prime rib - that looked best. It was noisy w lots of cliche club music. The bar didn't have a divide so you just look at the person across from you. I didn't eat enough to give a real review, but...the crab cakes were crabby which is most important - the crust & cooking didn't help, but were medium. Dip was too salty - lots of salt. Presentation not good. Wedge salad - lettuce wasn't quite cold enough, but it was a good medium wedge salad. Extra cold helps - its supposed to be refreshing. Chilled utensils help too. Was a medium - Bleu cheese was mediocre. The customer's were interesting. Oh, my dirty martini wasn't drinkable - had some sweet floral flavor in it. The coors light was cold & fresh.
