Reviews of The Comedy Nest describe it as a beloved Montreal venue with an intimate, historic feel and a strong, varied lineup that reliably delivers laughs and good value on drinks and tickets. The overall tone is positive, with many calling it a must-visit English-language comedy spot and praising the energy of the host and the quality of acts, including standout headliners and solid openers. New Year’s and other nights alike are described as enjoyable, with bubbly and drinks adding to the experience. However, some guests report service quirks and seating oddities, such as being directed to a table with other guests or conflicting messages about sold-out status despite visible empty tables, and others note limited food options aside from snacks, which can feel overpriced. The venue’s character and staff are repeatedly highlighted, and many say they will return, appreciating the sense of tradition and the reliable laughs that The Comedy Nest provides for a night out.
If you're looking for something to do in Montreal on the weekend this is definitely it! The comedians always put on a great show. The staff are so sweet & the tickets are so cheap!

I recently visited The Comedy Nest & unfortunately, my experience was disappointing overall.
One major inconvenience was that the bathroom is not located inside the comedy club itself - you have to leave the venue & walk toward the arcade area to use the restroom, which really disrupts the evening.
The drink options were quite limited, & I was surprised that they don't offer a complimentary glass of water - you're required to purchase bottled water instead.
Service was also lacking. The waitress took only part of our order & rushed off while I was still speaking. When I tried to continue, she mentioned that other clients were arriving, which felt dismissive & unprofessional.
While some of the comedians were funny, it wasn't enough to make up for the overall experience.
Unfortunately, I would not recommend & would not return.
Went on Valentine's night with my partner, & we were both really disappointed.
When we were being sat, the employee brought us to a table with another couple & pointed to it, saying'you can sit here, they are a lovely couple'.
Given that we were at a comedy club coupled with the fact that there were about 15 empty tables nearby, I thought the employee was doing a bit. I half-jokingly said,'are you serious...?' to which the employee very abruptly said,'we are fully sold out tonight, so yes, I am serious'.
I looked around the room & gestured towards the several empty tables, & the employee shrugged,'I guess you can sit over there then'.
My partner & I walked ourselves to an empty table (which was surrounded by several other empty tables), & by the time everyone had been seated, there were still 10 or so completely empty tables. Very bizarre.
The drinks were good & well-priced, but we were disappointed to see the only food on the menu was a small basket of popcorn (for I think $7?) & nachos & salsa, for an equally absorbent price.
Overall, we won't be back as while the comedians were funny, we'll go see them at a different venue with better customer service & snacks.
We're visiting Montreal & wanted to do something different for New Year's eve & laughing into the new year sounded great. The Comedy Nest didn't disappoint. All 5 comics were terrific & the bubbly & food was a nice touch. Highly recommended.
