Sitting on the 5th floor of Hôtel Nelligan is a rooftop welcoming guests & locals to lounge, eat, sip & admire the views of Old Port. Embodying urban elegance nestled in timeless architecture, the redesigned space is meant to elevate your summer with signature cocktails, an elaborate menu and a leisurely atmosphere from morning to night, with DJs on weekends.
Terrasse Nelligan offers a stunning rooftop setting with panoramic views of the Old Port and Notre-Dame, a beautiful terrace, and a vibrant yet relaxed ambiance that makes it a standout spot for sunset moments and evenings with friends. The drinks and cocktails are frequently praised for creativity and quality, while the menu delivers a range of Mediterranean inspired dishes and fresh seafood that many guests enjoyed, though a few find some items a bit pricey or uneven in execution. Service is described as attentive and friendly when staff are available, with positive notes about quick, efficient service and helpful staff, but there are occasional moments of slower or inconsistent service in busy crowds. Overall, Terrasse Nelligan is repeatedly highlighted as a top place to soak in the view, savor good drinks, and enjoy a memorable terrace experience in Montreal.
This place is an absolute gem in the heart of the old port! My recent visit was nothing short of spectacular. The dishes were not only beautifully presented but also packed with flavor. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite. The salad was fresh & crisp, the octopus was perfectly tender with a delightful char, & the fries were crispy & seasoned to perfection. Each plate was a true culinary delight. The service was impeccable, thanks to our wonderful waiter, William. He was friendly, attentive, & very knowledgeable about the menu. William made sure our experience was smooth & enjoyable from start to finish. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience in the city. A special thanks to William for making our visit so memorable. I can't wait to return!

After months of passing by Terrace Nelligan, I noticed one thing: it's always busy on weekends. Whether the crowd is spilling over from the hotel or flocking specifically to the restaurant, one thing was certain-I had to take my wife there. After all this time, I decided to drop by spontaneously without a reservation, curious to see if the glowing reviews lived up to the hype. One thing that stands out about Terrace Nelligan is the staff. They are truly one of a kind. The team is incredibly observant, anticipating needs before they even cross your mind. It's a rare skill, & it made our experience all the more seamless. What really elevates the service, though, is their attitude-warm, welcoming, & genuinely positive. For us, this wasn't just another night out; it was a Tuesday that felt like a packed Friday, thanks to our servers, Marie & Ann-Christine, who made the evening unforgettable. We initially visited just to enjoy the views from the rooftop patio. Old Montreal has its share of recommended rooftop spots, but in my humble opinion, Terrace Nelligan is a hidden gem. Whether you're seated at the back with a view of La Grande Roue de Montréal or at the front facing the Notre-Dame Basilica, you're in for a rare treat, especially on a sunny late afternoon. We ordered the "Plateau de Fromages & Charcuteries" which was beautifully presented on a wooden board, showcasing an array of cheeses, cured meats, & accompaniments. The variety & quality of the ingredients were immediately apparent, making it an ideal starter to share. Cheeses: The selection of cheeses included both local & imported varieties, each offering a distinct flavor profile. From creamy brie to sharp cheddar, the cheeses were perfectly paired with dried fruits & nuts, adding a delightful contrast to the richness. Charcuterie: The cured meats were equally impressive, with thinly sliced prosciutto, salami, & other artisanal cuts. The meats were tender & flavorful, highlighting the skillful curing process. The inclusion of pickles & olives provided a refreshing tang that balanced the savory elements. Accompaniments: The board also featured a selection of artisanal breads & mini-pickle, which complemented the cheeses & meats nicely. The fig jam added a touch of sweetness, while the grainy mustard offered a bit of heat, making each bite a well-rounded experience. Pairing: We paired the Plateau with a bottle of 2021 Gemtree Dragon's Blood Red Wine. The wine's bold & fruity notes enhanced the flavors of the charcuterie & cheeses, creating a harmonious balance that elevated the overall dining experience. Overall Experience: The "Plateau de Fromages & Charcuteries" at Terrace Nelligan is a must-try for anyone looking to indulge in a sophisticated & flavorful appetizer. The combination of high-quality ingredients, attentive service, & stunning views makes it a standout dish. Whether you're a local or a visitor to Montreal, this platter is sure to impress & leave a lasting impression.
The food was really not fresh The bagel was dry We changed a stage ingredient & asked instead of cream cheese, in fact we got cheese that was tasteless & without the texture of cream The price is not worth the dish, only the view is beautiful
Beautiful space with excellent views. I've eaten there several times but found the same dishes to be inconsistently prepared. Sometimes missing ingredients or cooked differently. But it's always still pretty good.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Old Montréal. This hotel is very professional & the rooms are lovely. We had breakfast included which is lacking . The coffee isn't hot, & refills are difficult to get. You are only given a few items to choose from but others not on the plan get better service. Feel second class. The hotel itself is love.t. Beautiful appointed rooms & amenities.

We knew we wanted to stay in the Old Montreal area so we can easily walk the neighborhood attractions (river only 2 blocks away- don't skip the ferris wheel views!) & access to great restaurants but have never visited Montreal before so were choosing our hotel blindly. I later learned that locals enjoy this hotel a lot so they clearly have a good local reputation. Our group stayed in early Sept 2023 & our stay was made extra enjoyable by Chris & Shalana - honestly, the entire team from valet parking to check-in to reservations was friendly & helpful. Rooms were styled in a moody lofty modern way & were very clean - we would definitely recommend this hotel. We drove in but left our car with valet the remaining 3-nights & mostly walked (this area was very heavy with pedestrians so would not be easy to navigate by car but didn't need it anyway), & only took an Uber to the Botanical Gardens (can easily spend all day there) & scored a great dinner reservation at Liverpool House which was not in easy walking distance. We also enjoyed dinner one night at the hotel - very lively & festive atmosphere & great for cocktails & a light dinner. I don't remember the other restaurant names but within walking distance we had crepes, poutine & the cutest cafe's for breakfast, we basically ate our way thru the City. My only wish is that they had more rooms with double-queen beds so I can go back with other family/friends that I don't want to share a bed. Mostly King beds which are perfect for romantic getaways. Overall Old Montreal was incredibly beautiful & Hotel Nelligan made a great location from which to explore.
Service was impeccable. Every interaction was positive. The breakfast at Nelli was delicious. Location was perfect. We could walk to everything. The rooms were beautiful, however if your neighbors are loud, it sounds like they are right in your room. This was the one annoyance. I would still highly recommend.
We recently enjoyed a spectacular stay at Hotel Nelligan. The staff were incredibly warm & friendly. The doormen/ bellhops, front desk staff, housekeeping team - they all provided amazing service. Their kindness was evident throughout our entire stay. Our room was clean & spacious. The exposed brick vibe is stunning. Toiletries were luxurious & in abundance. The hotel is in a prime location in the heart of Old Montreal. We loved our nightly walks throughout the beautifully lit cobblestone streets of Old Port! Mornings consisted of a quick walk down to Nelli Cafe, to enjoy a complimentary freshly brewed drip coffee.
Overall Hotel Nelligan is quaint & charming- & I would highly recommend it. Thank you to the amazing staff for making it such a memorable stay for us!
