Sitting on the 5th floor of Hôtel Nelligan is a rooftop welcoming guests & locals to lounge, eat, sip & admire the views of Old Port. Embodying urban elegance nestled in timeless architecture, the redesigned space is meant to elevate your summer with signature cocktails, an elaborate menu and a leisurely atmosphere from morning to night, with DJs on weekends.
Terrasse Nelligan impresses with breathtaking rooftop views of the Old Port and Notre Dame Basilica, a chic yet relaxed ambiance that fits brunch, sunset drinks, and evenings with friends. The service is frequently described as attentive and warm, with staff going the extra mile to accommodate groups and ensure a smooth experience. The beverage program shines with creative cocktails and a strong selection of beers and wines that pair well with a varied menu, and the food features popular items like ceviche, lobster roll, grilled salmon, and Mediterranean inspired dishes that many diners rate highly. The terrace itself is repeatedly called beautiful and photogenic, offering a prime setting for photos, conversations, and enjoying the city skyline, while convenient options like valet contribute to a seamless visit. Taken together, the combination of views, atmosphere, and reliably solid drinks and dishes makes Terrasse Nelligan a memorable Montreal rooftop venue, though a few reviews note occasional pacing or value fluctuations.
Beautiful terrace with an amazing view & great ambiance! Food & drinks are real good.
One thing tough, my waiter was almost inexistant & when I saw him & try to call him or make eye contact he never looked my way or come to see me. To get my first drink was a struggle.
I finally had to ask another waitress from another section for a second drink & food. For the bill I ask that same waitress again. She was sweet & service was quicker with her.
Didn't go for food but got drinks. Aperol spritz was amazing one of the best I've had. Really cool being on the rooftop to the hotel too. McAllister loved it

It's fine if you're just here for drinks. But when it comes to the food-forget it. The team in the kitchen are amateurs doing their best, yet the chef & the menu feel completely out of sync. I've never seen a Niçoise salad look so much like a Caesar...
We came here for dinner & had the chance to enjoy the full sunset - the view & atmosphere were absolutely amazing! 🌇 Terrasse Nelligan is definitely one of the best spots in the city for drinks, the cocktails & appetizers were both excellent & really set the mood.
That said, I wouldn't strongly recommend it for dinner if you hungry. We ordered beef, but unfortunately had to wait more than 30 minutes for the main course, which was a bit disappointing.
Other than the long wait, everything else was great. I would still highly recommend coming here, especially to watch the sunset with a drink in hand - it's a beautiful & memorable experience.
While visiting the lovely city of Montreal our local friends took us here. It was a perfect way to spend the afternoon. The ambiance & views were wonderful. Great drinks & delicious food. Our server Louise was amazing. She recommended a few items from the menu we loved while providing excellent service. Whether you are local or visiting this is the perfect spot to relax with friends.

Drink was good & a beautiful view of the old port. Waiter was very friendly. The food was not good. It was almost 30 dollars for a burger & it didnt come with anything , no fries, that was extra.
The burger was a little burnt & it did not taste that good.
Cool view & nice drinks but I would not order any food as the price is too much!
We went to Terrasse Nelligan in the Old Port for one of my girlfriend's birthday brunch to start off our day, & it was such a great choice. The atmosphere was amazing with beautiful views over the Old Port, & our waitress was so sweet & attentive. We all had the Purple Haze drink, which has a hint of lavender, & it was absolutely incredible-I would honestly go back just for that drink.
Two of us had the lobster roll, which was next level - so fresh, buttery, & flavorful, easily the star of the meal. Two of us had the Nelligan burger with cherry marmalade, which was good & a solid classic, but definitely didn't compare to the lobster roll. One of us had the roasted butternut squash, which was delicious & comforting, & we also tried the shrimp bao buns, which were super tasty as well. We shared a cheesecake for dessert, which was the perfect sweet ending.
The views here are gorgeous, & on a nice sunny day, it's the perfect place for brunch or lunch. They also have valet, which is super convenient in the Old Port. Overall, Terrasse Nelligan is 100% worth visiting, especially for the lobster roll, the Purple Haze drink, & the beautiful summer vibes. Can't wait to go back!
Terrasse Nelligan was okay, the food was a little bland & their water is lukewarm. The service was good, but very slow. My table ordered the oysters (very good, 7.5/10) the tuna tartare (7/10), truffle parm fries (8/10), the katsu chicken sando (very dry, chicken tastes like frozen food, it wasn't katsu it was nuggets, sauce is only on top so the bread is very dry & it's not very pleasant when you try to eat it; 4/10), the salade niçoise (5/10, the tuna tasted weird, the rest didn't really taste like anything) & finally the shrimp bao (6/10). As for the drinks we had strawberry mojitos, they were good. Overall, it was an ok experience, I wouldn't recommend this place for their food, but it's a nice spot for pictures.

Nelligan Terrace is a top spot if you're looking for lively energy, stylish crowds, & stunning rooftop views. The atmosphere here is what really makes it: a retractable awning offers comfort whether you're enjoying the sun or hiding from a surprise rain shower, & the music is always popping, setting a vibrant tone without overwhelming conversation. It draws a young, attractive crowd, making it feel like a social scene worth checking out.
The food, however, is a mixed bag. The ceviche is definitely not what you'd expect if you're used to the bright, citrus-forward flavors of Mexican-style ceviche-it leans in a more neutral, subtle direction that might not satisfy traditional ceviche fans. The oysters are on the smaller side, but they pack solid flavor for their size. Skip the hummus-bland & forgettable. The chicken katsu sandwich is more of a classic fried chicken sandwich than a true katsu, but it's still tasty. The French fries are well-executed, crispy & seasoned just right, & the roasted butternut squash is a surprisingly solid choice if you're looking for a comforting side.
Drinks are another strong point here-well-balanced & thoughtfully made, perfect for enjoying while taking in the rooftop ambiance.
Overall, Nelligan Terrace is more about the experience & the setting than it is a foodie destination. That said, a few menu hits & good drinks keep it worth the visit. Just be sure to make a reservation-the place fills up quickly, & it's not one you'll want to miss.
Audrey is an excellent waitress, the ambiance is beautiful & the views are immaculate. Somehow the food & drinks were still the highlight of the evening! I highly recommend spending the evening at the rooftop bar! They accommodated our large party perfectly.
I've been coming to this terrasse for years now & always have an enjoyable time. The drinks are creative & well-made, & while the food portions are on the smaller side, the quality is consistently good.
Unfortunately, on our last visit, the experience was disappointing. The terrasse was clearly overbooked, with tables packed so tightly together that we had to physically move our table just to get to the washroom. We had no privacy whatsoever, & it was difficult to maintain a conversation without being distracted by the neighbouring tables' conversations, given the close proximity-barely even an arm's length away. The overall guest experience definitely suffered as a result. Space optimization is important, but not at the expense of guests' comfort & enjoyment.
