We tried Sushi Taketa, & their sashimi & rolls were amazing! However, we weren't impressed with the other dishes, especially the different barbecue options. If I go back, it'll definitely be just for the sushi.
Came here with my partner. We tried to book before coming, they said no need. We showed up. There are many places available to sit, yet they asked us to wait. We waited 15minutes then other people came that didn't reserve & they gave them a table. It just shows how lost the staff is.
Service is everything!!!! The service here was just amazing, all the waiters & waitresses are so great! Isabella & everyone were so kind & joking around, so kind. All the food was great, & the sashimi was so fresh! Will definitely be coming back
Très bonne expérience ! Le service était super rapide & les plats sont arrivés rapidement. Un grand merci à Grace, qui était vraiment sympathique & très attentionnée.
Même s'il y a eu une coupure de courant pendant notre repas, l'équipe a très bien géré la situation & a rapidement trouvé une solution. Malgré cet imprévu, tout s'est très bien passé. Excellent service du début à la fin, je recommande vivement !
Sunday AYCE Lunch Review.
I had tried Taketa Sushi when they first opened & wasn't impressed, but after seeing a lively debate in a Facebook group claiming it was the best AYCE sushi in the West Island, I decided to give it a second chance.
Walking in for Sunday lunch, the front door was wide open. The AC was down, but there was no notice posted. Inside was packed & very warm, which made the meal noticeably less enjoyable. The environment alone dropped the score for me.
Service, however, was excellent. Staff were fast, dishes arrived promptly, & they cleared plates as we went. Super efficient team - they absolutely earned a full five stars for service.
Food quality was inconsistent. The salmon sashimi came out room temperature, while the white oil fish in the first round was still partially frozen. In the second round, the white fish didn't arrive at all, maybe because it was still frozen & they didn't want to serve it or they ran out. The salmon pieces were small, likely tail cuts or second cut & lacked flavor.
Tempura also missed the mark: no dipping sauce, lotus root tempura wasn't served, & the sweet potato tempura had such thick batter that the inside was still raw. The shrimp fried roll was extremely salty - enough to make me question the freshness. Communication for items not served could have been a simple heads up instead of ignoring the order.
The salt & pepper tofu was tough & rubbery, though the fried tofu with bonito was genuinely delicious: simple, crispy, & comforting.
This is just my personal experience & taste - it doesn't mean Taketa is a bad place. The restaurant was packed with young groups, families, & couples. It clearly caters to anyone looking for an'everyday, any?day' sushi spot with lots of choices for everyone.
Overall, I came back hoping the second visit would match the hype, but aside from the great service, the hot dining room & uneven food made the experience fall short. Nothing stood out enough to make me want to return.
Me & my boyfriend come here very frequently, & we are never disappointed. The service is always very fast, the food is always very fresh & cooked well. The servers are always very welcoming & make for a great experience.
