Absolutely terrible experience. We came here expecting a normal all-you-can-eat sushi dinner, but instead we spent a large portion of the meal waiting for food that never arrived. We repeatedly asked the staff where our missing orders were, & instead of bringing them out, they kept making us wait until they eventually announced that the kitchen was no longer serving food.
At that point, we explained that we had never received a lot of what we ordered & asked for a discount since we were being charged for an all-you-can-eat meal that we never actually got to eat. They refused to offer any significant discount & expected us to pay essentially the full price despite failing to serve us the food we ordered.
What made this even worse was how we were treated. As teenagers, it genuinely felt like they thought they could take advantage of us because they assumed we wouldn't stand up for ourselves. Instead of trying to fix their mistake or come to a fair solution, they threatened to call the police simply because we were asking to be treated fairly.
We weren't trying to get free food. We just wanted the meal we paid for or a fair adjustment to the bill after they failed to serve a large portion of our order. The customer service was disrespectful, unprofessional, & completely unacceptable. I will never be coming back, & I strongly recommend that others avoid this restaurant if they expect to be treated with basic fairness & respect.
⭐⭐☆☆☆
We visited on Father's Day &, unfortunately, the experience did not live up to our expectations.
First impressions matter, & the entrance area looked quite neglected & uninviting. Once seated, service was disappointing from start to finish. No one asked if we wanted drinks, soft drinks, or anything to start. We had to repeatedly ask for water, & even then it was often forgotten, requiring us to ask again.
The food arrived very slowly & without any coordination. For example, the General Tao chicken was served well before the rice, which doesn't make much sense since they are meant to be enjoyed together. Dishes seemed to arrive randomly rather than as complete meals.
As for the food itself, it was acceptable but nothing particularly memorable. Given the reviews & reputation, we were expecting more.
I understand that parties of five or more are automatically charged a 15% gratuity, & to be fair, the restaurant is very transparent about this policy. However, it's difficult to understand the justification when there is minimal interaction with the service staff. Orders are placed through your phone, no one takes your order, & various staff members simply drop off dishes at the table with very little engagement.
Considering it was Father's Day, I expected the restaurant to be extremely busy, but it wasn't. After our experience, I think I understand why.
Will I return? Maybe, maybe not. For comparison, Matsuno Sushi Fusion offers noticeably better service, better food, & a much more enjoyable overall atmosphere. Based on this visit, it would be my first choice.
Les meilleurs sushis que j'ai goûter depuis mon arrivée à Montréal, je recommande
During the weekend, Taketa serves the best sushi when compared with similar all you can eat sushi places in the West Island. During the week the menu leaves a little to be desired. The staff is super friendly & attentive
Today was my girlfriend's birthday, & we came here full of excitement & high expectations. Unfortunately, everything that happened made us regret choosing this restaurant.
First, we waited almost 40 minutes before being seated. It wasn't just us, many other guests who had reservations & arrived around the same time were also left waiting at the front desk. On a busy Friday evening, there were only four people working in the front of the house. Everyone looked exhausted, & the level of service was far below what one would expect from a restaurant in this price range.
If that had been the only issue, we might have been able to overlook it. However, things became even worse after we were seated. We ordered salmon sashimi & sweet shrimp sashimi. The salmon sashimi was mediocre at best, but what really shocked us was the sweet shrimp sashimi, which had an unpleasant smell & taste that suggested it was not fresh. It honestly reminded us of the smell of garbage.
As for the rest of the food, there is not much to say. The sushi was acceptable, but most of the other dishes felt like pre-made or mass-produced items. At this price point, customers should not be treated this way.
We chose this restaurant because of the many positive reviews & hoped to spend a wonderful evening celebrating my girlfriend's birthday. Instead, this dinner completely ruined our mood.
There was essentially no real service. In fact, I wouldn't even call them servers, they were simply food runners. They brought dishes to the table without any communication, without a smile, & even delivered the wrong dishes multiple times. Yet despite this level of service, customers are still expected to pay an 18% gratuity.
I would strongly suggest that management schedule more staff instead of overworking the employees. The staff clearly seemed overwhelmed, & the restaurant was understaffed for the volume of customers.
Overall, I hope anyone reading this review will think carefully before deciding whether to dine here. At nearly $60 per person, there are many better dining options available. Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience from start to finish.
When you first come they serve you fast then after that they don't bring you water , you order & waaaaaaait until you get your order , I orderd 16 fruit sushi I got only 8 , I ordered ice cream it took them 15 min then I had to go ask for it . & after you stay an hour they don't take the empty plates . They should get more staff to serve. It's 50$ per person & we where 7, so for 350$ it's a very bad service.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
It was our first time.
We went on a busy Friday, it's understandable that there would be a lot of people.
But it took 2 hours for them to prepare our initial order of sushi & starters, we had to follow it up but we were told to order another batch so we did, they gave us the second batch of order & few minutes later they have given us the initial order. So disorganized.
With all these being said, we don't know what went wrong. The service or the way they process their orders should be improved.
PRICE: I personally think it just doesn't make sense that they charge 4 year olds who only eats a little for $18?
I don't recommend this restaurant for family who have a 4 -year old &/or kids who picky eaters, it's not worth for the price you are paying.
Not to mentioned for big groups you are obliged to pay 15% service fee regardless of the not so good service you have received.
I liked their signature Taketa sushi though & the atmosphere is nice so they get a 3 star for those reasons.
