Offering a refreshing, contemporary, and all-vegan Japanese cuisine, Sushi Momo is a sophisticated twist from traditional Japanese sushi. With 10 years of experience, chef Christian Manuel Ventura Alatorre opened Sushi Momo in December 2014, and has been getting much praise from day one. Christian's creations are both enjoyable and extremely creative. Christian wanted to give Montrealers the most options for vegan sushi in the entire city.

Went here with four people & had the omikase. Flavours were great, I love mushrooms & that came through really well. Atmosphere is nice & cosy & provided a great environment to catch up.
Appetizers were great, soup was great, dessert was fine, & the sushi was good. But as a non-vegetarian it does not serve as a replacement for sushi. The flavours are great & they have some really interesting fusions, but most of the rolls rely on sauces to get their flavour. That's ok, & they taste good, but they are heavier & not equivalent for standard sushi.
This is solid vegan food in a nice setting, but it is not a sushi replacement.View more

Beautiful experience! Everything we were brought was delicious & the incredible variation of flavours & textures in each piece was a testament to the chefs abilities! I'm going to be thinking of the miso soup broth for a long time... Also worth noting that each roll is so packed with flavour that I never considered adding soy sauce, which I've never experienced before now. Every member of the wait staff we interacted with was great & we could tell that folks around us were enjoying their evening as much as we were. The layout made us feel pretty secluded despite being next to three other tables, & we couldn't hear others' conversations which I appreciated. The music at one point got a bit bumping but it mellowed down after not too long. Dim lighting & candles contribute to the cozy atmosphere. We spent a decent sum here (incl drinks) but it was expected & we both felt like we got what we paid for. Will be returning to try more in the near future!View more

An outstanding experience, Momo defies expectations. The flavours & textures here are fantastic, authentic, & thoughtful. We had Krispi Sushi (avocado black garlic) which had divine mouth feel & subtle, delicious flavour. Also had the Delhi futomaki, which was a lovely hit of sweet & delicious Japanese curry flavour wrapped around several tasty sushi fillings & rice. Not a huge punch of sauce, rather a perfect balance of flavours. The waitresses were thoughtful, attentive, funny & relaxed, & knew their food! Presentation was great, & the ambience was intimate, comfortable & cozy. This place for this win, great work Momo!!View more

Got lucky with a spot on the patio on a Friday night. Service was wonderful, staff were excited to present each item. Service was not quick but felt like a good pace to enjoy the different options. Everything was delicious, though many options feel like they are packing a lot of different flavours into a single roll. All in all we had a great time & would recommend this to anyone looking for good plant based options. We previously (2021) tried this restaurant as take-out & would recommend eating at the restaurant over take-out!View more

My friend & I ordered from sushi Momo last night, as there was a deal on Uber eats, & never having tried it before I was interested. I had no idea it was vegan until our order came. Let me tell you, this was the most delicious meal I've had in a long time. I'm a die hard sushi lover, but this meal had me rethinking my love for fish, as it what so delicious being completely vegan. The variety of rolls I got, the flavour combinations & quality left us speechless! The Miso soup was also fantastic. 110% recommend & will be returning.View more

Before I visited here I heard many good things but this place was so much better than what I was expecting. The restaurant itself is stunning. So natural & beautiful. A earthy & simple vibe which relaxed me but when the food started coming it was anything but simple. The flavours were so complex & I could tell that so much effort went into each dish, each sushi roll & everything we were served. The presentation was amazing & the service was great. I was very impressed & I think I will need to stop in here on every trip I make to Montreal because this place was heaven!View more

Vegan food at its finest! Incredible restaurant. My first time trying vegan food & I was so lucky I was able to try Momo Sushi. Super complex in flavour, I was intrigued! Extremely delicious food. A must go when in Montreal! Service was also excellent. The coworkers are super friendly & explain every dish. I had the Omakase menu & can only recommend. A fair amount of food (for me was more than enough) & the price is just excellent. Overall a wonderful experience. Congratulations to this incredible idea & the hard work!View more

Visited the dine in location today with my wife May 2024 & it was amazing. We are here on a trip from Hamilton, ON. We are vegetarian & this was hands down the best vegetarian sushi we have both ever eaten. The only thing that comes close is Tenon in downtown Toronto which is amazing this this is at another level when it comes to creativity, flavours & presentation. Overall this was an expert display of textures. I thought that every dish was a delicate combination of crunch, soft along with mixtures of umami, sweet, salty & spicy. For appetizers we got the Japanese Arancini which was hot crunchy & loved the sauces. Next for Futomaki we got the Chou-Chou (top row with yellow coating). We loved the tempura cauliflower inside. The middle row coated in avocado was the big momo which was my favourite - highly recommend. The bottom row was the GYU maki tempura which was also amazing. On the left edge was the Aubergine Falmbée (flamed eggplant) crispy rice - this one was amazing & the flammed eggplant created unique flavour that we never tasted before & was amazing. On the right edge was the avocat & ail noir (Avacado & Black garlic); my only comment would that this one tasted like a guacamole topping & perhaps next time I would try one of the other Cripsy rice Overall I thought it was amazing & was worth the price. I will be coming back here if I ever visit Montreal again & will be bringing friends & family here in the future. Service was great too considering we were English speakers. My only other comment would be that an English menu would be helpful as I kept having to enter the a picture onto Google translate.View more

One of the best Vegan sushi restaurants in canada. Consistent in their flavours, textures & taste. Been coming here every trip to Montreal past few years & found the good quality the same. Exceptional service & good ambiance Never have I seen such innovative flavours in vegan/ vegetarian sushi. Great combos & interesting options. Always spoilt for choosing what to order. Will always be one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal. Unique, bursting with flavour, so well balanced. I hesitate to even call this vegan sushi because as a non vegan myself there's alot of misconceptions & bias when people hear that. This is not supposed to taste or mimic sushi. It's its own creation & is genius. Deserving of a Michelin star for sure. 10/10View more

I ordered the hitori menu for delivery. Visually, the sushi are really appealing & well presented on the box. There was a 2 for 1 special so I had the chance to try out 6 different sushi flavours. The hitori menu came with edamame & option between miso or gyoza. I chose miso & ordered gyoza separately. Although the sushi looked beautiful, they were really dense, heavy & covered with sauce. Most of them had mushroom & sweet potato, & these two vegetables are really heavy. Sushi should never be heavy whether vegetarian or not. It is meant to be light. After eating only 6 pieces, my stomach is so full & bloated. I was hoping to add this resto to my list of favourites so that I could Uber Eats from there, but unfortunately, I'll have to pass on this. Nice try Sushi Momo but definitely not for me. Oh, the edamame sprinkled with a unique topping was the one item that tasted decent. Even the miso was so-so - rather salty just like the gyoza & the sushi.View more

As somebody who doesn't consume fish, I'd never thought I'd be able to experience the pleasures of a fine omakase, but Sushi Momo allowed me to do so, without falling short of expectations.
I had their set-menu, which included an oyster shooter, a mango-soba salad, chef's choice of sushi, & a brownie.
The shooter was made of savoury, stringy oyster mushrooms in a slightly tangy sauce with a crispy chip on top.
The mango-soba salad was great, I enjoyed how the fried onions provided a flavorful & textural contrast to the luscious noodles, same with the radish & greens. However, the mangos were underripe & overly tart.
Chef's choice of sushi rolls provided to me were the Delhi, Tropical, & Oyster Mushroom, Caviar, & Truffle.
Delhi was reminiscent of Japanese curry, with crispy fried kabocha & peppers on a roll with konjac shrimp & a light curry flavour behind it.
Tropical was a refreshing punch, of mango, coconut, freeze-dried strawberries, with a yuzu-mango sauce, & the same konjac shrimp. In both instances the konjac shrimp was chewy & flavourless, but it did not detract from the food.
Oyster Mushroom, Caviar, & Truffle was a mass of rich creamy mushrooms with a seaweed caviar on top of a thick piece of fried rice.
The dessert was also presented well, a fudgy brownie with strawberries, & a raspberry & mango emulsion, but I wasn't a big fan.View more

Really the best vegan restaurant in Montreal. You can really taste the care put into each flavour. From the maki selection to the depth of flavour in the Miso soup. The
