Guests frequently praise the high quality of the ingredients, particularly the sashimi, nigiri, and unique maki combinations, noting that the fish to rice ratio and depth of flavor provide an authentic and memorable meal. The atmosphere is consistently described as cozy, elegant, and intimate, making it a popular choice for celebrations and date nights. While opinions on pricing vary, many visitors feel the craftsmanship and attentive service justify the cost, and the team is often commended for being knowledgeable, welcoming, and helpful in guiding guests through the menu.
Nigiri: Our server Mathieu recommends three kinds of nigiri for us. All of them are excellent. We will come back because of Nigiri.
Maki:
1. Hidden fish maki is excellent for my husband, but I feel a bit greasy because of the foie gra. If you like foie gra, this is the best for you.
2. End with Maki Oishii is fresh. It comes with vege, salmon & wrapped with rice paper. Its seasoning is delicious.
Gathered for a birthday sushi dinner for my friend, & we had a wonderful time. Matthew was our co-host & provided excellent service.
Cocktails were beautiful & exotic - full of flavor (but maybe a bit challenged to taste the dose of alcohol?). Sushi & Sashimi was fresh & beautifully presented. Matthew provided excellent guidance for selections & dessert.
My partner & I had an amazing dinner last night . The quality of the sushi is outstanding & it shines through with every dish. Our top bite was the scallop topped with foie gras a must but leave for your last bite. Other musts are the Ora salmon sashimi & for sure the o-toro sashimi topped with caviar. Outstanding. The restaurant had a cool vibe but what pulled the whole night together was our server Ray he was very knowledgeable & passionate . Thank you for a great evening we will definitely be back next time in Montreal.
Hidden Fish was honestly unreal. I brought a date there & it ended up being one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. The place has a really nice atmosphere, dim lighting, good music, relaxed vibe. Feels upscale without trying too hard or being snobby.
The sushi was next level. Everything tasted insanely fresh & you can tell there's a lot of care put into the food. The fish quality was ridiculous, the rice was perfect, & even the presentation was clean without being over the top. We tried a bunch of different rolls, sashimi, & appetizers & there genuinely wasn't a single thing that disappointed.
In my honest opinion, it's probably the closest thing to eating sushi in Japan without sitting through a 12-hour flight. That's how good it was.
Service was amazing too. Staff were super friendly, knew the menu well, gave solid recommendations, & never made us feel rushed. The timing between dishes was perfect & the whole night just flowed naturally.
Me & my date both left saying we'd definitely come back. If you want a place that actually feels special for a date night while still being comfortable & relaxed, Hidden Fish absolutely delivers.
Subarashine! Service impeccable, traitement quasi royal. Sublimes sashimi & nigiri, tant au goût qu'en présentation. Explication precise & concise lorsque les plats sont présentés. Excellente sélection de sake, cocktails à jour & excellents tout autant. Un grand merci à toute l'équipe!
The sushi here is fantastic! Amazing presentation, amazing flavor, & you can get aged kanpachi which is one of my faves. Even though I typically just get nigiri & sashimi, we did try one of their rolls & it was also of amazing quality.
However the atmosphere is not at all what we're used to in Japan & California--it's a weird mashup of European formal & Japanese. The lighting is dark & the atmosphere quiet.
Sitting at the sushi bar is NOT like what sitting at the sushi bar is supposed to be. There is no interaction with the sushi chefs, even though they are right there. & we had to order from a waiter by the nature of sitting at the sushi bar, stood behind us--which makes for an odd, detached experience.
All that said, it is the best nigiri & sashimi I've been able to find in Montreal so far.
Amazing experience, the service was amazing. Our server & bartender were knowledgeable & attentive & great to chat with. I had the aged premium chefs choice sashimi & the chefs choice nigiri; along with a few of the premium nigiri options. Well worth the price tag, an overall exceptional experience all around. I'm a huge cocktail & sushi enthusiast; The bartender explained some of his signature cocktails & i was very pleased by the drinks provided, they were creative & delicious. Our server was helpful giving us ideas of places to explore in the city & was very friendly. The fish quality & freshness, presentation, timing of plates & courses, & atmosphere left nothing to be desired!
