Sushi Hidden Fish is dedicated to the creation of authentic Japanese cuisine here in Montreal. As the one and only Kaiseki Omakase, we are committed to offering you the best experience in our restaurant.
Kaiseki Omakase is an art form that we here at Sushi Hidden Fish are excited to bring to this corner of the world. We currently offer take out options catered to your needs, and they’re sure to exceed your expectations! We can’t wait to greet you in person when it’s safe to do so.
Sushi Hidden Fish earns widespread praise for exceptionally fresh fish, precise knife work, and beautifully presented dishes that showcase real craftsmanship. The dining room is described as elegant and intimate, with a calm atmosphere that enhances the tasting experience. Service is repeatedly highlighted as knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly, guiding guests through a thoughtful menu. Standout dishes across reviews include refined nigiri and maki, wagyu and aged fish options, and inventive rolls that balance flavors with skill. While premium pricing is noted, the overall consensus is that the combination of quality, technique, and hospitality makes the visit memorable and worth the splurge.
I came here twice. Amazing sushi & beautifully presented dishes. The pieces are slightly on the smaller side, but the flavor is absolutely perfect. The nigiri was definitely the highlight for me, a must-have if you're visiting! The ambience & decor are beautiful as well.
You can really see the care & precision in the cuts & the details of each piece. It is on the higher end price-wise, but worth it for the quality. I would personally skip the crab appetizer next time simply because it didn't wow me like the sushi did.
Overall, such a great experience & I'll definitely keep coming back!
It's been almost three years since this place has been on my list, & I'm so happy I finally discovered it. I absolutely loved the experience from start to finish.
The sushi is truly high quality. Everything was incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, & full of flavor. You can really feel the care & precision behind every dish.
What genuinely surprised me was the price. For this level of quality & experience, it was lower than I expected, which made the evening even better.
Our waiter, Rey, was excellent & made the experience even more enjoyable. Attentive, knowledgeable, & genuinely kind, he added a personal touch that made us feel very well taken care of.
An amazing experience overall & definitely a place I'll be coming back to. 🍣✨

An absolutely beautiful sushi spot with an elegant atmosphere. The chefs are Japanese, & you can truly taste the authenticity & craftsmanship in every dish. The menu offers a great selection of different dishes. We had sashimi & maki rolls. Everything was fantastic. Maki had unique combinations & were perfectly balanced & delicious. Plating was beautiful. A wonderful place for a special evening or simply to enjoy high-quality, beautifully prepared sushi.
Beautiful & intimate ambiance. Food was excellent. The Wagyu sushi roll is a must try, it was more than I would spend on sushi but every single bite was worth it!
I've been to many restaurants over the years, but my evening at Hidden Fish was truly something special. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was calm, elegant, & welcoming. For a Sunday night, we were actually surprised to see how busy it was & now we understand why! The food was exceptional, everything was fresh, beautifully presented, & bursting with flavor. You could tell real care & passion went into every dish.
But what made the night unforgettable was Rudy, our waiter. He was, without a doubt, the best server I've had in years. He had the perfect balance of professionalism & humor, attentive without hovering, friendly without being over the top. His personality truly made our dinner memorable; we laughed, we relaxed, & we felt genuinely taken care of.
It's rare these days to find service that feels so personal & genuine. The rest of the staff was also wonderful, polite, efficient, & clearly proud to work in such a great place.
Hidden Fish has become one of my new favorite spots. The food, the atmosphere, & Rudy's incredible service made for a night I'll be talking about for a long time. My husband & I can't wait to go back!

I recently visited this sushi restaurant & had a mixed experience overall. The ambiance was a definite highlight-stylish, relaxing, & perfect for a date night.
In terms of food, it was a bit hit-or-miss. The otoro nigiri stood out as exceptional-buttery, fresh, & beautifully presented. Comparable to ones I've had in Japan. Unfortunately, the sashimi was underwhelming, lacking the flavor & texture you'd expect at this price point. The maki rolls were decent but enjoyable enough.
The main drawback was the slow service. While the staff was polite, the wait times between courses felt too long, especially for a Monday night. The server also didn't bring soy sauce or wasabi/ginger the entire night.
Final verdict: Come for the ambiance & the otoro, but manage your expectations on the rest of the menu & service speed.
Amazing sushi & service in a cosy beautiful setting. Our server (Eric) was knowledgeable & provided some excellent recommendations. The fish is top notch. Definitely, one of my favorite sushi spots anywhere.

This is definitely the best place I've visited for sushi. Nigiri are their specialty. Their menu is expensive, but it is justified by the top-notch quality of all the ingredients. Everything I tried was simply delightful. All the plates were incredible. These were the best nigiri I ever tried. Everything was memorable. But the O-Toro nigiri was the highlight. It stood out from all the others. I will never forget the taste... Simply outstanding! The Tuna tataki was insanely good. The maki were also very good. The waiter's knowledge of all the plates & drinks was very impressive. It is obvious that the whole team is professional & offers an incredible service. The inside was beautiful & the atmosphere was very cozy. Desserts were also good. I will certainly come back to try out their other nigiri! I don't know if I will ever enjoy sushi from other restaurants, now that I tasted this quality!!
Sushi Hidden Fish Beautiful, Elegant, Elevated. A Truly impressive sushi experience, I heard great things but was not prepared for the level of skill, incredible taste & freshness. The decor is a notable highlight, large selection of imported Saki, they have a private room upstairs for larger groups as well, equally beautiful as the rest of the spaces. The Nigiri was my favorite, 6 assorted pieces.. spoke to the waiter & asked for another round & it came out completely different the second time, which was an amazing surprise! the Blue-fin tuna was my favorite. I tried the Uni, the Waygu Beef & a couple other unique rolls, All perfect. Overall the experience was one for the books, I will surely be back & with more colleagues. Thanks for having me. Cheers!
I recently discovered an amazing place - Sushi Hidden Fish! To be honest, I've been looking for a restaurant with authentic Japanese cuisine in Montreal for a long time, & here it is! The atmosphere there is simply incredible - calm & cozy, with a modern interior, but at the same time you can feel the spirit of Japan. The sushi & sashimi are to die for! Everything is very fresh & beautifully presented. It is clear that the products are of the highest quality, & the chefs know their stuff. The prices, of course, are not the lowest, but believe me, it's worth it! The service is also top notch - the waiters are very attentive & friendly. In general, if you want to try real Japanese cuisine in Montreal, I highly recommend Sushi Hidden Fish. Just book a table in advance, otherwise there may not be any seats. #SushiHiddenFish #Montreal #JapaneseFood #AuthenticCuisine #Sushi #Sashimi #FreshIngredients #GreatService #CozyAtmosphere #ModernInterior #MustTry #Foodie #MontrealRestaurants

It was definitly a unique pricey experience. The food was immaculate & the service was impeccable ! & the place look beautiful, clean & cozy Definitly recommend.
We had a semi-private room upstairs. It was beautifully designed, but also very cramped, & some of the fussy details didn't make sense: • There were decorative seashells hanging from the ceiling, but they hung so low that my male guests & I kept hitting them when we stood up or gestured; • The chairs were very wide with curved backs, forcing you to slouch forward since you couldn't lean back. They were also so wide that the sides touched the chairs next to you, making you feel trapped; • I ordered an Old Fashioned, but the glass had a decorative streak of spices running down the side that was hard to see in the dim lighting & kept rubbing off on my hand; • One wall had a tacky painting of a Geisha that looked like it was done by an inexperienced art student. The room was also hot-my nieces complained, & I was almost sweating. The kind & attentive waiter, who had way too many tattoos & seemed a bit too prideful, said they didn't have climate control, so nothing could be done. We did omakase. The fish was high quality, & the presentation was good, but the sushi rice was a bit off-slightly undercooked. The staff seemed stiff & inexperienced, & there were beams of douchebag energy coming of some patrons, many of whom seemed like tourists. One table had a group of women who looked like prostitutes-& not in a good way. Worst of all, it took more than an hour to receive our first dish, & another 30-40 minutes for the second. Frustrated, we eventually left. EDIT (in response to owner's reply): I appreciate your explanations regarding the food delays. You're correct that we joined tables, affecting egress, but that doesn't change the issue with the seat width & design. I would also argue that for a party of eight, it's reasonable to expect to be seated together, not at two separate tables. As for my comment about your patrons, I certainly wasn't referring to "other families." Your waiter was, in fact, a gentleman. I described him as "kind & attentive" in my review. My remark about his tattoos wasn't mocking his appearance-he was quite handsome & well-dressed. I simply noted that he had too many tattoos. Tattoos are a personal style choice, not an immutable trait or a religious symbol. To analogize: if you had a disheveled waiter or one with a spiked orange mohawk, common sense suggests it would be reasonable to mention that in a review.
An intimate, comfortable setting perfect for date night or a small group of friends to enjoy exceptional Japanese cuisine awaits you here. You can taste the quality in every bite of creative, expertly prepared sushi. Packed with incredible flavors, we wish we could have had more, but the generous portions are very satisfying. The cocktail menu is equally impressive, & we thoroughly enjoyed our order of Yuzu 75 & an Old Fashioned with Japanese whisky. The beautiful, serene décor adds to the already relaxed atmosphere, enhancing the dining experience, as does the wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable, & very helpful service. We highly suggest this elevated establishment for any occasion. You won't regret it!
We were visiting Mtl with our 16 y/o, who loves sushi. A friend recommended Hidden Fish to us & we were very glad that we took his advice. The service was on point & the servers themselves were very friendly. We were there for the Sashimi & it did not disappoint. It was very fresh & flavourful, with a beautiful presentation. I highly recommend!
What a special night this was! The room is beautiful. The food, ohmygod, the best sushi ever! Sometimes the explanations of the food & drinks was a little too much detail, but their heart was in the right place. I would come back here again, & again, & again...
