I thought that St-Viateur would be a lot better given all the reviews & videos I had seen prior to my trip to Montréal. The bagel was okay, but nothing special, especially for how expensive it was. I wouldn't return the next time I'm in Montréal. There is much better food to try around the city. I do like that they have an efficient system for getting people in & out of the restaurant comfortably & quickly. That was the highlight of the visit.
Excellent bagels. Line out the door was too long so I just got bagels takeaway. Maple apple was not too sweet & sesame was delicious! The bagels have a slightly chewy texture & are not dry at all. Wish all bagels were like this.
Overrated. Merely a local icon. Don't hold high expectations for the food itself.
I always come back here for some OG Montréal bagels. It gets busy during the afternoon, so I would recommend going there earlie
I was just so shocked when I looked at the line in front of the restaurant. I waited nearly an hour to get the bagel but when I had the first bite, I knew exactly why it is so famous. I got the all dressed bagel but sesame bagel is one of the most popular bagels. From what I know, this bagel place is one of the oldest in town & serves fresh bagels. This place is worth the hype. Must visit when you go to Montreal.
An institution in Montreal & a spot I have to visit each time or I will tweak. Great value for good quality bagels. Lines can get quite long so do your best to get there before the morning rush. Overall, a must visit. Take a dozen or two home with you. Freeze them for longevity or to use them as a flail, your call. Regardless, these are my go-to bagels. & their bagel sandwiches? Respect that schmear, they pile on that cream cheese, sensational.
The bagels are not that good & it's mainly a tourist trap, I don't understand why so many people were lining up!
St-Viateur Bagel is the hot Montreal bagel destination. Really good, multiple locations, just be prepared to wait in line to get in, line moves decently quick though. I got the ricotta fig jam sandwich & I personally thought it was lacking a key flavor element. The fig jam overpowered the ricotta. It was still good, but the bagel was the highlight & not so much the sandwich ingredients. The St-Viateur Bagel locations only take cash but they accept USD or Canadian cash or Canadian debit. You can skip the wait line if you're just going to pick up a bag of bagels vs eating there. I brought home myself 6 bagels in my new St Viateur Bagel tote ✨
Expensive & long wait even for take out... & the cashier made me break another paper bill because I was .1 cent short I had .50¢ & it was .53¢ I'm sorry but as a business owner myself in this economy you take cash & you don't treat clients like this... I know your spot is very hyped by tourists so you have a lot of movement but I'm a local client that comes often & this situation kinda sucks.
