Review Summary

Overall, reviews describe Sotto by Soubois as delivering top notch food and a warm, attentive atmosphere when service runs smoothly. The menu earns high marks for seafood such as octopus and oysters Rockefeller, Cajun oysters with heat, and other dishes that are fresh, flavorful and well presented. Drinks and cocktails are often highlighted, with the dirty gin martini receiving particular praise, and portions described as satisfying and balanced. The vibe is repeatedly noted as lively and welcoming, whether during a party, a birthday, or a casual dinner, and the central downtown location is a plus. Several visits recount service missteps and timing issues, including a Valentine dinner with long waits, bread substitutions, a rude exchange with staff, a mistaken bill item, and at least one overcooked fish and undercooked pasta. Even with occasional flaws, the kitchen's passion and the balance of tradition and creativity come through, leading many to say Sotto by Soubois is worth returning to.

We went for Valentine's Day to Sotto for the first time & our experience was not good unfortunately. First of all, took 1:30hrs to receive our food, then the waitress come to me & tell me we don't have focaccia anymore so we will offer you garlic bread I said no problem. Then she came back & gave us the foccacia finally. Focaccia was good honestly I don't have anything bad to say about it. We ordered branzino with the risotto. It was good but the branzino was overcooked, practically all burned :/ but we still managed to eat some of it. My partner ordered pasta, pasta was hard not cooked at all. Then the waitress forgot our octopus & when I told her about it she gave my a dirty look & was super rude.. we finally had our octopus & it was good ( thank god). Then at the end we look at the bill & she charged us 4 rockerfeller & we never ordered any rockerfeller so we were upset to pay extra 40$ for nothing. Honestly the restaurant is not that bad it's just the service that sucks & the waitress all have attitude for nothing & needs more professionalism. The owner was screaming at some busboy but he should focus more on the kitchen side since our food & service was bad.

Sotto is the perfect balance between tradition & creativity. Every dish is fresh, colourful & full of flavor. Warm service, cozy atmosphere, & pasta that dreams are made of. 🍝✨
