Reviews of Sir Winston Churchill Pub describe a timeless Montreal pub with warm dark wood, classic decor, and a welcoming, unpretentious vibe that stays charming rather than trendy. The atmosphere draws a mixed crowd of locals and visitors, making it easy to relax, chat, or watch a game while enjoying a well curated beer list that pours reliably, with options ranging from local to traditional favorites. Food is pub fare that is generally decent and tasty, though some feel it does not always match the price, while others praise solid snacks and standout dishes, suggesting variable value. Service is frequently praised for friendliness and attentiveness, though a few reviews note slower or uneven service during peak times. Live music, a terrace with street views, and a strong happy hour contribute to a vibe suitable for both socializing and quiet evenings, though some nights can be darker inside or more crowded; overall, it is viewed as a reliable spot for drinks and casual bites in a genuine pub atmosphere, with drinks and ambience receiving the most consistent praise despite mixed opinions on price and menu quality.
Good is okay, it's what you'd expect at a pub. They won't be using fresh food, mostly frozen, but then again, most people go there for the drinks & good memories. The service is good BUT they are heavily understaffed at the bars on busy nights. More security standing at the front of the place than bar tenders at the pub itself. Atmosphere is great though, can be loud so be prepared

One of the best bar/pubs in downtown Montreal to enjoy a pint or two on the patio or a great bite to eat with wonderful entertainment. This pub is a downtown icon with friendly service & a always vibrant crowd!
Sir Winston Churchill Pub is one of those rare places that genuinely feels timeless. From the moment you walk in, you're met with a warm, classic British pub atmosphere-dark wood, historic décor, & a cozy layout that immediately makes you feel comfortable & welcome. It's not trying to be trendy, & that's exactly why it works so well.
The drink selection is strong & dependable, especially if you appreciate a proper pint. The beer list is well curated, with a good balance of local options & traditional favorites, & everything is consistently well poured. It's the kind of place where you can sit back, take your time, & actually enjoy your drink without feeling rushed or crowded.
What really sets this pub apart is the vibe. It attracts a relaxed, mixed crowd-locals, regulars, & visitors alike-which gives it a genuine neighborhood feel rather than a touristy one. Conversations flow easily here, whether you're meeting friends, unwinding after work, or just stopping in solo. The background music & overall noise level strike a perfect balance, making it ideal for both socializing & quiet enjoyment.
The staff deserve special mention. Service is friendly, professional, & unpretentious. You're treated with respect, not as just another customer passing through. That consistency & care go a long way & are a big reason people keep coming back.
If you're looking for a true pub experience in Montreal-comfortable, authentic, & reliably enjoyable-Sir Winston Churchill Pub delivers every time. It's a place with character, history, & heart, & it remains a solid favorite for good reason. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I visited this pub hoping to catch a Premier League game, but that wasn't an option. The venue was nearly empty, resulting in a noticeably subdued atmosphere-even though the service was quite good. If you're seeking a lively game-watching experience, you might want to try somewhere else.

This pub is located in one of the best neighborhoods in Montreal's downtown, offering a warm ambiance in both its indoor & balcony areas. The staff were friendly, which was a plus. However, the menu & drinks list had limited choices, & neither my wife nor I enjoyed our food in terms of both quality & taste. Additionally, the prices were quite high for the level of food offered. I'm unsure if I will return.
It's a very old & large pub. There are two bars & a balcony. Nice service & classic drinks . I don't remember the food they have, cause we go there for the drinks. Good atmosphere.
Nice place, just one comment. The minimum tip in the card machine should be 15 & not 18 %. Tips in Montreal are crazy compared to Europe or other places. Winston Churchill's soul will be upset with the 18%. I'm sure he doesn't love the Montreal tip philosophy. In London I asked to add a tip in a pub, & the waitress said "is not necessary, is noon my friend". Anyway, I liked the pub, great music too! :)
Big pub, & a nice round-the table bar, suitable for going solo or in groups. The down part was that the two (not-busy) barmaids completely ignored me for a good 10-15 minutes, until after 7:05 when the happy hour finished. Apparently happy hour (5-7pm) is when you get two drinks for one! & I didn't even know that. I wanted to take only one drink & leave! Cause I was meeting friends afterwards for dinner, & I had half an hour to kill, so decided to have a quick drink & discover the place at the same time. The ignorance was discouraging! Even if somebody was there to use the opportunity of the happy hour offer, that was very disrespectful!
