I was suprised to see that owner sat on the table while customer was eating.
It's NEVER happen if this japanese shabushabu restaurant was managed by a japanese owner.
We are wondering why tha google review is this much high...
Beef was delicious but I don't think quantity is enough, As I am a japanese , of course I know shabu shabu is a kind of luxuary food but for the price, there are tons of restaurants that give more value.
A japanese waitress treated us very well ,I am happy that she shows japanese traditional behavior.
The food was fresh. The sets are very filling because of the noodles & rice you get.
However I thought the price was a lot for what you get. The sets could probably come with more meat.
Used to love that place but as with many restaurants, since covid quality went down a bit & prices exploded & its just not worth it anymore. It is still ok if you don't look at the price, but at 40$ before tax for a tiny beef portion that isn't even marbled its really not worth it to me. If at least the beef was still nicely marbled like it used to be I might give it a pass, but not like that. Might not even be their fault, maybe beef inflation really is that bad idk, I just know I won't be back.
My favorite place for hot pot in down town Montreal. The broth is so tasty to the point where everything else ( vegetables, the lamb, etc ) goes perfectly well alongside it. It's a bit pricey now since the prices have increased. Fortunately, the ice cream dessert is already included in the whole meal & it's a good ending to the wonderful meal. You're better off calling to reserve because it can get crowded on busy evenings. They even take amex !
The food was good & the service was really great. It's a cool & well decorated restaurant. I shared the Futari set. It was the perfect amount of food. The meat was really fresh & good. Overall though I think that the food was not that good compared to the price.
Service is good food is good but the portion could be more but it's filling for the price & the atmosphere is good
I used to go to Kagayaki 10 or so years ago & it was great, especially for the price back then. I went back last night & the price have literally doubled (the nagano pork used to be 15$ & now it's 33$), but it's the same food... I know inflation is crazy but it was not worth a 50$ bill (including taxes & tip). The service was very good! Jusy not worth the price 😅
They offer gluten free options. Best hot pot I tried so far, it can be pricey but the portions are big so you can share it & still be full, or take away the remaining.
Prices are rising & everything is super expensive. If you eat a self-service hot pot, you have to cook it by yourself. It's better to go to an all-you-can-eat restaurant with service.
The place is ok, staff is friendly, place is very clean ! Service was fast ! The food was ok, the only thing is the price ! Very expensive for not so much meat .
Very friendly & attentive staff! Food was great & the ambience was nice. Took off one star because the food was a bit pricey for what you get. $80 gets you a set of food. It looks like a lot but isnt that much when you consider they give you half a cabbage that takes a lot of space.
My boyfriend & I's go-to place for Japanese hot pot ! The portions are good despite the recent price increase. The dessert is included with your meal combo, which is a plus. They usually offer ice cream, mochi ice cream or affogato as dessert options, which vary day to day. The only negative point is the saltiness of the broth; it makes us super thirsty after our meal every time. Nonetheless, I recommend this place for a cozy meal during the colder months of the year !
The atmosphere is super enjoyable & the experience is definitely nice. The service was really good & their staff is friendly. This place is definitely great for healthier food options, but it's nothing extraordinary. Although, I really liked the goma sauce & the spicy broth. I took the chicken breast combo but I think there were better options. It was also pretty pricey, but I think it was worth it, especially if you're going with friends, it's a super fun experience.
Overall, quite pricey for the quality of food & service. Every plate of vegetable & rice is clearly prepared well in advance (the rice was quite dry, obviously not fresh, by the time we received it for example). It took well over 30 minutes for our order to be taken, & another 40 for food plates to arrive. Entrees & drinks were served last. My disappointment over the experience stems from their inability to cater to dietary requirements. I do not have particularly difficult ones to accommodate - I am lactose intolerant & have to avoid tofu for health concerns. Each meal comes with a plate of rice cakes & tofu. I asked to please not waste food & not to bring me the tofu since I won't be able to eat it, but if at all possible would like more rice cake to compensate. I was brought the tofu plate, being told substitutions were not possible (which is fair... but I still can't safely have tofu, & no other solution was offered). Then came dessert which was included. My options were a scoop of Oreo ice cream, or espresso with vanilla ice cream. Other menus had melon for dessert so I asked if I could possibly have that instead seeing as I am lactose intolerant, as they were told... I was replied "no". For a restaurant which has, on its menu, "please inform us of any food allergies or dietary requirements & we will be happy to accommodate you", it fell quite short of the mark.
This place is my favorite of all the hotpot spots in Montreal! I never leave there unsatisfied. The menu changed over time but the food is always delicious. You have your own pot & you choose your broth & the meat you want. It's a shame I didn't take a picture. price is a bit high but the experience is worth it! :) I chose the meat lover combo with the spicy broth & I wasn't disappointed! The waitresses were polite & available. Definitely will come back & recommend!
The food is amazing. It's been my husband & I's favorite restaurant for 2 years now. The prices are good too. If you've never tried asian fondue...you're missing out.
A different dining experience. My bf & i went here
for our 6th monthsary celebration. Although there's
heavy rain pouring outside, it even made our dining experience
here a really memorable one. Here, you cook your
own food. Your choice of dish are all raw & served in
a plate, a hot boiling pot in front of you, it's
up to you how you want them to be cooked. We had fun!
Reasonable price but food quantity & quality?
It is definitely worth every penny! We loved it! :)
