About

Sansotei Ramen specializes in authentic Tonkotsu ramen crafted with a thick, creamy pork bone broth boiled for many hours to extract maximum flavor. The menu focuses on traditional Japanese techniques, featuring thin, straight noodles served with perfectly marinated soft-boiled eggs and tender slices of chashu pork. Patrons can customize their bowls with varying levels of spice or additional toppings like fresh wood ear mushrooms and scallions. The preparation emphasizes depth and consistency, ensuring each bowl maintains the signature profile expected of high-quality Japanese noodle shops. Efficient service and a minimalist interior design define the environment, allowing the intricate flavors of the broth to remain the central focus. This establishment prioritizes culinary precision by sourcing premium ingredients to maintain the integrity of its traditional ramen recipes throughout its various locations.

Review Summary

Sansotei Ramen is widely regarded as a standout destination for authentic Japanese ramen in Montreal, frequently praised for its rich, flavorful broths and perfectly cooked noodles. Many patrons highlight the consistent quality of the food, noting that both traditional options and unique varieties like the Tonkotsu Black or Miso Black are exceptionally satisfying. The atmosphere is generally described as cozy, modern, and welcoming, making it a popular choice for both quick lunches and relaxed dinners. While service is often celebrated as fast, friendly, and accommodating, some visitors have noted occasional inconsistencies regarding language accessibility and overall staff interaction. Despite minor critiques concerning portion sizes or specific menu preferences, the majority of guests consider this restaurant a go-to spot for a high-quality, affordable, and comforting meal in the downtown area.

Pretty good service food is just really really bad especially for the price. Broth taste like water the food overall is just bland & flavourless. Didn't eat it, ended taking it to go to give to the homeless.

If you want some delicious garlic oil ramen the one from Marusan in the Time Out Market is simply addictive. For the same price, please save your tongue & cross the street to there.

Good portions, my go to when I'm downtown in winter. Soul soothing broth, highly recommended!
Don't miss out on their fried chicken!

Ordered tomato ramen here, clearly not freshly made, tasted bad & the whole broth was cold including everything but the noodles. Complete nonsense.

By far my favorite ramen restaurant in Montreal! Each bowl comes with a full egg, unlike most restaurants that only give a half. The broth is perfectly rich & flavorful.

I've been going here since it opened, & it has consistently been excellent experiences every time. You're always served kindly & quickly.

The broth & all the ingredients are perfect. Good noodles, the chasu is meaty & the eggs are nice & jammy

Clean affordable ramen shop. Noodles are not handmade & the tonkatsu broth today was a little thin , lacked fat & depth & needed tare. I'd be willing to bet the milky color came from milk & not pork bones that had been boiled for hours. But it was good. The egg was cold , like fridge cold & the chashu was very thin. The gyoza was devine.
They're tonkatsu is probably as good as it's going to get with dry noodles & the broth. & if your OK with that it's just fine . Service was excellent & the place is modern & clean.

Superb! Can you imagine flavorful broth without being salty? I recommend the thick noodle. Pork had good grill flavor & was lean. I would come back for the ramen but probably pass on the fried chicken & gyoza next time.
