Restaurant Rumi offers you a culinary experience of the Silk Road that once crossed Central Asia and the Middle East. A route that linked cities, oases and markets... great traditions, formidable kingdoms.
The Silk Road was also the route of spices, generous in fragrance and flavor. We invite you to be inspired by the spirit of the travelers, merchants and pilgrims who, for centuries, exchanged goods, riches and important cultural elements. A spirit of discovery and openness. We aim to create a hospitable atmosphere conducive to meaningful encounters. A setting in which to take the time to restore oneself in the sense of regaining strength and meaning.
As far as possible, our cuisine favors local, organic and sustainable agriculture. All the meat we serve is halal.
Rumi is described as a warm, inviting spot with beautiful décor and a Middle Eastern vibe, where generous portions, flavorful mezze and main courses, and fresh ingredients meet attentive, friendly service. The atmosphere is cozy and often lively, sometimes enhanced by live music and a charming terrace garden, making it suitable for intimate dinners as well as groups and celebrations. Guests repeatedly note excellent service, accommodating staff, and good value for the quality, with dishes ranging from hummus and halloumi to lamb shank and merguez highlighted as standouts. The tea service, desserts, and overall balance of sweetness and spice add distinctive touches, and the space feels welcoming to families and friends alike. Overall, Rumi emerges as a reliable go-to for diverse flavors, a festive yet comfortable ambience, and a dining experience that invites return visits.
Always a pleasure to dine at Rumi's. Fairly priced, the food was delicious with fresh ingredients & portions a good size, we love the eastern atmosphere & the service was friendly & efficient. The Moroccan tea to finish is a must! All in all Rumi's is a perennial favourite. We will of course be back.
Wonderful place to have lunch or dinner with a great chef who cooks food that you will remember !!
This place is great!! One little hidden gem in Montreal, it deserves way more attention than it gets. It's affordable for the portions, the food is amazing & the ambiance is top notch. Very underrated!!
The wonderful service by Maya & the great food as always was the perfect recipe for a wonderful evening on the enchanted terasse of Rumi . We will definitely be back !!
When I first entered the restaurant, I felt myself in a magical atmosphere. The decoration, the friendly service staff & the food were great. When I first looked at the menu, I had no idea what the food looked like, so I wasn't sure what I should eat.I think the picture of the dishes should appear on the menu, that was the only thing missing, this detail may have missed the attention of the restaurant operator. Still, I guve 5 🌟

We absolutely loveee & adore Rumi! It's been 14 years we've been going there & we made alot of good memories there. Just happy they brought back the old menu & hope they keep & add to it too. We'll be back soon :)

After a disastrous experience at the Croissanterie across the street we went to Rumi which has been on my radar for some time. It was excellent. The menu is interesting & broad. There was a shakshuka on the menu with beef & lamb which really hit all the buttons. I ate it slowly just to savour it. My wife had a semolina dish - kouinaffeh - which she adored. Add to it a delicious mint tea & it was a great meal. Service was excellent, atmosphere warm & lovely. The server mentioned pastia for the next time. & we'd be down for a next time for sure.
After many back & forth about how many we were going to be, with kind help from young lady we finally settled in. We ordered 9 different starters , 7 were excellent & 2 forgettable ( fatoush salad bland & mushrooms boring ) another complaint was you have to order pita-naan bread because it's not included with the entrees. Very petty & annoying. Main courses were abundant & excellent. Service through out was outstanding & friendly. We will go back & try other dishes. We all loved the sauces & exotic spices.
