Restaurant Rumi offers you a culinary experience of the Silk Road that once crossed Central Asia and the Middle East. A route that linked cities, oases and markets... great traditions, formidable kingdoms.
The Silk Road was also the route of spices, generous in fragrance and flavor. We invite you to be inspired by the spirit of the travelers, merchants and pilgrims who, for centuries, exchanged goods, riches and important cultural elements. A spirit of discovery and openness. We aim to create a hospitable atmosphere conducive to meaningful encounters. A setting in which to take the time to restore oneself in the sense of regaining strength and meaning.
As far as possible, our cuisine favors local, organic and sustainable agriculture. All the meat we serve is halal.
The dining experience at Rumi blends warm ambiance, generous portions, and a rich mosaic of Middle Eastern flavors that many reviewers describe as authentic and inviting. Dishes like mezze and mains are praised for their depth, with several notes on fresh ingredients, thoughtful seasoning, and creative twists that still honor tradition. Service is repeatedly described as attentive and friendly, with a welcoming atmosphere and occasional live music that enhances the mood. The terrace, decor, and overall value receive frequent compliments, making it a favorite for family gatherings, celebrations, and casual dinners alike.
Went here for brunch with family & friends & everything was incredible. Very friendly & prompt service even though we were a large group. We ordered a lot of plates to share & they were all delicious. Will be coming back soon.
We heard about this Mediterranean halal restaurant & my friends & I had to try it! We really enjoyed the food & the service by Mr. Shaker. He was very welcoming & took great care of us. Must try their octopus & fried haloumi. The ambiance was quite cozy with tribal decor. They have a beautiful terrace garden for summer brunch. We will be returning soon!

This restaurant is a real gem! A delicious fusion of north African & middle east cuisines. I have had both brunch & dinner there. It is really rare to find a good brunch restaurant that offers reservations & thus no lineups! The service is very friendly & the server helped us with some special dietary restrictions to make the meal excellent for everyone. A refreshing menu in a intimate setting in the middle of the plateau. Highly recommend. 2 or 3 stairs at the entrance for accessibility.
We used to visit Rumi every so often before Covid & loved their brunch. We came recently to see that their menu has changed. The food is not as tasty as before. Naan break is even worse than store bought. So sad.
I've been going to Rumi for over 15 years. I've celebrated birthday & other special occasions. It used to be my go to place for brunch, especially in the summer. However, since the pandemic the quality has gone down quite drastically. I went there last night & I am afraid to say it may be my last time. It is just not anywhere close to being on par with what it was. With the huge selection of excellent restaurants in the city, it doesn't make sense for me to keep going to a place hoping it'll be as good as it once was. It's very unfortunate as I know how hard it has been for restaurants to keep their staff but I just can't spend $120 & walk away so disappointed. Service was good, as usual.
Parfait
We love coming to Rumi for brunch in the summer. Such a wonderful change from most brunch menus & so fresh & delish. Service was (as usual) great with our waitress yesterday. The heat kept a lot of people away so we really appreciated the staff letting us stay as long as we wanted at our table under the shade of a tree on the terrace. Chill people are the BEST! One of Montreal's most charming neighbourhoods too. So grateful that Covid has not shut this resto down, like so many other eateries in the city.
I love this restaurant. The terrasse is beautiful, the food is fantastic & the service is on point. I have been for dinner & recently for brunch, I was pleasantly surprised & can't wait to go back!
J'ai essayé Rumi tant pour le brunch que pour le souper : tout est absolument excellent. Cuisine savoureuse, de haute qualité, qui fait voyager. Bonne sélection de vin (bio, nature, etc.). Service très courtois.
