The Silk Road was also the route of spices, generous in fragrance and flavor. We invite you to be inspired by the spirit of the travelers, merchants and pilgrims who, for centuries, exchanged goods, riches and important cultural elements. A spirit of discovery and openness. We aim to create a hospitable atmosphere conducive to meaningful encounters. A setting in which to take the time to restore oneself in the sense of regaining strength and meaning.
As far as possible, our cuisine favors local, organic and sustainable agriculture. All the meat we serve is halal.
Rumi is described as a warm, inviting spot with beautiful décor and a Middle Eastern vibe, where generous portions, flavorful mezze and main courses, and fresh ingredients meet attentive, friendly service. The atmosphere is cozy and often lively, sometimes enhanced by live music and a charming terrace garden, making it suitable for intimate dinners as well as groups and celebrations. Guests repeatedly note excellent service, accommodating staff, and good value for the quality, with dishes ranging from hummus and halloumi to lamb shank and merguez highlighted as standouts. The tea service, desserts, and overall balance of sweetness and spice add distinctive touches, and the space feels welcoming to families and friends alike. Good service & okay food . Have wanted to go for years. Some pleasantly good surprises: butternut squash dish; halloum. But some very big disappointments: grilled chicken on fat touch was tough & over cooked. Lamb main was very salty. Chicken in puff pastry: the pastry was tough. For the price I hope to find a better Iranian restaurant as it is a cuisine I love.

We had a very pleasant evening on the balcony, as requested. Our server was delightful & added to our enjoyment. The food was very good, including appetizers, mains & desserts. We shared an excellent & reasonably priced bottle of organic wine. Thank you, Rumi!

Une amie m'a fait découvrir ce restaurant. J'ai l'habitude d'une cuisine plus "traditionnelle" dois-je avouer (France, Italie, Thaïlande, Vietnam, Chinoise etc). J'ai été ENCHANTÉ de mes découvertes de cette cuisine très inspirée/inspirante. Notre serveur a été d'une aide précieuse dans ses descriptions & recommandations. Nous nous sommes régalés d'aliments extrêmement savoureux & joliment présentés sur l'assiette. Ce fut un "festival" de saveurs & de couleurs. En plus, j'ai la conscience tranquille d'avoir mangé des aliments frais & bons pour la santé. Tout le monde y trouve son compte (carnivores, végétariens, végétaliens). Ce fut donc une expérience mémorable & que je répéterai avec GRAND plaisir ! Merci à cette amie qui m'a fait découvrir ce restaurant Rumi ! Merci aussi au personnel du service & de la cuisine pour ce moment de purs plaisirs.
We love coming to Rumi for brunch in the summer. Such a wonderful change from most brunch menus & so fresh & delish. Service was (as usual) great with our waitress yesterday. The heat kept a lot of people away so we really appreciated the staff letting us stay as long as we wanted at our table under the shade of a tree on the terrace. Chill people are the BEST! One of Montreal's most charming neighbourhoods too. So grateful that Covid has not shut this resto down, like so many other eateries in the city.

RUMI est depuis longtemps, notre resto préféré pour un dépaysement & une expérience différente des autres restos. Nous célébrons l'été sur leur jolie terrasse depuis plus de 15 ans. C'est toujours le fête 🤗!
Unfortunately, the food & service weren't as great as used to be. The appetizers were as tasty as before but the main plates' quality & flavour were a bit disappointing. The service personnel wasn't attentive, not checking if we needed a second drink or not.
Overall, it was very different from the last experience I had back in the early 2020, but considering they survived during the pandemic, the new menu is adopted to the current condition. Will try again but not anytime soon.
