Restaurant Rumi offers you a culinary experience of the Silk Road that once crossed Central Asia and the Middle East. A route that linked cities, oases and markets... great traditions, formidable kingdoms.
The Silk Road was also the route of spices, generous in fragrance and flavor. We invite you to be inspired by the spirit of the travelers, merchants and pilgrims who, for centuries, exchanged goods, riches and important cultural elements. A spirit of discovery and openness. We aim to create a hospitable atmosphere conducive to meaningful encounters. A setting in which to take the time to restore oneself in the sense of regaining strength and meaning.
As far as possible, our cuisine favors local, organic and sustainable agriculture. All the meat we serve is halal.
The dining experience at Rumi blends warm ambiance, generous portions, and a rich mosaic of Middle Eastern flavors that many reviewers describe as authentic and inviting. Dishes like mezze and mains are praised for their depth, with several notes on fresh ingredients, thoughtful seasoning, and creative twists that still honor tradition. Service is repeatedly described as attentive and friendly, with a welcoming atmosphere and occasional live music that enhances the mood. The terrace, decor, and overall value receive frequent compliments, making it a favorite for family gatherings, celebrations, and casual dinners alike.
We love Rumi! We try to visit Rumi every time we come to Montreal almost since they opened. The food is always delicious. This time we had the Fez (lamb dish), the Sulayman (chicken dish), & Haloumi Rumi, the Dhal, & the Muhammara. Enjoyed outside seating & were delighted with our meal!

I've been enjoying Rumi Restaurant & its courteous personnel for about a decade. Each time, the special combination of food (tastes & fragrances) & ambience (lighting, music, & decorations) offers an exceptional & delightful treat of a sensory wonder. One is given a genuine taste of the Islamic world under the aegis of the restaurant's patron, the great sage Rumi, which in turn touches something truly universal in the human state. Never disappoints!
