The large cup of sauce is perfect & adds to their whole delicious ensemble. Awesome service, even if it was end of day, it was super friendly... you know when you want friendly service in a restaurant, treat them how you want to be treated & you get the respect right back. The waitress deserved her 20% tip! They are celebrating their 80th anniversary this year... found out yesterday evening that my friend Ken worked their as a teenager about 40 years ago... he was explaining to us how they used to make their coleslaw, BBQ Chicken & he still loves the place after all these years... After talking with our waitress everything is made just like back in the day! If you're looking for Montreal's best chicken, look no further... The decor inside is old school (1960's), but it has it's charm, reminded me of my childhood in the 80's. The lighting is a little dim, but it has its charm, it goes well with the design of the place. You feel like you walk in a Montreal 80 year old business... I'm not saying age is a bad, but in their case, it's what attests it's food quality... 80 years of perfecting the art of roasting chicken. I took a picture on their menu... nothing complicated, they KNOW their chicken! We are in 2024, not 1944, so it's normal that portions have changed, prices too... but how many places in 2024 in Montreal offer fresh delicious meals under 15$? I have no idea why I've waited so long to come taste this institution in Montreal? I will most definitely will be back & I hope they will still be around in 20 years to celebrate their 100th anniversary!
Came back to here after a couple of years & it's even better than I remember. The gravy has got this special something about it that compliments the chicken so well. The chicken breast is the juiciest I've ever had. Combined with the homestyle fries & slaw, this place is one of the few institutions of Montreal that need to be preserved. You walk into the restaurant & it's like a time machine to a different time in Montreal. A nostalgic dining experience with top notch rotisserie chicken.
It's just rostisery chicken, it's good but nothing special, it's a really local place with good enough service.

The best chicken place in Montreal & surrounding area. I have been going there for 70 years now. I live off island but well worth the trip. This restraunt is not a franchise. They have kept the original receipt since it first opened in the mid 40's.
Quaint location with no fuss, but the food was fantastic. Chicken & potatoes were fantastic. Highly recommend. Super affordable too.

After many years of eating here, I am seeing a decline & inconsistancy in the service & food quality.
Both meals we had were okay, somewhat the same when you prepare lunch sandwich you bring to work. The taste/flavour has nothing extraordinary in it. The meals were made in a very simple way which is kind of nice but missing some smoky flavour; The chicken slices on my sandwich were bland. Soup leaned towards the salty side. Fries were a little greasy. The serving portion is quite huge which is great for people with big appetite. The waiting staff is attentive & friendly. Parking space is a plus as customers have a designated free parking towards the back of the restaurant. The place is clean however the lighting is somewhat too dim for me.

I rarely travel across the Mercier bridge but when I do, I'm usually headed to Chalet BBQ for my fix. So delicious & reasonably priced! Service is top notch & friendly!
At the heart of NDG, by a beautiful park. My go-to for a classic chicken dinner since it's better than Saint-Hubert BBQ!
We really love oldschool places so the atmosphere were really good & unique. The service & people were also kind & smiley. For the food we didn't eat chicken. We have tried poutine, fries & a ceasar salad. Fries were not crispy at all & reminded of just old cooked potatoes & they were greasy. After our stomach felt not good beacuse of the grease. For vegetarian options is only a fries & a salad.
I wish I could give 10/10 to the service. Big WOW Jackie & Anthony were the example of what good, CARING, customer service workers should be. Les petits attentions that they paid to my table were so very much appreciated & thoughtful. As someone who has been going for years, I definitely recommend if you're in the area of looking for a good family friendly eatery 💯💯💯💯💯
