Since 1944 this place has been a staple of NDG. As the birthplace of Swiss Chalet this is what they are modelled over. Great food. Dipping sauce will cure what ails you! Friendly service & fast too. As great as I remember it as a kid with my family. Thank you for staying true to what makes you great!
Oh & atmosphere is straight from back in the day as well!
The chicken was very good. We took the family meal. Which came with a whole chicken, fries ,coleslaw & gravy. Excellent value for the price.
Still on of Montreal's landmark BBQ restaurants. Still one of my favorite BBQ Chicken restaurants on or off the islands of Montreal & Laval. Many waitresses & their family members have worked there for decades. All the staff & management, like Steven the lunchtime matradee are so pleasant. Even Stevens' children work there, & Steven is demanding for things to be done right. Lovely atmosphere. Expect to see holiday tidings on walls & ceilings. Plenty of crayons & cutouts to keep younger children busy so the parents can enjoy the atmosphere. What can I say...I love the place.
Chalet Bar-B-Q has been a family favorite for a generation. They are very friendly & helpful for our larger group of 20. The food was delicious & brought back memories of past visits.
We've come here for as long as I could remember, we did our family birthdays here when I was a kid! Although we moved away from NDG, coming back feels like home. My husband recently did a ventilation job here & even then, he was treated like family & fed very generously. This review is long due. The team & service has remained consistently amazing through the years & they still serve the best rotisserie chicken in town.
A classic'chalet' style restaurant. Been around for years & years. I only started going there when I met my boyfriend. It's his family's go-to spot.
Chicken is great. Sauce is great. Service is great. Not many options to choose from (which is great for me, too many options make it harder to choose).
Simply & straight to the point. If you live chicken, you'll love this place.
Just like walking into the past! A must go to restaurant with family or friends. The staff were friendly & took the time to chat with you & ask if everything was to our satisfaction. The food was cooked to perfection & the coleslaw to die for!
Recently took the extended family & friends for dinner at Chalet BBQ. My family has been going here since the 1960's & we still love it! Food is always great, plentiful & good tasting. Service hasn't changed over the years , it's always great. Just doesn't get any better than Chalet BBQ.
This is the place that time has not touched, it's absolutely a gem delivering quality food & service. The white chicken was moist & juicy, done right! This is the place to take the family. Has that homemade feeling to it, you can tell the staff have been there for years, unlike the franchises. It's a must stop location when in Montreal!
This is a Montreal institution. It is way more than the best chicken place in the country. It is a time capsule. The food is exactly the same as when they opened. Our family has held many events there. A must visit!
Hello world! Let's go eat chicken on a spit! IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GOLDEN, CRISPY SKIN! But Sir, I don't eat the skin of my chicken, like Johnny Utah! Alright, I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chalet BBQ, & may I say... it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, Steve & Catherine made us feel right at home with their warm hospitality. The atmosphere was cozy & the chalet of your grandparents, perfect for a relaxed meal. Now, let's talk about the food... absolutely incredible! The chicken was perfectly cooked, bursting with original, authentic flavor, & the poutine was equally delicious. I honestly, highly recommend you all go eat their signature, slow cooked chicken, you won't be disappointed! What really stood out was the attention to detail & the passion they put into their cooking. Steve & Catherine truly care about their patrons & it shows in every aspect of the dining experience. If you're looking for a fantastic meal & a friendly atmosphere, Chalet BBQ is the place to be! I can't wait to go back for another round of their amazing chicken & poutiiiiine! With a family of 6 including 4 small children its hard to find a place everyone agrees upon. At least twice a month the kids ask for chicken from Chalet BBQ. Their family pack option is a life saver. Its always nice to see a business offer options for families.

I wish I could give 10/10 to the service. Big WOW Jackie & Anthony were the example of what good, CARING, customer service workers should be. Les petits attentions that they paid to my table were so very much appreciated & thoughtful. As someone who has been going for years, I definitely recommend if you're in the area of looking for a good family friendly eatery 💯💯💯💯💯
Now you will notice I have it 5 stars for atmosphere even though it's all original & out dated. The reason why? Because it's out dated ! It's like going back into one's childhood & it's nostalgic. Food is yummy & predictably delicious. Portions are generous & the home made crisp fries & BBQ sauce are to die for. The chicken in any form is awesome because it a hot chicken sandwich or rotisserie style yummy. Pricing & value are totally there & a great place for a family meal. Not fancy but it gets the job done well. Dave the manager is always on top & making sure everything is done to his high standards. The customers are proof as most are patrons for generations. You have to go.
Chalet bar BQ this place is the best place for food you must come here & have a meal it is number for a reason the food is done right & the flavours are to die for I highly recommend this place so gather your family & friends & even people that let town tell them to drive back to get that amazing taste of chalet bar BQ they will be hooked a Montreal staple & did you know that the restaurant is 80 years old & still going strong you must ask yourself a question what is there secret to there success with this one restaurant magical place to come & experience real authentic food .Chalet bar BQ number in my books & can't be beat .
Simple warm basic food (based on chicken & potato). Good family atmosphere. Lager graft beer. Good place especially during cold winter weather.
I have been coming here for more than 40 years as it was a family favorite. The chicken is tender & tasty, the FRIES are the best in Montreal, in my humble opinion. & THE SAUCE. I used to drink what was left when i was young. Not much has changed over the years EXCEPT for the size of the chicken they serve. i felt as if I was eating a baby chicken, the drumstick was so small!! They must have changed supplier. Charge more, but give us a normal size chicken leg, please. I will still go back, but will have to order two legs instead of one...
Simply the best! Grew up in NDG, & this was always an affordable option for the family. I live in Ontario now & when I visit this is the first restaurant I to go to. Affordable, the staff are attentive & friendly. Everyone loves it just the way it is
