Best chicken on earth plain & simple! So juicy & tender. The skin is to die for, tastes like charcoal hardcore. The fries are the best fries I've ever ate, the sauce & coleslaw too! I've been going to chalet bbq since I'm a young child, always stayed the same. The atmosphere is old & rustic, it has its charm, the waitresses are so nice. The ultimate comfort food! If you guys ever wanna sell the restaurant or franchise it I'm in 100%!
Super yumy chicken & fries! Very affordable. Prompt deliveries for take out, & accomodating staff for dining in. Family freindly. Very positive experinces.
Since 1944 this place has been a staple of NDG. As the birthplace of Swiss Chalet this is what they are modelled over. Great food. Dipping sauce will cure what ails you! Friendly service & fast too. As great as I remember it as a kid with my family. Thank you for staying true to what makes you great!
Oh & atmosphere is straight from back in the day as well!
A true Montreal icon. The best BBQ chicken in Canada, by far. Dine in to experience a restaurant that hasn't changed its decor in half a century, which is part of what makes it so fun. Fun, friendly staff.
The chicken was very good. We took the family meal. Which came with a whole chicken, fries ,coleslaw & gravy. Excellent value for the price.
The portion is getting smaller unlome before ,they have friendly staff & have a lot spot of parking
Iconic restaurant that stands the test of time it offers a full menu of generous portions of BBQ chicken dishes with sides. Not gastronomy but tasty. The service was great, fast & friendly it was clear to see many customers were regulars. This place has been serving customers at the same location for generations so if your in the area & are in the mood for some great tasting chicken give it a try. Lunch specials are available.
This chicken place is one of the best in Montreal. The chicken is of good quality & well prepared-not dry nor flavourless like grocery chicken. The sauce is made with real chicken fat, not glucose or other chemical mix; also it is not overly salty, the kind you need to drink a galon of water after eating. The fries are made with real wholesome potatoes. Overall the chicken plates are worth it. However, what is beyond delicious is their poutine. It is the BEST that I have ever had in Montreal. This restaurant is one of the kind in my opinion. Worth a try😊👍👍 Thank you Tina for great service. You made our diner outing great!!!!
Although this place is dated since 1944 it is the best Barb-q chicken & sweet french fries in all of Quebec!
This past weekend I had the pleasure of feasting on the best rotisserie chicken French fries sauce & coleslaw slaw OMG!!!!!!!!! So so delicious I can't wait until next summer!!!!!!! I'm trying to google reciepe for Cole slaw. I can't find anything close. Can you give me a suggestion?
Montréal institution. The OG of Quebec BBQ chicken. All the ubiquitous chicken chains around the province (dare I say Canada?), come from this place.
Stepping into it is like time traveling 70 years in the past. Wood everywhere, not very bright, original everything it seems.
Even if the food was mediocre, the atmosphere alone could be worth it for some people. But here, he food is actually good.
I didn't grow up with it, it actually took me over a decade of living in Montreal to try it. Some people say it's an acquired taste. Don't listen to them. This is simple, perfectly cooked roasted chicken on charcoals. It comes with a flavorful cup of BBQ sauce. This is not your St-Hubert BBQ sauce, or worse, Swiss Chalet. It's not brown salted water. This one actually has some oomph, you can taste the warm & comforting spices. It reminds me of a Christmas cookie for some reason.
Finally, the fries. Delicious. Maybe a bit greasy, but I liked them.
Go pay them a visit.
53.00$$ for a chicken fried & coleslaw...c'mon c'mon 53 bucks....not worth it...last time going there sadly...but...53 bucks man...& that was take out... insanity
Just going to say it: best rotisserie chicken in Montreal.
I love this place. Give me a quarter chicken with fries & sauce & my day is instantly great (or great-er, even)!
Thanks to the team for being a Montreal staple that always delivers on delicious flavour & high quality. You guys rock!
Chalet Bar-B-Q has been a family favorite for a generation. They are very friendly & helpful for our larger group of 20. The food was delicious & brought back memories of past visits.
Chalet BBQ has always been a Montreal classic, but it's not quite what it used to be. The chicken doesn't have that nice crispy skin anymore, & instead of falling off the bone like it once did, it sometimes feels undercooked or just not cooked quite right. The fries can be hit or miss - sometimes decent, other times not nearly as good as years ago. On the plus side, the service & decor are still fine, but overall the food quality isn't what it once was.
I've known & frequented Chalet BBQ since 1985.
While the unique & delicious taste of the chicken, fries & sauce have made this restaurant famous, the atmosphere is unfortunately deteriorating.
Until recently, you could eat with your ears & head quiet, without hearing any music.
But things have changed. We're having our ears broken by the music, & it's a lack of respect for customers who want to eat in peace.
