This is my tenth Google review. I started on a whim one day & I enjoy it! Happy you are taking the time to read this one. It is a special place for my 10th! Chalet BBQ! It's on Sherbrooke street in NDG just off the Decarie. A real true montreal historical chicken institution. Some where you go with your parents after a great hockey game & it just feels like home. The memories! ...
The food is even better than a description can give. The chicken is soooooo juicy & the flavor from the rotisserie process leaves the meat with a beautiful... je ne sais pas... I would say it's kissed with deliciousness 😋 lol...
Check out the photos. Order the special table d'hote. That's French for'order me'. It is a 1/4 chicken plus fries, sauce, bread & Cole slaw or soup. Both are awesome. Extra charges for breast but it's worth it. Always go for the breasts my dad used to say 😆 ...

Sans prétention, cet endroit n'a pas changé depuis des dizaines d'années. Pour amateurs de poulet rôti uniquement! Le meilleur en ville dans sa catégorie. Bien meilleur que St-Hubert. La sauce & les frites maison sont aussi délicieuses!
The best barbecue chicken in Canada. Always delicious. Chrisi outside moist inside the french fries are to die for & the sauce is tangy & savory
Small piece of chicken & I didn't like the sauce. Also employees shouldn't talk in front of the customers about how unhappy they are about their shilts etc.

The best place for chicken in Montreal. Moist, juicy & the sauce, the best. The decor & the waitress uniform is like going back in time.
My best memory is bringing my grandmother back there a few years ago, as she lived on Girouard street in the 1950s, she said the recipe has not changed.
Décevant comme première expérience à ce restaurant de renom! Poulet (2 cuisses): Bien dodu & cuisson parfaite. La peau aurait pu être plus dorée & craquante. 4/5 Frites: Belle texture mais goût inintéressant, voire désagréable. 1/5 Sauce: Trop épaisse & certainement pas la meilleure (celle de St-Hubert est reine!). En plus il n'y en avait pas assez pour 2 cuisses & frites! 2/5 Salade de chou: Semblable à la traditionnelle de St-Hubert mais moins goûteuse. 3/5
Never dined in since its not the best location car wise but if you want a basic , chicken , coleslaw, sauce, & fries, this is the spot
The best rotisserie chicken. This place is the OG of chalet style chicken. The gravy/chicken sauce is so good it's drinkable. & the coleslaw is so amazing because the cabbage is perfectly sliced & not weird little pieces, it's like lace. Can't say enough about this place. Forget st-Hubert & forget Swiss chalet. This is the place!!

I have been eating here since the 60s, when i was a kid liveng not far away.Has not changed. Fast service, your seated & eating withing 5 minutes. they have lunch specials.I had water to drink she kept filling my glass, chicken breast ,french fries ,big cole slaw,2 sauce... $25.06 included a 15% tip
Best chicken breast & fresh coleslaw I ever had in a restaurant. The large cup of sauce is perfect & adds to their whole delicious ensemble. Awesome service, even if it was end of day, it was super friendly... you know when you want friendly service in a restaurant, treat them how you want to be treated & you get the respect right back. The waitress deserved her 20% tip! They are celebrating their 80th anniversary this year... found out yesterday evening that my friend Ken worked their as a teenager about 40 years ago... he was explaining to us how they used to make their coleslaw, BBQ Chicken & he still loves the place after all these years... After talking with our waitress everything is made just like back in the day! If you're looking for Montreal's best chicken, look no further... The decor inside is old school (1960's), but it has it's charm, reminded me of my childhood in the 80's. The lighting is a little dim, but it has its charm, it goes well with the design of the place. You feel like you walk in a Montreal 80 year old business... I'm not saying age is a bad, but in their case, it's what attests it's food quality... 80 years of perfecting the art of roasting chicken. I took a picture on their menu... nothing complicated, they KNOW their chicken! We are in 2024, not 1944, so it's normal that portions have changed, prices too... but how many places in 2024 in Montreal offer fresh delicious meals under 15$? I have no idea why I've waited so long to come taste this institution in Montreal? I will most definitely will be back & I hope they will still be around in 20 years to celebrate their 100th anniversary!

80 ans & toujours la car le poulet la salade & sauce délicieux service numéro un moi j ai pris quart de poulet cuisse & soupe poulet très bonne plein de poulet & le midi il y a des spécial moi j ai paye moins de 12$ plus soupe a $4,50 on est loin du prix de coq ou st Hubert je recommande une institution
Now you will notice I have it 5 stars for atmosphere even though it's all original & out dated. The reason why? Because it's out dated ! It's like going back into one's childhood & it's nostalgic. Food is yummy & predictably delicious. Portions are generous & the home made crisp fries & BBQ sauce are to die for. The chicken in any form is awesome because it a hot chicken sandwich or rotisserie style yummy. Pricing & value are totally there & a great place for a family meal. Not fancy but it gets the job done well. Dave the manager is always on top & making sure everything is done to his high standards. The customers are proof as most are patrons for generations. You have to go.

Excellent poulet, sauce, salade de choux & bonnes frites. Service rapide courtois & expérimenté. Bref, je sais maintenant pourquoi c'est un endroit réputé à Montréal pour le poulet rôti.
Le meilleur poulet de Montréal. La sauce en double évidemment. Vieux décor mais toujours rempli de clients satisfaits. Coin Sherbrooke & Décarie...ça vaut le détour. Stationnement à l'arrière. Taken out aussi.
