Always a nostalgic meal at Chalet Bar-B-Q, a must-visit when we return home for comforting & familiar Montreal food, along with smoked meat & bagels, of course! The decor is dated but that is what makes it so charming. Chicken is always perfectly cooked - they are the only ones in Montreal still allowed to use charcoal, & their's is red cherrywood. It complete elevates the chicken. French fries are plentiful & perfect, especially with their nonstop supply of sauce. I want to also mention Tina, our server, who is joy personified & the most attentive waitperson imaginable. She took the best possible care of us & we left with full bellies & smiles on our faces.

Just like walking into the past! A must go to restaurant with family or friends. The staff were friendly & took the time to chat with you & ask if everything was to our satisfaction. The food was cooked to perfection & the coleslaw to die for!
Recently took the extended family & friends for dinner at Chalet BBQ. My family has been going here since the 1960's & we still love it! Food is always great, plentiful & good tasting. Service hasn't changed over the years , it's always great. Just doesn't get any better than Chalet BBQ.
A well known friend in the community suggested this place to me, & it is great. Take it from a well known friend in the community! Back door for covert take out.
Attentive & kind staff, & delicious food every single time I've gone. The chicken breast, fries & roll are my go to. & a slice of something sweet to finish things off.
It's become a must-visit for me every time I'm in Montreal.

This is my tenth Google review. I started on a whim one day & I enjoy it! Happy you are taking the time to read this one. It is a special place for my 10th! Chalet BBQ! It's on Sherbrooke street in NDG just off the Decarie. A real true montreal historical chicken institution. Some where you go with your parents after a great hockey game & it just feels like home. The memories! ...
The food is even better than a description can give. The chicken is soooooo juicy & the flavor from the rotisserie process leaves the meat with a beautiful... je ne sais pas... I would say it's kissed with deliciousness 😋 lol...
Check out the photos. Order the special table d'hote. That's French for'order me'. It is a 1/4 chicken plus fries, sauce, bread & Cole slaw or soup. Both are awesome. Extra charges for breast but it's worth it. Always go for the breasts my dad used to say 😆 ...

Takes me back to the old days (70s & 80s). Food is old school & comforting, service is always friendly & the atmosphere is like stepping into a time machine (in a good way).
Never dined in since its not the best location car wise but if you want a basic , chicken , coleslaw, sauce, & fries, this is the spot

Alright, I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chalet BBQ, & may I say... it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, Steve & Catherine made us feel right at home with their warm hospitality. The atmosphere was cozy & the chalet of your grandparents, perfect for a relaxed meal. Now, let's talk about the food... absolutely incredible! The chicken was perfectly cooked, bursting with original, authentic flavor, & the poutine was equally delicious. I honestly, highly recommend you all go eat their signature, slow cooked chicken, you won't be disappointed! What really stood out was the attention to detail & the passion they put into their cooking. Steve & Catherine truly care about their patrons & it shows in every aspect of the dining experience. If you're looking for a fantastic meal & a friendly atmosphere, Chalet BBQ is the place to be! I can't wait to go back for another round of their amazing chicken & poutiiiiine! My friend & I visited from Toronto & it was recommended by another friend to try this place out that is the BEST & Original spot for Rotisserie Chicken. I have to say we were both SO impressed everything was amazing in my opinion better than the'comeptitors'. The portions were generous & flavorful. As a member of the service industry myself I was incredibly impressed with the service by Brooklyn she was sweet & attentive a very pleasant addition to the old school charming atmosphere!!!! 5 stars all round.
Coleslaw was delicious, fries delicious, chicken could have been cooked until the skin was a bit more crispy. Overall delicious food!

Love love love Chalet BBQ. We often go once a week. The food is predictably good, the staff warm friendly & attentive, & of course that timeless decor. It's nice that somethings in life don't change. Please don't ever close your doors - ever!
