I live in Bondi Beach Australia & it's been 20 years since my last visit there. Of course I made a beeline for Chalet BBQ & it was miraculously as good as I remember it. I hope it still is today. My sister & I, who grew up near the restaurant located on Decarie used to be taken there on special occasions. I still remember the motto,'When chicken such as this is served, A person never lingers, He sets aside his knife & fork & eats it with his fingers'. Oh for a taste of that gravy. I search longingly online to see if there will ever be a recipe. I may never make it back to Montreal in my lifetime & it saddens me to think I'll never taste one chip dipped in gravy again or piece of that amazing barbecue chicken. Someone post a recipe!!
Small piece of chicken & I didn't like the sauce. Also employees shouldn't talk in front of the customers about how unhappy they are about their shilts etc.

The best place for chicken in Montreal. Moist, juicy & the sauce, the best. The decor & the waitress uniform is like going back in time.
My best memory is bringing my grandmother back there a few years ago, as she lived on Girouard street in the 1950s, she said the recipe has not changed.
If you like retro it's a great chicken place. The staff is also great. Parking is a pain in the winter though.
I was finally able to try out this local rotisserie, & it is fairly comparable to the others in the neighborhood or the larger chains. The menu is a little more limiting as it is only chicken, they specialize & they make a great rotisserie chicken, so you go here to have that. I would say that I did not love the gravy as much as other places & they do not include coleslaw in their take out order. I did find the chicken to be quite good, the leg or breast meal is probably what to go for as the hot chicken was less good when taken out. I did like that they deliver in a box, no cloth bags & that they only include cutlery when requested, so some nice eco practices. The delivery was also very fast. Overall, it is a good place to order from, very similar to the bigger chains but local.
My parents brought me here back in the early 70s, & I've loved it every year since. Took my wife & her mom yesterday; it was amazing, just like always. Never a bad experience. Best BBQ chicken in Montreal.
Best place in town for roasted chicken. This place just feels like home.
Never dined in since its not the best location car wise but if you want a basic , chicken , coleslaw, sauce, & fries, this is the spot

The best lunch spot. I couldn't tell you about dinner never been for dinner by it lunch.. it's quick , it's well priced. Good service. & great chicken . Greaaaaaat food all in all. 10/10 lunch spot.
Nothing equals their chicken. Apple wood fire taste for real. Can't be more tender.

Alright, I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chalet BBQ, & may I say... it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, Steve & Catherine made us feel right at home with their warm hospitality. The atmosphere was cozy & the chalet of your grandparents, perfect for a relaxed meal. Now, let's talk about the food... absolutely incredible! The chicken was perfectly cooked, bursting with original, authentic flavor, & the poutine was equally delicious. I honestly, highly recommend you all go eat their signature, slow cooked chicken, you won't be disappointed! What really stood out was the attention to detail & the passion they put into their cooking. Steve & Catherine truly care about their patrons & it shows in every aspect of the dining experience. If you're looking for a fantastic meal & a friendly atmosphere, Chalet BBQ is the place to be! I can't wait to go back for another round of their amazing chicken & poutiiiiine! The best rotisserie chicken. This place is the OG of chalet style chicken. The gravy/chicken sauce is so good it's drinkable. & the coleslaw is so amazing because the cabbage is perfectly sliced & not weird little pieces, it's like lace. Can't say enough about this place. Forget st-Hubert & forget Swiss chalet. This is the place!!
