This is my tenth Google review. I started on a whim one day & I enjoy it! Happy you are taking the time to read this one. It is a special place for my 10th! Chalet BBQ! It's on Sherbrooke street in NDG just off the Decarie. A real true montreal historical chicken institution. Some where you go with your parents after a great hockey game & it just feels like home. The memories! ...
The food is even better than a description can give. The chicken is soooooo juicy & the flavor from the rotisserie process leaves the meat with a beautiful... je ne sais pas... I would say it's kissed with deliciousness 😋 lol...
Check out the photos. Order the special table d'hote. That's French for'order me'. It is a 1/4 chicken plus fries, sauce, bread & Cole slaw or soup. Both are awesome. Extra charges for breast but it's worth it. Always go for the breasts my dad used to say 😆 ...

I live in Bondi Beach Australia & it's been 20 years since my last visit there. Of course I made a beeline for Chalet BBQ & it was miraculously as good as I remember it. I hope it still is today. My sister & I, who grew up near the restaurant located on Decarie used to be taken there on special occasions. I still remember the motto,'When chicken such as this is served, A person never lingers, He sets aside his knife & fork & eats it with his fingers'. Oh for a taste of that gravy. I search longingly online to see if there will ever be a recipe. I may never make it back to Montreal in my lifetime & it saddens me to think I'll never taste one chip dipped in gravy again or piece of that amazing barbecue chicken. Someone post a recipe!!
My parents brought me here back in the early 70s, & I've loved it every year since. Took my wife & her mom yesterday; it was amazing, just like always. Never a bad experience. Best BBQ chicken in Montreal.

Alright, I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chalet BBQ, & may I say... it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, Steve & Catherine made us feel right at home with their warm hospitality. The atmosphere was cozy & the chalet of your grandparents, perfect for a relaxed meal. Now, let's talk about the food... absolutely incredible! The chicken was perfectly cooked, bursting with original, authentic flavor, & the poutine was equally delicious. I honestly, highly recommend you all go eat their signature, slow cooked chicken, you won't be disappointed! What really stood out was the attention to detail & the passion they put into their cooking. Steve & Catherine truly care about their patrons & it shows in every aspect of the dining experience. If you're looking for a fantastic meal & a friendly atmosphere, Chalet BBQ is the place to be! I can't wait to go back for another round of their amazing chicken & poutiiiiine! Love love love Chalet BBQ. We often go once a week. The food is predictably good, the staff warm friendly & attentive, & of course that timeless decor. It's nice that somethings in life don't change. Please don't ever close your doors - ever!

I have been eating the ( in my opinion) world's best BBQ Chicken since I was a child. Am 76 now, & Chalet BBQ still has the best Chicken, Fries & distinctive gravy available anywhere. Nothing compares to Chalet BBQ!

On va là pour vivre l'expérience, pour le voyage dans le temps. C'est du poulet BBQ. Rien de fou. C'est différent de tous les autres. Je vais toujours aimer les restaurants avec un menu imprimé sur le napperon. Des fois, c'est bien d'avoir moins de choix. Ça simplifie les choses, ça permet de mieux apprécier l'endroit & les gens avec nous.

Chalet Bar-B-Q is one of the best places to get roast chicken here in the city. The last time I was here was probably a while ago but I hope to eat in this restaurant when this pandemic is over. From What I remembered. The service is decent because it was not as crowded as it used to be it was on a weekend as well but pretty busy. The chicken, fries side dishes were delicious & cooked to perfection. I had no issues with the food for dining in at the time. The last time I was there 5 years ago & it is one of my favorite chicken places in the city. The only thing is that it is pretty far for me since it is located close to downtown but in the N.D.G. area. However it is walkable from Villa-Maria & Vendome metro. There is also parking in the street & at the back. During the pandemic their times have changed & I believe they only accept takeout & delivery but no dining. 28 July, 2024 20:00. This Chalet BBQ is the best chicken place in the city. Pros: A) Our make server don't know his name is bilingual & very polite he is a male. B) The Cesar salad as a starter was good & simple & the chicken soup was hot & not like warm. Both were delicious. C) The chicken & baked potato were delicious & seasoned perfectly especially the chicken. D) The location is perfect as it's near the highway & not far from Vendome Metro. Cons: A) Washrooms is old & needs renovation. B) Parking is pretty tight but it's nice that they have parking for clients. Other than that. This a hidden gem & I want to comeback to visit & show tourists & visitors this chicken spot is the best in MTL. God Bless!!! In the future I hope to try & check it out. It was voted one of the best roast chicken restaurants by CTV & many chicken fans alike. A great recommendation & hope you guys can try it. One of the best roast chicken places in the 514 area.
With a family of 6 including 4 small children its hard to find a place everyone agrees upon. At least twice a month the kids ask for chicken from Chalet BBQ. Their family pack option is a life saver. Its always nice to see a business offer options for families.
Best chicken breast & fresh coleslaw I ever had in a restaurant. The large cup of sauce is perfect & adds to their whole delicious ensemble. Awesome service, even if it was end of day, it was super friendly... you know when you want friendly service in a restaurant, treat them how you want to be treated & you get the respect right back. The waitress deserved her 20% tip! They are celebrating their 80th anniversary this year... found out yesterday evening that my friend Ken worked their as a teenager about 40 years ago... he was explaining to us how they used to make their coleslaw, BBQ Chicken & he still loves the place after all these years... After talking with our waitress everything is made just like back in the day! If you're looking for Montreal's best chicken, look no further... The decor inside is old school (1960's), but it has it's charm, reminded me of my childhood in the 80's. The lighting is a little dim, but it has its charm, it goes well with the design of the place. You feel like you walk in a Montreal 80 year old business... I'm not saying age is a bad, but in their case, it's what attests it's food quality... 80 years of perfecting the art of roasting chicken. I took a picture on their menu... nothing complicated, they KNOW their chicken! We are in 2024, not 1944, so it's normal that portions have changed, prices too... but how many places in 2024 in Montreal offer fresh delicious meals under 15$? I have no idea why I've waited so long to come taste this institution in Montreal? I will most definitely will be back & I hope they will still be around in 20 years to celebrate their 100th anniversary!
