Romies has a beautiful setting, especially the charming little terrace, but the experience doesn't quite live up to the ambiance. The space itself is lovely, warm, & inviting, yet the staff felt noticeably unwelcoming. The front?of?house guy in particular came across as brusque, which set an odd tone for the visit.The food was okay, nothing terrible, nothing memorable. Desserts, on the other hand, were genuinely great & easily the highlight of the meal. If you go, save room for something sweet. As for the shrimp cocktail, I wouldn't recommend it; it missed the mark & didn't match the quality of the rest of the menu. Overall, Romies is a beautiful spot with potential, but the hospitality & some dishes need attention before I'd consider returning.
La nourriture est très bonne. Une carte courte mais de qualité, cocktail bons également. En revanche le service n'est vraiment pas agréable. Le serveur n'a pas été sympathique du tout. On a eu le sentiment de le deranger tout le long. Donc experience très mitigée...
Fantastic food, great atmosphere, exceptional hospitality. The hostess is an absolute gem-she went out of her way with a thoughtful gesture that made my solo evening more enjoyable.
I went to Romies over a month ago for a celebration dinner with a group of 12+. Right from the start, we noticed our large party had been split across separate booths instead of being seated together.
Unfortunately, things only got worse from there:
1- The waitress struggled to keep track of the seating arrangement & who had ordered what.
2- Several orders were incorrect.
3- We waited nearly two hours for our meals.
4- Despite reminding the staff multiple times, they forgot to bring out the cake we had purchased for the celebration until much later.
At the time, we understood that large groups can be challenging, so we didn't hold a grudge.
What was truly shocking happened only recently. One member of our group made another reservation for tonight. The manager recognized her name, brought up our visit from over a month ago, & implied that we had harassed the staff that evening. He then questioned whether she still wanted to keep the reservation given'what happened.'
We had long since moved on, but apparently the restaurant hadn't. Instead of acknowledging the poor service we received, the manager chose to confront a returning customer over a month-old visit. That's an incredibly unprofessional way to treat guests, especially after the experience we had.
What a beautiful restaurant. The ambiance is so nice, the food is delicious, & the service is great. Such a great place for a date night or a girls night, in the heart of the city. The chocolate cake is literally the best cake I've ever eaten in my life.
Ive been to Romies a few times & it's basically a sure bet. The food is consistently good, the service is always friendly & the atmosphere is top (indoor & outdoor) - great playlist!
Just like anywhere else, I like some dishes more than others, but I never had an actual bad experience. I go there for the fried zucchini, their french fries & the blackout chocolate cake (I'm really not a dessert person & never order it when I eat out, but this cake is perfectly moist, rich but not overly sweet, decadent but also light in some weird way). Anything else I order is just bonus!
I went back last night for a date night for our anniversary & the staff went above & beyond to make the experience memorable. The service was impeccable, everyone was so kind, friendly & so accommodating with our baby & finding a table with enough space for our stroller (yes, we brought the baby on date night).
10/10, no notes.
Very impressed by the service , the food & the outdoor garden . The entire staff was so friendly & very professional . The food was delicious & very flavourful . All our dishes were delectable, my favourite was the beef carpaccio , the mix of flavours of the dressing was perfect & the Brutus salad was crunchy & succulent . The outdoor space is quite lovely in the evening with all the little lights . Great place for both an intimate dinner or with a group of friends .
Le repas était bon mais le service plutôt moyen. D'autant que nous avons demandé 3 bouteilles de vin. On nous répond 3 fois que nos choix ne sont pas disponible. On nous charge la plus chère. Supposé avoir un dessert offert nous dit la serveuse, qui a été chargé...
Anyway, déçu de l'expérience.
Sans compter le 18% bloqué sur le terminal... supposé être proposé 15% non ??
Je recommanderais quand même ce restaurant car les plats au dessert c'est bon mais côté expérience client c'est zéro !
