Personally I found this place pretty mid. It's a place to go for the vibes & appetizers than the actual food. The fried zucchini was delicious! I would go back anytime for that. Everything else was super meh. The pasta was actually not that great. There was so much cheese that it was a bit disgusting to eat & the flavours were nothing special. Very basic. I know the pasta has gone very viral & I had very high hopes but overall it was super disappointing. Any influencer/content creator that pushed this pasta forward has definitely lost all credibility. Overall I would only go back to enjoy the fried zucchini & grab food+dessert elsewhere. You can buy a whole cake for the price you pay for a slice of cake…which again is nothing special or worth paying for.
10/10 fast, quick & good prices. Sure me & my partner shared our food, but sharing is worth it, to try much at Romie's the pasta is AMAZING, The focaccia is beautiful & the service was superb.

The service at this place absolutely sucks. Took 15mins for us to even be acknowledged by the staff & get water poured. Another 10mins to take drink orders. It took 30mins for one salad & another 45 for a burger & two pastas. Restaurant was 3/4 full.
Foods not terrible but adding lays chips to a caesar salad for crunch is absolute laziness. Make some Parmesan crisps or something - seems lazy. Burger was dry, pasta was ok.
The food was good & the space is very nice. I had the Courgette Frites which were excellent, definitely recommend. Also tried the pasta alla zozzano which was good but expensive for a plate of pasta ($34) with mostly sauce, cheese & bits of bacon. The chocolate cake is decadent & well worth it.
Service was a bit slow especially for our cocktails.
Really disappointed :( I had great experiences here, & this was my 3rd time going to Romies but it's going to be the last one unfortunately.
The service was completly lacking & unattentive. The waiters never came to refill our water during the 2 hours that we were there. She also got my order wrong.
I took the pasta alla zozzona & this time it was not good. The sauce was really acidic too.
We were 4 people & the others did not really love their food either.
At this price point, good service & good food should be consistent.
Attentive & friendly staff. Food was very good & the plating was very nice.
Shared five appetizers between four people & then had the steak & pasta as a main meal. Walked out stuffed.
The cocktails were nice. bees nees is a must try!
Chocolate cake & a coffe were a perfect ending to our meal.
Would definitely go back!

Wanted to like this place, but definitely overrated. They don't know how to cook a steak at all. The burger was also so salty & greasy that it fell apart. The pasta that everyone gets is also a gimmick. Fried zucchini is ok, but the serving you get is smaller than what you see online. Chocolate cake was the best thing on the menu. Good service, tho would't recommend.
Went there for a dinner for 3 pax, 2 weeks ago. Came on a Tuesday night, the place was busy but not so much as to slow down the service.
We asked the server about a specific wine & after checking with the'Sommelier', she came back with a description of the wine as'Being funky but not too funky'......
While the server on table beside us was opening the wine bottle for the guests with the bottle squeezed between the crook of her arm & her left breast..... Not really appropriate in a'luxury' place.
After being asked if we were still'working' on our appetizer (3 different dishes, almost all done), we were served the main courses.
One fish, one beef tartare ( from the starter menu) & a plate of pasta with clams: not much to be wowed by with, missing salt on the beef tartare, which was served with the now classic'Écrasé de pommes de terres / semi-mashed potatoes with mayo, which were undercooked).
I cannot talk about the other dishes as I did not taste them.
Overall, an evening that can be improved both from the kitchen & mostly with better training for the service part.
Will not go back, too many good places in Montreal to go to instead of this one.
We had our wedding at Romies with 72 guests & it was the most special night. It was super intimate.
We had our ceremony & cocktail hour in the courtyard, & our reception inside the restaurant. First off, the staff is 10/10 - service was incredible, the food was outstanding & all our friends & family said this was some of the best food they ever had. We had an open bar & family style dining. We had antipasti & focaccia to start, catalina salad & fried zucchini followed by pasta alla zozzana, rib eye, branzino as the mains, & fries + side veg. Finished off with the Black out cake which was out of this world, & our wedding cake. The food was never ending. Everyone was so well fed. We also had a midnight table!
Nick & his team were so organized. We mostly dealt with Franck & Camille & they were so accommodating + responsive. We got married last week & I wish we could have our wedding again this weekend lol.
Thank you, Romies ♥?

I was hesitant about the menu, but I should not have doubted the team at Arthur's. Shrimp cocktail is nice, very refreshing. Beef tartare was fantastic - very good with its bedding of Russian salad. Apricot BBQ pork ribs were amazing & went really well with the Pfalz orange wine. Avoid the house pasta - it's fine but clearly just there to appease the picky eaters. We didn't have it, but I would recommend the pasta alle vongele instead as it looked delicious - big mound of it, good for sharing maybe.
Worth the hype. First of all-my group was late haha & without a thought they held our table for us for 15 mins on a busy Wednesday night. So thank you for that kindness. We got the beef tartare & focaccia as starters. The tartare was good but different (came atop a bland potato salad) & the focaccia was delicious. Most of my group got their famous pasta & raved about it. The grilled branzino was an underrated yet excellent dish. & the burger. My gosh- out of this world. & comes with their house ceaser salad which was so yummy & had potato chips instead of croutons. Although the dressing wasn't anchovy-ee enough for my taste. We also got all 3 desserts & all were 10/10 but the chocolate cake & blueberry sundaes are a must!! All in all a great meal in a cool trendy atmosphere
The food is excellent ==> Kiss for the Chef!
The service was good ==> Great service, with a pinch of'argh! another boomer couple! why am I wasting my life here!'.
Overall vibe ==> 'Cheesy-boomer-mid-90's-decor-impression-of-high-end-USA-male-tourist-customers'
The restaurant is situated at the complete west end of Old-Montreal touristy sector & located on the ground floor of what seem to be an office building (i.e: the restaurant restrooms are located past the main'mid-90's pinky-beige-stone-washed' entrance hall of the said office building).
The decor (of the restaurant + main building hall for restrooms) is somewhat dated to the mid-90's'trying-for-high-end-customers' restaurant (i.e.: somewhat'boomer-cheesy' in my opinion). I don't think that's what the restaurant is going for ultimately; the staff is young & dressed'chilled'. As said before, the service was good.
Unfortunately, the menu & the decor is giving -'I'm a 55ish+ male tourist from the United-State-of-America travelling outside my country for the 1st time & wanting to impress my date / cheat-mate with an IMPRESSION of an'elegant-diner-hotel-favor' combo; I am scared of food experiences & therefore I want a menu that I can relate too'- vibe. (ie: burger / pork-ribs / steak / pasta...)
I was a bit disappointed myself on the menu choices, since I wanted the'palourdes' as shown on the web-menu; that choice was not available at the restaurant on Sunday...I should have called - that's my bad.
For context, I did reserve my table for 5:30PM on a Sunday since my guest & I were expected somewhere else at 19:00...
However, that doesn't change my opinion on the overall'vibe' of the restaurant.
I recommend for the food...the rest of what you are going for is up to you!!!
We had high expectations for Romies considering how much we love its team's other restaurant, Arthurs, but unfortunately they were not met on this evening.
On the positive side, the food was phenomenal (especially the burger, pasta, & blackout cake), & they have cultivated a really cool vibe through the design, open kitchen, bar, etc.
That said, what really let us down was the service. From the hop, our server was rude, dismissive, & barely checked in. Then, he brought the wrong bottle of wine to our table, which we politely corrected, & then he proceeded to place that $100 bottle on my friend's bill (perhaps hoping she would not notice?). Also, we were there for my birthday & to kick off the night's celebrations (which was noted on the reservation), & there was absolutely no acknowledgement - not even placing a candle in the slice of cake I ordered. Don't get me wrong, we were not expecting to be catered to by any means, but being a bit more welcoming overall would have gone a long way.
Pasta & chocolate cake are an absolute Must. Beef tartare & focaccia are delicious as well. We also ordered the BBQ ribs & burger which were pretty good & Cesar. Overall great experience!
I think my wife & I caught the restaurant on an off night. I went with the burger, & my wife took the pasta dish, which both looked great on Instagram. My burger was overcooked, dry, & tasteless, which included the bun falling apart into pieces right from the first bite. My wife's pasta had no flavour & was very acidic. Unfortunately, she vomited twice from the acidity & spent the night on the couch 🤷♂️. Word of advice: Instead of having the owner check in on his wife's dining experience every 2 mins, he probably should have been keeping a closer eye on the food the kitchen was pumping out (we sat right next to them).
