My family & I have been here twice in 2 days since we were staying so close. It was so good each time! Customer service was exceptional! We had the Rueben, poutine, flatbreads, & dessert. Who knows, we might be back tomorrow!
Even though there is construction on the street, it's an easy walk & worth it!
The brisket sandwich was a-mazing! Loved the coleslaw... it wasn't all mayonnaise-y like back home. Much lighter & so much better! Best poutine fries we've had so far. Very friendly & efficient waiter. All in all a very good experience for our first night in Montreal.
Très bonne poutine au boeuf BBQ!!
Le service est très aimable & le lieu très joli!
Stopped by for a quick snack & got the Rueben's chop chop poutine which was so so good. Would definitely come back & try more of the menu items.
After waiting 30 minutes for our food at 5 pm the steak frites were overly cooked. This concern was brushed off by the waitress. The meat itself was not even that good, which is a shame considering the prices they charge. Poutine cost extra & is rather flavorless. No idea how this restaurant is a 4.5
We LOVED Reuben's Deli & Steakhouse! We wish they would open one in Vancouver. We will definitely visit EVERY TIME we go to Montreal. The food is so fresh & tasty. We went for dinner & then had to leave suddenly for an event, but went back that same night for dessert after the event. Then, I ordered from them via Uber Eats the night before I left Montreal.
For dinner we ordered potato latkes to share. I ordered the Mediterranean Grand Salad with a chicken breast. It was SUPER DELISH! It was huge & I had enough for the next night although I chose to finish the chicken as we had to take it with us with no refrigeration available. I also ordered the The Colour Violet cocktail. My husband ordered the Original Reuben Sandwich. The fries were just crispy enough & very hot, which is a good thing. He couldn't finish both halves, so he also had the other half for the next night.
When we went back for dessert, I had the classic strawberry cheesecake (that truly rivals my own homemade cheesecake). My husband ordered something so rich, I could only eat one bite. It was the Peanut Butter Fudge Brownie Cheesecake. I also ordered the carrot cake to take back to our hotel to enjoy with our leftovers the following night. No photos of that. Didn't think of it. But it was quite delish also. Six layers of cake, raisins, shredded carrot & the candied roasted almonds with yummy cream cheese frosting.
The night I ordered with Uber Eats, I got the Bandera grilled chicken sandwich with JD bbq sauce (making my mouth water just thinking about it). I thought it would be sliced or shredded chicken. No. It was like they took a skinned chicken leg & pulled the bones out of it & then added a thigh or at least half of a thigh piece, slathered in bbq sauce with the cheeses etc. I couldn't take a photo when I realized I should because it was so messy (but I didn't care) but have plenty of napkins/damp cloth nearby. If my husband had still been there we could have EASILY split that sandwich & been satisfied. I also tried the poutine (no photo), which, for me didn't have enough gravy & was very salty - I haven't really had poutine before, so I don't know if it's supposed to be really salty - I also ordered pickles (which I love, but no photo) & a Stewart's Creamsicle soda. For dessert the Classic Chocolate Cake, partially eaten before I thought to take a photo. all of that came to $60 for just the food, but WELL WORTH IT!
The atmosphere was welcoming & visually interesting with all of the murals, signed plates framed on one wall, naturally loud but not too bad & our servers (both times) Ophelia & her trainee, Catherine (for dinner) & Steven for dessert were informative, personable & generally awesome. The rest of the staff, concierges/manager(?) were friendly & gave us a lot of the history of Reuben's.
Overall, it was one of the highlights of being in Montreal. I can't think of another restaurant I could say that about. If you're in Montreal, you should definitely have a meal there. If we lived in Montreal, we'd eat there at least once per month.
Stopped by Reuben's Deli & Steakhouse & had a great experience. We tried the Chop Chop Poutine & the Pepperoni Pizza, & both were delicious. The service was outstanding & very friendly, attentive, & made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere was lively & inviting it was definitely worth a visit when you're in Montreal!
Food was OK, expensive for what it is, bit like Cheesecake Factory quality. Smoked meat poutine was just alright, steak was mid. Server was attentive & helpful. That said, the atmosphere is fun & it's centrally located. Does a decent job of being what it is.
Enjoyed the poutine & the rueben sandwich! Their peanut butter cheese cake was also great.
