Reuben's Deli comes across in these reviews as a go-to downtown spot known for generous smoked meat sandwiches, hearty portions, and a warm, atmospheric setting that blends old-school deli charm with a modern touch. Diners praise the rich flavors and careful preparation, as well as dessert options like cheesecake, with service described as efficient, attentive, and friendly even in busy moments. Several comments note solid value for the price and a vibe that feels comfortable and stylish, though a few reviews mention smaller post-pandemic portions or price levels that can feel high for everyday dining. Some critiques point to bread and dressing not suiting every palate or to occasional inconsistencies such as the texture of fries or the presentation of sandwiches. The overall tone is that Reuben's Deli delivers a memorable smoked meat experience worth a return visit, bolstered by a convivial, welcoming atmosphere that appeals to both locals and visitors.
The smoked meat sandwiches were amazing! We enjoyed them so much we went back the next day. Very flavourful & juicy.
Our server Claudia was exceptional! Best service experience, we will definitely go back again.

First of all, the restaurant itself looks amazing - very comfortable sofas, well-spaced tables, & a beautiful design. I honestly didn't expect such an atmospheric place, especially knowing the prices beforehand (which are surprisingly affordable for a place like this).
We ordered the onion soup, served with a rich cheesy topping - it was absolutely delicious. To be honest, after the soup alone I already felt full & completely satisfied😁
But we didn't stop there & ordered a smoked meat sandwich. It was outstanding: a huge portion with incredibly juicy meat & wonderful bread, very soft inside with a crispy crust served with fries on the side🤤
I don't live in Montreal, but we love this city & visit it often just to enjoy our time there. Now I know for sure that we'll also be enjoying great food every time we come. You can really feel that everything in this restaurant is prepared with care & soul😌
I wasn't feeling well on my way to Reuben's & almost turned back, but I'm glad I didn't. When I arrived, I told the server I was taking out, & he still kindly offered me water - a small gesture that already showed how thoughtful the staff are. I ordered their famous smoked meat sandwich (which lived up to the hype!) but had to step away for a while because I felt really sick.
When I came back, the owner noticed & asked if I was okay. I told him I wasn't feeling well, & he immediately offered me a bottle of Perrier to help me hydrate - & wouldn't even let me pay for it. That simple act of kindness genuinely made my day & helped me feel better.
It's rare to find that kind of care & humanity in a busy restaurant. Beyond the great food, Reuben's has truly wonderful people. Highly recommend.
The meat lacks flavour. It's stacked in a one sided fashion. So the half sandwiches have the shape of triangles in cross section. The fries were cooked in over hot oil & had that chemical burnt type flavour. As a two day visitor to Montreal I feel as if I've squandered an opportunity. I'm really looking forward to Schwartz's tomorrow for lunch.
Very cool restaurant, felt almost like I was transported to a past decade. Love the vibe & decor. Extremely well maintained establishment. However the food itself felt mediocre. Portion size of the kaiser sandwich was very disappointing & the meats were just okay. There was a subtle lack of attention to detail like placing the pickle on a hot plate just made for a warm pickle which isn't very appetizing. Poutine was probably my favourite part of the meal. Also one awkward moment of the meal transpired where the server dropped a mayo pack on the floor but swiftly picked it up & tried to conceal her putting it back on the plate & served it to me right after. Extremely odd & somewhat disrespectful moment which I assume was a momentary lapse of judgement. Overall my expectations for the food itself was not lived up to, but it's a cool restaurant.

This is a cute little upscale Deli. The staff are friendly, the place gives oldstyle pub vibes on a classy level.
The prices are a bit on the high end, & you can expect to pay around 30 bucks on the lower end. I went for the lunch menu sandwich combo, & it came with a 6oz sandwich, fries, coleslaw, & a pint all for 30 dollars. The fries came crispy & stayed crispy, & 6oz is misleading, i could not finish the second half the portion was so substantial.
Beautiful selection of pastas & steaks aswell.
10/10 recommend. I will be back next time i fly in for business. Would be a great location for stakeholder engagement.
Shoutout to Wayne for bringing the good vibes & humor. Did i mention the frosted pint glasses?
