I've visited this restaurant several times for breakfast & dim sum, but today was my first time trying it for supper with my son. The menu was different, & it wasn't through the phone app-instead, it was a large, physical book. I asked for help because there were a few dishes I was interested in, but the staff member in the dining area explained the options in a rushed, unclear way.
When I tried to process what I wanted to order, he immediately told me to order quickly & was rude about it, giving me no chance to think. The attitude was completely unnecessary.
We left & went to another place in the same mall, where the service was excellent-so different from what we experienced here. I won't be returning to this restaurant again.
Had the ABSOLUTE WORST experience yesterday afternoon! Went in at 14h15 for a quick late lunch… scanned the QR code that they provided to order the Daily Lunch Special for $8.95, the Cantonese-Style Crispy Noodles. Five minutes later, a waiter comes up to tell me there's no more. I asked, what do you mean there's no more… lunch is from 10h00 to 15h00?? He said the manager stopped the special as it is Lunar New Year Week. I retorted by pointing out that New Year's Day is tomorrow, not today! I asked to speak to the Owner which he refused, I demanded to speak to the Manager… as I waited, the couple at the table next to me expressed the same exasperation ordering the same daily special today. The manager (pictured below) refused to honor their special clearly available to order on their menu system & refused to allow me to speak with the Owner. He threw me out of the restaurant as I voiced that I would make a complaint to the Head Office at the Brossard location, go on Social Media to share their unethical business practices & file a formal complaint with the OPC!!
This establishment has been less than stellar since the very beginning during their soft opening when menu items were unavailable to order, short staff both in the kitchen & dining room, extremely long waits for your orders to be served, very unprofessional management team including but not limited to the Manager pictured below! & to top it off, their food isn't even anything special, bland taste at best…
Food. Delicious, fresh & hot.
Service. Good to average. It's often hard to get people's attention especially when you're trying to get sauces & dips etc.
Atmosphere. It's nice & clean, however, it's one big space & when busy can be a bit loud & lacking of personal space.
This is one of my preferred restaurants to have dim sum, including their south shore location.
They use an app ordering method requiring the customer to have a smart device to connect to their wifi & order the dishes one desires. I personally appreciate this as I don't have to wait for a server unless I have a question about the food. I do love the old school model where people walk around with a trolly filled with foods & you just ask & they place it on your table like I'm china town, but this is so quick & easy & I don't have to deal with china town traffic or parking.
I found everything to be tasty, flavourful, properly filled with good amounts of filling, however, I do think the pricing is a little higher than it should be. I have had their Chinese foods here as well & found the food to also be very delicious but that's for another review.
Went there on a weekend for dim sum. It gets quite busy during lunchtime, but we were seated fairly quickly. Orders are placed through a QR code, which is convenient. We have visited Imperial a few times before, but this visit was a bit underwhelming. The food was average & not as fresh as we expected. The xiao long bao, in particular, lacked the juiciness it used to have. Overall, the consistency seems to be slipping.
It was my first visit to Restaurant Imperial in the DDO Mega Mall & I was impressed by the warm greeting & the welcoming atmosphere. We ordered the Hot & Sour Soup & Peanut Butter Dumplings & they arrived quickly. They were fresh & delicious. We also ordered Crispy Noodle Black Pepper Sauce Beef on Sizzling Plate, Peanut Butter Chicken Crispy Spinach & General Tao Chicken. The food was fresh & tasty & the service was impeccable. Will definitely visit again. This has become my favourite West Island Chinese restaurant.
