Première fois que j'y suis allée & j'ai bien aimé. Grosse portion de nourriture qui fait que malheureusement on peut pas tout manger en une journée mais la nourriture est bonne. J'ai pris banane plantain & poulet au mayonnaise & c'est quand même bon mais trop gros plat. J'y reviendrai bien sûr.
More plusses than minuses - good & unusual food, friendly knowledgeable staff, pleasant decor & music. Friendly fellow customers, some of whom seem to be regulars. Named for Congo's independence day, but food is a mix of cultures (Ivory Coast, Congo, Indian/African, etc.).
Our appetizer (Pondu & rice) was outstanding - flavorful mix of greens & beef stew. As was one of the two mains, fufu w. grain sauce (actually a different type of beef stew with big tender chunks of meat). Fufu & the fermented dough placali for the other dish (w. gumbo sauce) is a bread substitute made of cassava, great for dipping (by hand) in the sauces. Only the gumbo wasn't quite to our liking - more gelatinous with an herb that was an acquired taste.
A nice bonus was the dessert'Congo cake' - actually small balls that were more like beignet (donut) holes.
The minuses, though few: This is not a fancy restaurant, & had some odd (but comfortable) uneven seating benches. Unfortunately, at least on our visit, there was little heat on a freezing night - which the owners tried to make up for with convection heat dishes propped on a chair to the side of our table.
The one unforgivable issue was charging tax on our tip, even though the credit card machine indicated a suggested tip without it (& which is illegal in Quebec)! I offered a generous 20% tip & was surprised to find later it was upped by the taxes. I won't report this but it is a violation of the new Quebec law. Stop it!
I don't want to take away from what was overall a great experience though, don't avoid this place but do check to make sure you aren't similarly hit. Prices overall were reasonable - with drinks it was $128 with taxes.
Globalement correct Un service qui ne vaut pas le pourcentage de pourboire émis par la serveuse Angie (18%) en question, & lorsque je lui fais la réflexion de savoir si je peux choisir le pourboire, elle m'explique qu'il est déjà inclus. Nous sommes au Canada nous savons que le pourboire n'est pas inclus & que c'est au client de l'ajouter, veuillez ne plus prendre ses habitudes là, car ça peut vous porter préjudice si j'avais décidé de ne pas en rester là.

& svp veillez installer un chauffage dans votre restaurant, c'est très désagréable de manger avec un manteau.
Encore une fois son service ne valait pas ces 18% de pourboire.
Je suis serveuse donc je connais tout cela.
J'aimerais avoir un suivi concernant cela si il y a une responsable.
Vraiment déçue, je suis venue acheter un plat de chèvres qui a coûté pret de 30$ & la quantité était nettement moindre que d'habitude... Comme un plat enfant........ Vous venez de perdre une cliente
