Regashi Isakaya offers a focused exploration of Japanese culinary traditions, specializing in the precision of artisanal sushi and savory izakaya-style small plates. The menu emphasizes the freshness of premium marine ingredients, prepared with technical accuracy to highlight natural textures and subtle flavor profiles. Diners encounter a diverse selection of nigiri, sashimi, and intricate maki rolls that balance seasonal produce with traditional seasoning methods. Beyond raw fish preparations, the kitchen executes various cooked dishes, including skewered proteins and soy-based appetizers that define the casual communal spirit of authentic Japanese drinking halls. The minimalist interior design supports an atmosphere centered on the consumption of carefully composed culinary craft. This establishment maintains a rigorous commitment to ingredient quality while presenting an accessible menu that reflects the depth of contemporary Japanese regional food culture.
Regashi Isakaya consistently earns high praise for its refined and creative approach to Japanese cuisine, with many diners highlighting the exceptional quality of the aged fish sashimi and the well-curated tasting menus. The open kitchen layout creates a convivial atmosphere, allowing guests to witness the skilled preparation of dishes while receiving professional and attentive service from a dedicated staff. While a few visitors found the pricing high or noted concerns regarding portion sizes and ambient noise, the vast majority describe the restaurant as a culinary gem in Montreal, lauded for its unique flavor profiles, high-quality ingredients, and welcoming environment that encourages repeat visits for both casual dining and special occasions.
Fantastic experience at Regashi, food is very high quality with unique take on the Isakaya experience. Highly recommend this place, the chef is passionate & it shows. The service was impeccable & perfectly timed. Nothing negative to say about this place, it should be on everyone's must try list!

Oufff talk about being really disappointed. Firstly, I went with two friends - one from out of town who doesn't speak French well. The waitress refused to talk in English - fine. I can get past that (even though we live in a city with tons of tourists & should embrace everyone). The food was beyond mediocre. The ribs were dry, The bowel buns were unedible. & we were only five people total in the restaurant. By 8:30 PM we were the only ones there & while we were in mid bite of our main meals, the waitress came up to us & asked how we wanted to split the bills. Didn't leave room for any extra drinks, ordering anything else on the menu, nor asking for dessert etc. It was such a turn off that we just decided to leave once she brought us the bills. The service was atrocious, but honestly, the food matched was just as bad.
