After a long bus tour, we were alighted at the China town gates, the tour guide recommendedstopto go into China Town. As we entered, Mai Xiang dumplings caught our eye. The staff was welcoming, & we sat & ordered Hot & Sour Soup, pan friend lamb, & pork dumplings. The soup was very good & so were the dumplings. Service was excellent.View more

Vous avez envie de manger des Dumplings Chinois? Je vous recommande ce resto Mai Xiang Yuan. Il a de toutes les sortes dumplings bouillis, frits & cuits @ la vapeur. La soupe @ l'aigre-douce n'est pas la meilleure mais c'est bien pour debuter votre repas. Les entrees salade aux concombres & aux algues se sont mes preferees. Je vous recommande le plat classique dumplings au porc hache & batchoy bouillis, dumplings poulet aux champignons, dumplings porc hache avec ciboulettes frits & dumplings xiaolung bat porc hache & batchoy. Noubliez pas d'ajouter la sauce maison vinaigrette & piquante du resto @ vos dumplings. Vous devez aller avec un petit groupe de 4 @ 6 personnes comme ca vous pouvez deguster differents plats de dumplings du menu. Je vous garantie que vous allez adorer votre experience. Le prix est raisonable & c'est le moins chers en ville. Chaque morceau de dumpling etait bien farci avec une portion genereuse de viande & des legumes. Vous devez venir y gouter & decouvrir vous memee @ quel point c'est bon! N'oublie pas d'apportez de l'argent comptant car il n'accepte pas de carte de credit. My wife & I enjoyed a nice lunch at Mai Xiang Yuan Dumpling. She ordered the boiled dumplings. I ordered the fried. We both got the wonton soup. The service, atmosphere & food were all great. Only challenge that they are cash only (has an ATM in the entrance). I'd definitely go here again!View more

Good dumpling restaurant. The place seems to have been renovated. Looks nice & clean. However, it's still CASH only. No cards accepted. I ordered steamed dumplings but the waiter misunderstood. We got fried dumplings instead. Personally, I feel that these fried dumplings are just too fried that you can't really enjoy the taste of the filling. I was disappointed. I also had a wonton soup. It was ok but not great. In the past, I've had steamed dumplings here & they were delicious so I would probably come back.View more

Whenever I come here I'm never left disappointed. The service is great & everyone there is kind. On the other hand the food is delicious! Now when it comes to the food I ordered 3 things: - Pork & Chives Xiao long baos - Pork & Shrimp Xiao long baos - Pan fried pork & chives dumplings The Xiao long baos (soup dumplings) were outstanding! The pork & chives ones have a light flavour & the soup is so flavourful. I wasn't the biggest fan of soup dumplings before this restaurant. I found that the soup was more greasy somehow. The soup is light & the flavour just burst into your mouth. The pork & shrimp soup dumplings were on another level. If you aren't able to eat shrimp I recommend the pork & chives! The pork & shrimp dumplings had so much flavour. The umami taste that leaves you wanting another one. I love how there is so many different types of dumplings on the menu too. The pan fried dumplings are great as well! You can't go wrong with pan fried dumplings. I'm personally a fan of the chicken pan fried dumplings here but I decided to try the pork ones. The pork & chives are heavy but the crispness of the skin goes so well with the filling. There is also lots of seating & its cash only but they have a atm at the front! Updated review: This business absorbed the reviews from our previous favorite soup dumpling place called "bien maison" which was a solid 5 stars. Today we tried this new place & while the soup dumpling where exellent, the staff gave us attitude when we payed because we gave 15% tip which is supposed to be good. This ruined the experience for us.View more

The waiter wasn't calm, always in a rush to get your order, no sign at all for (only at the register) "cash only" The personal soup is a child portion. They always came & asked many times to get the plate we finished eating, even though wasn't people waiting to be served.View more

Came here based on some blog posts & reviews. Food was ok. Soup ordered was room temp. I heard another patron complain about the temp & the server brought his soup to the back & microwaved it, then returned with a "here is your EXTRA HOT" soup comment. My daughter suddenly had a craving for dumplings when his brother was getting a haircut in Chinatown so we decided to try Mai Xiang Yuan. The place was not full when we went in around 12:15 pm but it suddenly became full after 15 minutes.
We ordered the following: (1) Fried Lamb & onion dumplings, (2) Pork, mushroom, & shrimp dumplings, & (3) Pork & shrimp dumplings in soup.
The place may not be fancy looking but the dumplings we had were very savory. We've tried a few of the dumplings place near the area but none got our approval in terms of taste. That's why we were so happy to discover this. As one posted in his review, truly a "diamond in the rough."
The service was great. The staff were all smiling (you can see the people making the dumplings; so, we took the opportunity to see how they prepared our food). The time it took for our order to be served is quite acceptable.
We never had the chance to see/ use the restroom. We were in & out of the place in 30 minutes & we ate 40 dumplings (total). As my daughter simply put it, "HAPPY TUMMY MAMA!"
